Chapter 697 - Triplicate

Everyone sat and waited for the rare ores to appear on stage. Each person hoped to secure what they wanted.

Han Wu waited patiently for the whetstone while observing the three outsiders. They sat together and whispered to each other from time to time. Because his physique was ordinary right now, he couldn’t hear what they were discussing.

The auction moved quickly. A whetstone soon appeared, and Guan Nan placed a bid. Cao Xing maliciously raised the price several times to provoke him, but the latter didn’t care. Cao Xing would soon die anyway, so he treated the extra cost as money to send him to hell. In the end, Guan Nan bought the whetstone for a price one-third higher than the market rate.

Han Wu accepted it with satisfaction and used it on his Small Locust Blade.

Guan Nan was surprised when he saw the weapon. Its quality, shape, and other parameters represented the quintessential model of a Common Divine Weapon.

Did Han Wu use it to kill the old man? Maybe it has a powerful effect? He tried to reassure himself, yet doubts crept in about whether Han Wu could kill Cao Xing.

Han Wu had no idea what Guan Nan was thinking. He had just upgraded the Small Locust Blade into a Faith Divine Weapon. The upgrade reset its rank to zero and allowed him to select one of three effects.

[1: Sharp (Faith): Makes Divine Weapon Sharper]

[2: Durable (Faith): Doubles Divine Weapon’s Durability]

[3: Triplicate (Faith): Makes Two Copies of Divine Weapon]

Han Wu carefully inspected each one. The first was average, and most bladed Divine Weapons possessed that effect. The second could solve the low durability issue. It would allow him to keep the weapon active longer during battles.

Then he saw the third option and made his decision. The moment he selected it, Triplicate infused into the Small Locust Blade, and the weapon split into three Small Locust Blades. Each one showed a durability of 108/108 and retained the Tough and Telekinesis effects.

With three Small Locust Blades, he could control them simultaneously and attack from three different angles. It was a lethal combination. The new effect turned his Small Locust Blade into the strongest Divine Weapon he possessed.

While he was still admiring his newly upgraded Divine Weapon, the crowd suddenly fell silent.

Han Wu looked up in curiosity and saw the auctioneer carefully carry an irregularly-shaped crystal onto the stage. The crystal shimmered with a strange glow.

He looked closer and vaguely saw the figure of a tiger rolling, pouncing, and jumping within it.

Everyone stared at it.

Guan Nan looked over and gasped in astonishment. “To think that they would be selling an Armament Spirit today!”

“Armament Spirit?” Han Wu asked. That was the very reason he had come to this civilization!

“Benefactor Han Wu, don’t worry,” Guan Nan said. “The one on the stage is just a Common Armament Spirit. It's far weaker than the one that you are competing for.”

“But what use does a Common Armament Spirit have?”

Guan Nan explained, “Once a Divine Weapon absorbs an Armament Spirit, the weapon gains sentience and intelligence. With some training, it can shift between its Divine Weapon and Armament Spirit forms.

“Take the tiger-shaped Armament Spirit being auctioned today. Once absorbed into a Divine Weapon and properly trained, the weapon can switch forms between the form of a tiger and the weapon.”

Han Wu nodded as he learned about the Armament Spirit’s special characteristics. He even considered finding one shaped like a horse so he could always have one at his side.

He was still entertaining that thought when the situation changed. The three outsiders sprang into action and stole the Armament Spirit. They took off their robes and hats and summoned their Divine Weapons.

Three wands appeared in their hands. Each wand measured roughly thirty to fifty centimeters in length. They looked so short that the surrounding natives didn’t feel intimidated. Several natives even rushed onto the stage to capture the trio.

“Mors Instantia!” One outsider chanted a strange spell. A green orb shot from their wand and struck one of the natives.

The native died on the spot without any signs of struggle.

“Suspendo!” The second outsider levitated the Armament Spirit into their hands.

The third outsider used a spell to disarm the nearest native. “Arma Expellio!”

Han Wu immediately recognized where they came from. The Divine Weapon Civilization actually invited those from the Magic Civilization? To think it would be so generous.

Han Wu had once visited that place with the Transmigrate Helmet, so he knew about some of their techniques. The trio was clearly using spells from the Magic Civilization, and one of them even cast a taboo spell.

The surrounding natives grew fearful of their spells, and none of them dared to move forward. The trio then summoned their second Divine Weapons: magic brooms. Under the crowd’s stunned gazes, they flew out of the auction hall.

“Don’t let them escape!” the auction manager shouted.

Everyone snapped out of their shock and chased after them.

One of the auction guards was an archer. He grabbed an arrow, drew his bow, and shot it in one swift motion. The arrow struck the outsider carrying the Armament Spirit.

The outsider proved tough. Even after the arrow hit them, they didn’t drop the Armament Spirit. The other two grew furious and turned back to deal with the archer.

A disarming spell and that green death curse followed, and the archer died. Now that no one could threaten them from the ground, the outsiders stopped fleeing. From the air, they began raining spells down on the locals below.

Han Wu had no intention of getting involved until one of them shot a Magic Missile at him. He was still physically weak, but his mind remained sharp. He used a Small Locust Blade to block the attack and remained unscathed.

The trio didn’t notice what Han Wu had done as they continued casting spells at the crowd below. Han Wu was pissed. Now he understood why the natives hated outsiders. Their cruelty ran rampant.

“Well, since you attacked me, I will take that as a declaration of war.” Han Wu sent out the three Small Locust Blades. They shot upward at extreme speed toward the trio in the air.
