The Obsessive Tycoon Claims the Deserted Heiress-Chapter 69 - 068: The Embrace in the Hospital Room
Chapter 69 - 068: The Embrace in the Hospital Room
Chen Cai opened the text message and glanced at it before handing the phone to Shi Wei: "Boss, everything he said is true."
Shi Wei took the phone, and the first message he saw read: [Add another hundred thousand, send her to the Nightclub, and make sure to take plenty of pictures.]
Even though he had never been to that establishment, he had heard of the filthy business conducted within its walls.
Shi Wei scoffed, the violence rising from within almost devouring him whole.
If he hadn't been here tonight, or if she had ingested more of that drug, he couldn't imagine what might have happened.
Shi Wei forcefully tossed the phone to the servant's feet, his eyes gradually darkening.
"It's not... I didn't send any of those messages!" The servant stared incredulously at the familiar yet alien words on the screen, something flashing through his mind before he collapsed onto the ground, laughing maniacally.
He had been tricked. Yu Xinman had deceived him.
No wonder she had borrowed his phone. How had he not realized it sooner? How could a wealthy young lady possibly not have her own phone?
Shi Wei cast him a mocking glance: "Break his hands and legs, then send him to Africa."
Whether the servant had hidden truths or had been duped was irrelevant; nothing could reverse the harm they had attempted against Yu Zhi.
Some deeds, once done, are done. If someone dares to act, they must bear the consequences.
"Wait." Xu Linchuan hurriedly stopped Chen Cai, who was about to make a move. He turned his head to Shi Wei: "Let me take him back instead. I need to figure out where that thing came from."
Afraid Shi Wei might refuse, Xu Linchuan added, "You can deal with the others however you like."
"Alright." Since it was just someone working for others, Shi Wei didn't care much.
But as for Yu Xinman...
Shi Wei's gaze flickered as he leaned into Chen Cai's ear and whispered a few words, giving him a pat on the shoulder afterward.
Chen Cai: "..."
He froze for a moment, his expression shifting as he looked at Shi Wei. Ultimately, he swallowed back whatever he had wanted to say.
Shi Wei's voice wasn't particularly quiet; at least Xu Linchuan, standing nearby, could hear him clearly. Yet Xu Linchuan acted as though he hadn't heard anything, stepping forward quickly to handcuff the servant.
When the group was preparing to leave, the scar-faced man couldn't hold back. He grabbed Chen Cai's arm.
He chuckled awkwardly: "Big bro, please take us in. We're willing to serve you for a lifetime, work like oxen or horses. If you say go east, we wouldn't step a foot west!"
When scar-face heard Shi Wei say 'send them to Africa,' he'd already formed this plan.
In his view, this group of people was definitely untouchable. If he could stick with them, his future would be secure!
Chen Cai looked at him seriously: "You don't qualify."
"Why not?"
"Too weak."
Scar-face: "..."
His eyes darted around as he quickly switched tactics, hugging Chen Cai's leg: "Big bro, you don't know how miserable I've been! I've been bullied since I was a kid. Five times on missions, three times I was beaten up! I want to get stronger too, but no one's willing to teach me! And I..."
Seeing he wouldn't stop, Chen Cai impatiently pushed him away: "I said you don't qualify, and that's final." After all, he had his principles, didn't he?
"Big bro, I really—"
Before he could finish, Chen Cai interrupted him: "Be grateful the boss hasn't sent you to Africa yet. You want to join us? Dream on!"
In the boss's heart, Chen Cai held a unique position. He'd never recruit someone who could potentially overturn the boat later.
Chen Cai cast a faint glance at the group, straightened his back, and mercilessly walked away, leaving them behind.
As he stepped out of the warehouse, pained cries resounded incessantly.
**
The hospital room was dimly lit, with only a small bedside lamp emitting a faint glow.
The young girl lying on the bed fluttered her lashes lightly before slowly opening her eyes. She gazed at the ceiling above, her expression tinged with a trace of dazed confusion.
The air carried the subtle scent of disinfectant—not entirely unpleasant but somewhat unfamiliar.
Yu Zhi blinked a few times. As she tried to sit up, she realized her left hand was firmly held by someone, unable to move.
She turned her head, and the first thing she saw was Shi Wei's handsome face resting on his arm as he leaned against the bed. Perhaps this posture was uncomfortable for him; his brows remained furrowed.
Yu Zhi leaned closer to him, her gaze focusing on his long lashes, resembling tiny, delicate brushes. Unable to resist, she reached out and gently touched them with her fingertips.
Perhaps the softness of his lashes intrigued her. Yu Zhi hesitated momentarily before tracing them again, even beginning to count each lash with a newfound curiosity.
Lost in her exploration, Yu Zhi failed to notice the diminishing distance between them as she leaned closer and closer.
"Zhizhi, stop playing." A husky voice suddenly broke the silence. Yu Zhi looked up in surprise, only to meet his mischievously smiling peach-shaped eyes.
Startled, she tried to retreat, but Shi Wei caught her hand before she could pull back, planting a tender kiss on her wrist.
He moved to sit by the bed, pulling her entirely into his embrace, his chin resting on her shoulder: "Does anywhere hurt?"
"No." Yu Zhi clutched the bed sheet nervously, her entire body stiff and clumsy.
Shi Wei chuckled at her reaction. He had planned to stay silent longer, but the mischievous girl was too tempting, and he couldn't help himself.
"Hungry?" Shi Wei murmured softly by her ear, his hand gripping her waist a touch tighter.
Yu Zhi shook her head, shifting uneasily to create some distance between them.
Her movement caused a dark shadow to pass through Shi Wei's eyes as he domineeringly pressed her down onto the bed.
With one hand around her waist and the other circling her neck, he enveloped her entirely.
"Don't move. Let me hold you for a while," Shi Wei said gently, though his tone left no room for refusal.
The hospital bed was small, and with his movement, the two were pressed closely together.
The faint masculine scent surrounding her left Yu Zhi flustered. She pursed her lips uneasily, her lashes trembling incessantly.
Lowering her gaze, she silently tried to find words. Two flushed patches on her pale cheeks lingered and refused to fade.
After a long time, she finally summoned enough courage to lift her head: "You..."
The man's warm breath fanned across her face. His eyes were closed—he had fallen asleep.
Frustrated, Yu Zhi swallowed her unfinished words and rested her head against his chest. Her mind wandered in circles until she, too, drifted into sleep.
"Zhizhi." Shi Wei opened his eyes and softly caressed her cheek, his voice imbued with tender warmth.
The cool white moonlight filtered through the window, scattering fragmented shadows across the room's corner.
The man and girl lay nestled together on the bed. Shi Wei gazed at the young girl's serene face and, finally, placed a gentle kiss on her forehead.
A soft breeze passed through, taking the warmth of that moment along with it.
