The Mafia Lord's Secret Lover-Chapter 452: Vow Renewal Ceremony
Six years later.
Spring had returned to the Valley.
The season always arrived quietly here, but when it did, it transformed in every sense. The long winter months slowly faded away, replaced by gentle sunlight and fresh colors that seemed to breathe life back into the land.
Green mountains stretched endlessly in the distance, their slopes covered in young leaves that glowed under the morning sun.
The trees surrounding the Valley were full again, their branches swaying softly whenever the breeze passed through.
Near the forest edge, birds sang cheerfully as if celebrating the spring season’s return. The air smelled fresh. The sky was clear. And the sunlight felt warm without being harsh. It was the kind of spring day people remembered for years.
And for Axel and Evelyn, it was the perfect day.
Because today was the day they were finally celebrating their wedding properly in front of their family and closest friends.
The backyard of the Valley house had been transformed into a beautiful wedding space beside the lake.
Fresh flowers decorated every corner of the garden—soft pink roses, white lilies, and pale purple blossoms arranged along wooden tables.
At the center of the garden stood a small altar. A large arch of fresh flowers framed the lake behind it, creating a peaceful, romantic scene.
Under the flower arch beside the quiet lake, the wind moved softly through the decorations, carrying the sweet scent of spring blossoms... Axel stood facing Evelyn.
For a moment, he simply looked at her.
Six years ago, their wedding had never happened; they only signed the papers and took pictures, neither of them truly had the chance to say what they felt. At that time, their marriage had been built on responsibility, promises, and circumstances.
But now things are different.
They had lived together.
Fought together.
Raised children together.
And somewhere along the way, without either of them realizing when it began, they had fallen deeply in love.
Axel reached forward and gently held Evelyn’s hands in his.
His usually confident expression softened.
"I didn’t prepare a long speech," he began, his voice calm but sincere.
A few guests chuckled softly, knowing Axel was never the type to give dramatic speeches.
"But there are a few things I want to say today."
He paused, glancing briefly at Oliver and their twin daughters before looking back at Evelyn.
"When we first met, we were strangers. Our marriage began in a way that neither of us planned."
His lips curved into a small smile.
"I won’t pretend that everything was easy in the beginning. We had misunderstandings, arguments, and many moments where we didn’t fully understand each other."
A few people nodded knowingly.
Axel continued, his voice quieter now.
"But somewhere between those difficult days and the days we meet again and become parents... something changed."
His thumb gently brushed over Evelyn’s fingers.
"You became the person I trust the most. The person I want to come home to every day."
Evelyn felt her chest tighten slightly as she listened.
"You gave me a family," Axel continued. "You gave me a smart son and beautiful daughters. You gave me a life that I never expected to have."
His eyes softened even more.
"So today, in front of our family and friends, I want to promise you something again."
He squeezed her hands gently.
"I promise to continue protecting you and our family. I promise to stand beside you in every challenge, every success, and every quiet day in between."
His smile became warm and steady.
"And I promise that no matter how many years pass, I will always choose you again."
The garden grew quiet.
Even the breeze seemed to slow as Evelyn’s eyes glazed with tears, not because she was sad but because she was too touched by his sincere words.
Axel leaned slightly closer.
"Because you are not just my wife."
His voice softened.
"You are my home."
A few quiet sighs came from the guests.
Then Axel stepped back slightly, giving Evelyn the space to speak.
Evelyn took a slow breath. She hadn’t planned a long speech either.
But standing here, holding Axel’s hands, looking at their children beside them, and seeing the faces of the people they loved... words came more easily than she expected.
"When I first met Axel," she began, smiling faintly, "I thought he was a very difficult man."
Several people laughed quietly.
"He was serious, stubborn, and very good at pretending he had no feelings."
Oscar coughed loudly from the crowd, making Dylan and the others laugh.
Axel simply sighed.
Evelyn continued, her smile growing softer. "Our marriage didn’t begin with romance. It began with responsibility and promises."
She glanced at Oliver and the twins again.
"But life has a funny way of changing things."
Her voice softened as she tried to keep her emotions in check, reminiscing about a time when she was alone. She didn’t want to dwell on it now; instead, she preferred to cherish the happy moments she shared with him.
"Between managing our work and raising our kids together... I gradually realized something."
She looked directly into Axel’s eyes.
"The man I once thought was cold was actually someone who cared deeply about the people he loved."
Her fingers tightened slightly around his hands.
"You protected me, supported me, and stood beside me when life became difficult."
She paused for a moment.
"And somewhere along the way... I fell in love with you."
A soft murmur moved through the guests.
"So today," Evelyn said gently, "I want to promise something too."
She lifted her head slightly.
"I promise to continue walking beside you. I promise to support you when things become difficult and celebrate with you when life brings happiness."
Her smile became brighter.
"And I promise that no matter how busy life becomes, no matter how many children we have running around the house..."
That line made several people laugh again.
"...I will always remember that we started this journey together."
She leaned slightly closer to him.
"From strangers..."
Her voice softened.
"To a lifetime partner."
Then she glanced at their children again.
"To forever parents."
Finally, she returned her gaze to Axel.
"And now... to a family that will continue growing together." 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
Her thumb brushed his hand gently.
"And just like you said..."
She smiled.
"I will always choose you, too."
The garden fell into quiet emotion before the applause, and cheers finally rose around them.
The twins clapped excitedly, even though they were not entirely sure why everyone was cheering.
After the ceremony, pictures were taken everywhere.
Oliver tried his best to look serious in every photo. At the same time, Violet and Magnolia constantly cheered and moved around, making the photographer chase them several times.
Eventually, when the photos were finished, the lunch celebration began.
Long wooden tables had been arranged in the garden, covered with fresh flowers and elegant tableware.
Guests gathered around, enjoying delicious food while soft live music played in the background.
The atmosphere felt relaxed and joyful.
It wasn’t a large or formal event.
This celebration was meant only for family and close friends.
Axel’s parents and grandparents were present, sitting comfortably while enjoying the delicious food and the warm weather.
Evelyn’s grandmother from the Walters family had also come, along with her uncle Jason and aunt Norah Walters.
Alicia, Evelyn’s stepmother, had come with her sister, Stella, but her father, William Walters, did not attend the party.
Aunty Martha and Ethan were also there.
Her maternal family had also come. Her uncle Finley Morgan sat beside her grandfather, Theodor Morgan, both watching the family celebration with pleased expressions.
Unfortunately, her great-grandfather Nicholas Morgan couldn’t join them because he passed away four years ago, right before the twins were born.
Friends join them, too.
