Knock Knock Knock!!!

Daphne’s eyes slowly fluttered open as she stared angrily at the door. ’Who is knocking by this hour?’

She stared at Wise who was still fast asleep and closed her eyes once more.

Then her eyes suddenly shot open and she hurried over to the other side of the bed, her hand covering her mouth in shock.

’I almost forgot about yesterday!’

Creak!

Daphne immediately glanced at the door and hurried over to it, knowing it was about to be dismantled. "Freya!"

She quickly pulled it open, frowning at the three women standing in front of her.

Of course, Freya had her hands on the door, about to destroy it with that cursed ability she was beginning to use more frequently.

"You’re a pain, you know that right?" Daphne frowned. "What do you want?"

Freya peeked into the room, looking around suspiciously. "I needed to make sure something illicit wasn’t going on—"

She paused and looked at Wise on the bed. "Wise is sleeping, I haven’t seen him sleeping before."

Before Daphne could stop her, she hurriedly entered the room, accompanied by the two others and crept up to Wise’s bed.

Freya stared down at Wise who was innocently lying beneath the blanket, and then her expression softened. "He looks so... cute."

For whatever reason, the word cute brought with it memories that made her red up to her ears.

"How ridiculous." Daphne scoffed, trying to play it off and then she walked up to him, staring down as well.

’Well...’ Daphne stopped her train of thought and looked away.

Meanwhile, Aofie moved around the bed and smiled. "He looked so vulnerable...hehe."

Before anyone could react, Aofie pulled out a silver dagger from her chest.

"W-what the hell are you do—" Before Daphne could complete her sentence, Wise’s eyes shot open.

His eyes were a shimmering blue, not his regular human like eyes but Draconic slits instead.

Those blue eyes suddenly widened and his breath caught in his throat.

"Shit, shit, shit!"

Wise rose from the bed, completely ignoring them and sped out of the room.

***

"Shit!"

’Why did this have to happen today?!’

Wise had sensed something from deep in his slumber, it was a call, no, it was a warning—

It was early so most people were still holed up in their rooms, asleep. But Wise was racing towards the back of the ship, and when he got there...

He paused and slowly trekked towards the edge.

A large wave of water was rising high up into the sky, something was emerging from the depths, something colossal and terrifying.

Wise watched as the waters parted revealing the figure.

Dark blue scales that appeared archaic and thicker than rocks, two long horns that spanned nearly two meters, gigantic wings that blanketed them in a covering of shadows and a tail that he could not see the end of.

A Water Dragon!

’Did she hear me last night?!’

After gaining his memories of his old life, Wise had only met fellow dragons a few times and every time he did, he was reminded of his current place in the world.

You see, dragons grew stronger with age...

Wise was no more than twenty, but as for the water dragon in front of him... he swallowed.

That dragon was nothing less than a thousand years old! freewēbnoveℓ.com

"A dragon?" Daphne asked, her voice lowered.

They had all followed him to this place and we now in the presence of the dragon as well.

Esme was smiling like an idiot as she stared at the great dragon, she almost ran towards the edge of the ship before Aofie caught her and held her back.

Freya did not seem the little bit impressed by the dragon, instead, she sighed, looking bored.

It seemed their relationship with him had made them too used to dragons, causing their carelessness.

’They should be running!’

The dragon squinted its eyes as she stared down at them, her eyes moving from person to person.

"A juvenile?!"

Her voice cut through to them with thunderous fury, the oceans shook violently and the ship trembled just from her voice alone.

She moved her large head forward until she was a few feet away from Wise, thankfully, she lowered her voice the next time she spoke.

"When I sensed you from miles away I thought as a juvenile you would take care to respect these waters, knowing I rest within it."

’She could sense me?’ Wise wondered.

How far did her dragonic sense span? He couldn’t even notice her up until she called him herself.

"But it seems you baby dragons have lost your respect over the years. I am Adeline of the Crystal Waters, state your name."

Wise was about to speak when she cut him off.

"Who even cares? A juvenile talking trash about my noble race." She shifted her gaze to the girls.

"A human and an Ork that dare insult the blessings of the ocean. An elf that lacks decorum, staring at me as though considering the thought of challenging me."

Wise felt his left eye twitch. ’She heard everything!’

And then finally, her gaze shifted to Esme.

"What is wrong with you dear? You look... troubled... mentally."

Esme broke free of Aofie’s restraints and charged towards the dragon, causing her to shift back in shock.

"I am honored to be in the presence of such a majestic being! Can I touch your scales?!" She asked, her eyes wide in excitement.

Wise paled.

’You dragon aficionado!’

The dragon’s eyes narrowed as she watched Esme in silence, no doubt thinking of the most horrible ways she could end her life.

If it came down to it, Wise would have to fight her, although he would rather not fight a dragon fifty times his age and five times his size...

"Don’t mind her," Wise said, moving closer to yank Esme out of the dragon’s sight. "She’s just very enthusiastic about—"

"I like this one..." The dragon cut in before he could speak.

"Heh?"

Then a wave of water climbed up the stage and lifted Esme, placing her atop the water dragon’s head.

Esme was more than ecstatic, she was busy coping a feel of the dragon’s horns and scales while the dragon turned her gaze back to the rest of them.

"Now for the rest of you. I would have simply eaten you, but that would upset Akako."

She then paused as though in thought.

"No matter as punishment, I will send a particular foe your way, a beast that is fouling my oceans. Kill it and you may consider your penance complete."

The waters once again carried Esme, who was still reaching forward like a child longing for its mother, back to the deck.

"Fail, and I’ll send the Sirens."

"Sirens?!"

Sirens were called the demons of the sea for a reason. They had lovable faces and attractive bodies, but one careless act and they would reveal their vile nature.

Their razor sharp teeth, dreadful claws and ugly faces.

They were truly horrid beings. One siren was more than enough to sink a ship of this size, send three... and three would be a problem.

Freya stepped forward, her arms crossed in front of her chest. "Send whatever you want to send, Wise is not afraid of them, he can take yo—"

Wise quickly grabbed her from behind and held her mouth shut while she angrily struggled in his grip.

"Don’t mind her, she’s had too much to drink—ouch, don’t bite me!"

Adeline gave them one last stare and turned her head, about to dive back into the sea.

Seeing his opportunity, Wise lifted his hand, seconds away from displaying his middle finger, when Adeline glanced in his direction.

He quickly switched from the middle finger to a wave, a fake smile plastered on his face.

Adeline huffed before descending below the waters, sending a large splash that doused them all in water.

Uncoincidentally, Esme was the only one untouched by the wave.

Wise sighed and began walking back to his room.

A monster was on its way, no doubt a dreadful one at that.

"What a great way to start the day."
