The Low-key Evil Wizard BOSS-Chapter 49 - 45: Giant Glutton’s Stomach
It was a wide, open space, similar to an underground church.
A considerable number of gas lamps lined the walls.
Aside from those, there were also large murals, many of which were severely peeling.
The humidity was heavy in this basement area, which was unavoidable.
But from these murals, one could tell that this place had once been glorious.
About fifty or sixty people were seated in the main hall.
The faint murmur of conversation was barely audible.
Soon,
a mass of grayish shadow drifted from the corner of the lectern to its center.
Everyone turned to look at the mass of shadow.
A humanoid figure, a Transcendent made entirely of shadow, separated itself from the gloom.
"Mr. Shadow."
He was the founder and manager of this gathering of Transcendent beings.
His identity was a mystery; very few knew who he really was.
Moreover, he possessed an occupation from the extremely rare Shadow Sequence.
After that "shadow," which flickered between light and dark, appeared,
gazes of envy and apprehension arose from the crowd.
"The Shadow Sequence... that’s a considerably rare one."
In a corner of the crowd, Zorn mused to himself.
’In the circles of Transcendent beings, there’s a pecking order.’
’Rare and exceptional Sequences like Mr. Shadow’s Shadow Sequence are undoubtedly at the top of that order.’
’Next are the Caster Sequences, which are also high up, almost on par with the special Elemental Sequences.’
’Then come Sequences like Alchemist, Craftsmanship Master, Pharmacist, and Alchemist.’
’Although their combat abilities aren’t that impressive, they are a well-respected class.’
’Even official organizations and the Church do their best to win over Transcendent beings of these Sequences.’
’The Sequences lying at the bottom of the pecking order...’
’...are the common ones, like Fighting Master, Thief, Assassin, Minstrel, and Martial Monk.’
’Of course,’
’...a World-level BOSS template Sequence like the Evil Spirit Wizard is outside this discussion.’
’No one could possibly look down on an Evil Spirit Wizard, who can bring terror to the entire continent.’
"Any Transcendent with a request may come to the stage to state their needs, or to sell their own tools and items."
"The old rule still applies: a fee of 5 gold pounds is all that’s required."
With no pleasantries or fanfare, Mr. Shadow got straight to the point. His voice was crisp and clear, without a hint of hesitation.
Soon, several Transcendent beings went up to the lectern.
Some sought to purchase things they needed, others sold what they considered to be valuable goods, and some were just there to ask for information.
In the world of Transcendent beings, information is often highly valuable.
At times, it could even be considered priceless.
Zorn waited quietly in the crowd, watching for an opportunity or a valuable item.
However, a valuable item appeared sooner than Zorn had expected.
A man wearing a coarse brown collared shirt and a pale Gargoyle Mask walked onto the lectern, carrying a light yellow, monstrous suitcase.
"Does anyone know the correct way to use a Giant Glutton’s Stomach?"
His voice was slightly hoarse, clearly not his own.
"Hmm?"
Hearing the words "Giant Glutton’s Stomach," a sharp glint flickered in the depths of the pupils of Zorn, who had been languidly observing from the crowd.
’A Giant Glutton’s Stomach... that’s a rare and wondrous item.’
’It’s even better than a regular Glutton’s Stomach.’
’Things that a Glutton’s Stomach can’t digest, a Giant Glutton’s Stomach can.’ 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
’Different versions of the World have their own unique goodies.’
’Apparently, a resource like the Giant Glutton’s Stomach exists in this World.’
’But this type of resource is quite rare, and the method for using it has long been lost.’
’But for Players, this is no secret at all.’
While Zorn was lost in thought, the man asked two more times.
Seeing no response, the man in the Gargoyle Mask shook his head and prepared to pick up his monstrous suitcase and leave the stage.
Just then, a lazy, low voice spoke up from the crowd.
"I happen to know the correct way to use a Giant Glutton’s Stomach. The only thing is... you might not be able to afford the price."
The man on the stage shot upright, his sharp gaze instantly locking onto the young man who had spoken from the crowd.
