Chapter 686 - The Divine Weapon Civilization

When Saliya rushed into class, the other students immediately straightened up, eager to hear her announcement.

Saliya’s eyes scanned the classroom. Upon landing on Han Wu, she let out a sigh of relief. She had been worried he wouldn’t show. A rare opportunity had presented itself, and if Han Wu could once again pull through, he would receive tremendous gain.

“Students, the next major class is extremely important, and I hope all of you will take it seriously. Our next major class will be in the Divine Weapon Civilization!”

Some students were ignorant of the significance of her words, but those knowledgeable about the Divine Weapon Civilization grew visibly excited.

“What’s special about the Divine Weapon Civilization?” Han Wu asked Qin Shuang.

Before she could respond, Sun Qingnian, seated just behind them, answered, “Han Wu, don’t you know? This is what you get for skipping class and not learning the basics.”

“Ok, scholar Sun,” Han Wu said with a roll of his eyes. “Want to tell me what the Divine Weapon Civilization is?”

Sun Qingnian cleared his throat. “Since you’re asking so earnestly, I, being the merciful person that I am, will graciously explain. Listen carefully. The Divine Weapon Civilization is famed for its weapons. There are even records about a powerful weapon with a one-of-a-kind Armament Spirit that can destroy an entire civilization on its own.

“Apparently, the ranking system of the Divine Civilization’s weapons actually originated from the Divine Weapon Civilization as well. I’ve also heard from a friend—Li—that the Divine Weapon Civilization rarely accepts guests from other civilizations.

“The only time they do is when an exceptionally powerful Armament Spirit is about to be born. They send out invitations to various civilizations in hopes that the Armament Spirit will find an owner,” Sun Qingnian explained.

Han Wu noted down everything he learned. This was the first time he had heard of a weapon that could shatter a civilization.

Saliya clapped to call for the chattering students’ attention and gestured for them to stop talking. “I’m sure that everyone here has now searched up information on the Divine Weapon Civilization, and you would be right to assume that this invite is because an exceptionally powerful Armament Spirit is going to appear. The Divine Weapon Civilization is inviting us to their ceremony in hopes that the newly-born Armament Spirit can find a suitable owner.”

The students were thrilled at the confirmation. Most doubted they would be chosen, but they still felt it would be worth seeing the Armament Spirit with their own eyes.

Saliya’s tone changed sharply as she continued, “But there’s a limit to how many people can participate. Only a hundred slots have been set aside for the second-year students. Excluding those not on campus, we still have 532 students. So, the college will require you all to undergo a small test to select the participants.”

Saliya waved her hands, and everyone was transported to a field. Before each of them stood a stone as tall as the students themselves.

“What you see in front of you is a special whetstone,” Saliya explained. “It’s extremely durable and tough.”

With another wave of her arm, long swords appeared before each student. The blades were blunt, dulled to the point that they couldn’t harm anyone.

“These swords are called Light Tap. Hold it and visualize your core race. It will transform based on your units. You must then use it to destroy the whetstone. The first hundred students to succeed will get to go to the Divine Weapon Civilization.”

Everyone quickly grabbed their respective Light Taps and visualized their core race. As explained, the swords changed according to the students’ core races. Some burst into flames or crackled with lightning, while others changed size and shape, even morphing into different weapons entirely, like spears, shields, or a Desert Eagle.

Han Wu held onto Light Tap and visualized his core race: the locust.

In response, his Light Tap shrank from its original hundred-centimeter length to a mere ten-centimeter blade. The presence of the locust emanated from the small weapon.

“Is this even possible?” Han Wu wondered aloud, swinging the blade at the whetstone.

The deafening scrape of metal on stone screeched out, but all that remained on the whetstone was a white mark. He had barely scratched it!

Han Wu was speechless. The weapon of his core race was so weak! This was akin to using an apple peeler!

Suddenly, cheers rang out. Hei Qi had successfully broken his whetstone—the first of the students to do it. He held a long, black sword, having destroyed the whetstone in a single hit.

A second, third, and fourth success came soon after. Each had done it with weapons shaped based on their core race, emanating part of their core race’s power.

Seeing this, Han Wu decided to change tactics. Instead of visualizing his locusts as a whole, he specifically visualized Dark Locust. A suffocating Dark Energy permeated from the small blade. Though the size of the blade hadn’t changed, it had become infused with Dark Locust’s presence.

Han Wu swiped it across the whetstone. A measly ten-centimeter deep gash was left in its wake. However, that didn’t account for the Dark Energy corroding into the whetstone.

Three seconds later, the whetstone broke apart. Han Wu had placed eighty-ninth, which fortunately meant he got to go to Divine Weapon Civilization.

As for his friends, Qin Shuang had placed twenty-first, and Sun Qingnian thirty-sixth.

The trio exchanged smiles, eager to go on another adventure together again.
