Chapter 100: Breakfast with the Queen- III

As she took another step back and said that, I glanced at the window wondering what was there that could show me a new reality of life. Her eyes had grown cold at the sight of whatever it was and it scared me.

It was the prince standing near bushes of beautifully grown roses in the garden but it was who stood next to him who took my breath away.

"S-she. . ." I gulped as I stuttered at the sight. I didn’t dare look at it once more to make sure that whatever I was saying was the truth. "Is she? She is. . ."

"Pregnant with the babe of the man that you had to marry?" The queen spoke up from the spot behind me. "Yes child, she is." She confirmed.

Today was suffice to say that the very assumption I had refused to believe that the dining table while eating my breakfast had come true. The marriage was brought forward because the queen wanted the child to be a child out of a marriage and that there was no way of him ever becoming something other than a bastard.

She wanted me to be married to him before the possibility of him marrying her.

"He. . ." I felt tears come to my eyes. I felt the burn with what I felt. My chest felt heavily constricted.

What did I feel? Betrayal? Anger? But why? I did not even know him properly since we had never met. Yet, it hurt me for what he did.

I blinked back the tears and just watched how he was treating her. He looked at her as he held her hand with full of respect and adoration. There was nothing but love in his eyes for her. I felt like a jealous mistress as I was watching from afar.

What had it come to? In a matter of mere seconds?

"See?"

I turned to her with my anger blazed more than ever. "I do not understand how you could let it happen! Your first thought should have been that if it happened to you, then you should have made sure that it happened to no one else!" I hissed as a madwoman.

She smiled with arrogant eyes, "Oh, yes? I think on the other hand that you should take care of it."

My expressions changed from furiousness to curiosity, "What?"

She nodded to me with a smile. "Yes, you could always take care of it better than me, you know. You are princess, from a royal family no less, and she is a small peasant girl coming from a faraway village with nothing to her name or dowry." She stepped closer to me, "You could always take care of it." She whispered with such malicious intent that I shivered.

What kind of sick woman was I talking to? "What are you talking about? Are you talking about, are you talking about the woman or," I gulped, "the baby?"

She smiled again and now I found something horrifying about it. "Do you know what to do when a weed grows in your beautiful garden?" She sidestepped me and looked outside as she stood beside me.

"You pull it out from the root."

She said it so conveniently about the lovesick couple who was blissfully unaware of what was going on around them.

I gulped at what she had said as I took my eyes off of them and looked at her. She looked at them with nothing in her eyes. Cold and loveless they were.

"That is also your son’s child," I stated the fact, hopeful for a change. "Would you be so cruel to rob him of the child?" I did not know why I said it. Who’s favor was I in?

She shook her head slowly. "If I was not cruel then I would not be a Queen. Do you think that I have to deal with all public complaints? I have to sit on the throne alone and deal with men that ravel in politics. Do you think it is easy for a woman to sit with people that looked down upon her? I sit on the throne with the most corrupt men in the world and I truly rule with an iron fist."

She turned to look at me and stared me down. "I am the cruelest woman you could ever meet, Genevieve, and yes I might have done more cruel things that you are not aware, of that I will never regret. I am a woman in power."

"A woman in power is cruelty?" I repeated after her as I could feel slight tears building in my eyes. This was not fair. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚

"Is that what you are saying? That I have to change myself that I ever want to become the queen?" I could never kill.

She stared at me and then pointed to the window. "You see that?" I glanced there. "That’s a bastard, one could ruin the life of your child. That could take the chance away from your child to ever have to sit on The throne. Would you do that to your child?"

Would I? Without a doubt, I never would. I would never do that to my child. I would never dare about take such opportunity of a firm that my child is rightfully the heir of.

I closes my eyes and turned around roughly. Thinking about what? I was being played into this came by her.

This was against the morals I had.

"I am sorry, but I cannot do this." I stepped back respectfully bowed at her once, "whatever you are saying cannot be done by me. I do not have it in me to do so."

I stepped back and started walking away from her as she continued to stare out of the window.

"The only favor, I could do was to bring your wedding forward so that the prince would never have a chance to take her as his wife. Now it is in your hands to how you want it all play out."

I stopped walking.

"No one will look at this girl twice if she is pregnant or not, but if it is a princess who is pregnant, trust me, you will have your wedding and the child for The throne. It would only secure your crown."

I heard her walk slowly towards me and I felt her breath fan over her shoulder. "It is your choice. You do not want to be a," she stopped and I waited for what she had to say, "A queen with no heir to the throne."

She stepped around and face me with a small smile on her face. "After all, I am sure you know what they do go to the weak ones." She walked away after that.

Yes, I knew what they did, after all my mother birthed no heir but three daughters.