After scrutinizing the languid young man for a moment, the man in the pale Gargoyle Mask thought for a bit before speaking.
"Would one Giant Glutton’s Stomach be enough to pay your price?"
’He really does have one.’
Zorn sat up straight, a hint of seriousness in his posture.
"How... should we make the trade?"
"After all, you might not believe the method I describe."
The man in the Gargoyle Mask thought for a moment, then looked over at Mr. Shadow.
As the leader who could host and manage a gathering of Transcendent beings, he had to possess an Ability like "True Words" or "Authentication of Truth."
Otherwise, this place would become a paradise for Deceivers.
"I can preside over a ’session of True Words’ for you,"
Mr. Shadow stated in a flat tone.
Soon,
a small "session of True Words" was set up in a corner.
Zorn and the man in the pale Gargoyle Mask sat facing each other across a square table.
Mr. Shadow stood by a lit white candle.
The hazy candlelight passed right through his translucent, shadowy body.
"Alright, you may begin!"
As Mr. Shadow’s voice fell,
the man in the Gargoyle Mask immediately raised the stakes for Zorn.
From his light yellow, monstrous suitcase,
he took out three semi-dried stomachs.
The three semi-dried stomachs were similar in color and size.
"Which one is the Giant Glutton’s Stomach?"
The eyes under the pale Gargoyle Mask scrutinized Zorn, a sharp glint surging within them.
Zorn pointed from left to right, identifying them in order.
"This is Greed’s Stomach, this is the Glutton’s Stomach, and this is the Giant Glutton’s Stomach."
"I didn’t expect you to have so many good things."
Seeing that Zorn had answered everything correctly,
the man in the Gargoyle Mask relaxed slightly.
At least the languid young man sitting before him truly possessed Extraordinary Knowledge in this area.
"Then what is the correct way to use the Giant Glutton’s Stomach?"
The man in the Gargoyle Mask leaned forward slightly, preparing to listen carefully.
"The Giant Glutton’s Stomach is a wondrous Extraordinary Organ with a larger capacity and stronger digestive power than the Glutton’s Stomach or Greed’s Stomach,"
Zorn explained in a soothing voice.
"To install this stomach,"
"First, you must continuously drink fresh water to empty your own stomach in advance. No food residue can remain. You must put yourself in a state of fasting and hunger."
"Water with a Spiritual quality generally works best."
"While emptying your stomach, you must wash the Giant Glutton’s Stomach clean and boil it in water for at least 24 hours."
"The Giant Glutton’s Stomach has astonishing contractility. 24 hours is usually enough to reactivate it and shrink it to the size of a fist."
"However, even then, it is not easy to swallow."
"Swallow?"
Zorn’s words startled both the man in the Gargoyle Mask and the nearby Mr. Shadow.
Clearly, Zorn’s explanation was beginning to challenge their understanding.
"Yes, you need to swallow it."
"At this point, you’ll need a ’Snake Transformation Potion’ to aid in swallowing."
"Of course, if you’re willing to spend a few more gold pounds to buy the more expensive and effective ’Snake Swallowing Potion,’ the results will be even better."
"After drinking the Snake Transformation Potion, in about fifteen minutes, your esophagus will expand, allowing you to swallow the shrunken Giant Glutton’s Stomach whole."
"Then you just have to wait for the Glutton’s Stomach to devour your own stomach and fuse with you."
"The pain is unavoidable."
"Additionally, prepare some food to have nearby. The Giant Glutton’s Stomach is terrifying."
"If you can’t feed it immediately, it will make you so ravenous that you lose your sanity and start gnawing on your own arm."
"And there you have it... that’s the complete process for enjoying your delicious Giant Glutton’s Stomach."
Zorn ended the small session of True Words with a tone of dark humor.
Mr. Shadow, standing to the side, looked at Zorn and seemed to sense something for a moment. Only then did he turn to the man in the Gargoyle Mask and nod slightly.
"He speaks no falsehood."
"Something that sounds so absurd is actually true."
The corner of the eye of the man in the Gargoyle Mask twitched.
But at least he had gotten the information he needed.
