The Lust Lord Librarian-Chapter 36: Brothers
A few seconds of silence passed after Adal spoke.
Next thing he knew, a sword came swinging towards his neck.
It was too fast for him to block. Time seemed to slow down.
Is this the end for me?
CLANG!
Sword met sword, as someone stepped between him and the strike, defending him.
Everything was too fast for Adal to process it, but once events had slowed down, he was able to see what had happened.
The older prince, Bravo, had aimed to kill him, and the younger prince, Virtue, had defended him.
Bravo snarled at his younger brother.
"You dare save this devil’s life? This devil who walks into our home and disrespects our family, whilst being nothing but a librarian?"
Virtue smirked at his older brother.
"This devil might have just revealed a traitor amongst us. I think his life is worth saving."
The two dashed away from each other, putting distance between them, and then they charged again.
"ENOUGH!"
Their charges were stopped by the booming voice of the king. He had a single hand raised, with dark black magic brewing in his palm.
Whatever it was, it was enough to stop his sons from fighting.
"Kneel."
The two princes kneeled. Virtue had a smile on his face, whilst Bravo seemed to be brewing with anger.
Afterwards, the king turned his attention to the only man who wasn’t kneeling in the room. Adal.
"Librarian, do you realise that the accusation you have just thrown out to the Prince is enough to get you hanged, if proven false? I hope you did not throw away your life for the sake of petty drama and earning laughter."
But Adal shook his head. This had nothing to do with petty drama, it was the truth.
"No, your highness, my words are the truth. Prince Bravo was just with the Dwarf today. If I’m correct, he was nowhere to be found at sunrise. That was when it happened."
At that moment, everyone in the room was wondering how on earth a librarian from the Torn Kingdom could have known this information.
Bravo was indeed, absent during morning training. He said that he was feeling ill, and travelled to the woods to fetch healing herbs.
However, Adal had claimed otherwise.
Using his Pleasure History skill, he had immediately searched the men of the room once entering, trying to gather information to use as leverage.
The younger prince was a virgin, he discovered. However, he recognised a dwarven name in the Older Prince’s Pleasure History.
Being a well-researched man with perfect memory, Adal knew much about names, titles, and languages.
In fact, the Emberhand family was one he was well aware of, since that Dwarven family often traded metals with the Torn Kingdom.
Adal was also aware of the fact that the Dwarven Kingdoms were currently under tension with the Iglantis Kingdom.
Using this knowledge, Adal had taken a risk to earn himself favour amongst the King by exposing his traitorous son.
"H-he speaks nothing but lies," Bravo cried in defence of himself. "You know where I was this morning. I was out at the Ashwoods, collecting white poppy for my headache!"
But suddenly, the younger brother attacked this claim.
"We have some of the best doctors here in our castle. I’m sure one of them has access to white poppy. Why travel all the way to the Ashwoods, putting yourself in danger of getting attacked by wolves and bandits?"
"What, is it wrong for a man to want fresh air? I cannot believe that you are all allowing these claims to be made against me!"
Bravo looked towards Opal, who stood watching.
"Sister, even you... This is the man that you intend to marry? One who spreads lies about your brother, and does nothing but read books!"
Opal didn’t answer. She bit her lip, not sure of what to say. All she knew was that Adal was a much more capable man than she had originally thought.
"Your highness," Adal eventually continued. "I’m sure that if you talk to some of the princes’ closest men, and the villagers that live near the path leading towards the closest Dwarven City, they can confirm my words, or at least give hints towards it."
The King scratched his chin for a moment, not listening to the rambles that his son continued to spout in an attempt to defend himself. He was more focused on the words of Adal.
Eventually, he snapped his fingers.
"Lock Bravo up and investigate. As for the librarian boy, keep two guards on him at all times to ensure that he does not try to escape. If his word cannot be confirmed, then we will remove every limb from his body. If his words are true then... Well, we will deal with that when the time comes."
As soon as the King’s words stopped, five knights in armour dragged the struggling Bravo from the hall and restrained him.
Adal noticed a sly smirk on the younger brother’s face. It was clear that there was some sort of conflict going on between him and his brother.
He saw this as his own victory, too.
Suddenly, the portal that Adal had arrived through had reappeared behind him once again.
At the same time, two guards in bright pink armour, wielding greataxes, appeared beside him.
Adal looked up at the king on his throne.
"Once this... situation is finished, I will send my daughter to fetch you again. For your sake, please do not run away. Those guards are both double your level. They will not struggle to catch and cut you down."
Adal looked at the two men. Both were taller than he, and despite wearing pink, they looked menacing. Especially with their helmets that covered their faces.
They seemed to stand a rank above the other knights in the room, who wore regular grey steel armour.
"Yes, your highness."
Then, after sparing one more glance at the nervous-looking Opal, Adal was grabbed by the two knights, and they leapt into the portal together, emerging back into his bedroom immediately afterwards.
Just like that, he had caused chaos in a foreign kingdom, and returned alive.
As he stood in his dark room, he looked at both sides of him.
The knights stood atop his bed, both silent and ready, as though they were guarding castle walls.
Will this really be my life for the next few days?
He let out a sad sigh.
How will I fuck Willow Collins now?
