The Long Road to Love: The Capable CEO Dad-Chapter 544: Time to Pay a Proper Visit to the CEO’s Wife
"Let’s go, let’s meet this lady president properly."
Mae Summers tugged Yvette Jacobs along and walked towards Eleanor Hollis.
Mae was a very smooth person. When the Jacobs Family still had their business, she was the one contacting clients outside. Without her, the Jacobs Family wouldn’t have lasted so long. That’s also why Gabriel would never abandon her.
Yvette unwillingly followed along. Speaking of which, she didn’t really have direct conflicts with Eleanor. As for Gloria Galloway, when Gloria chose to take the blame for her, that was her own choice, and Yvette couldn’t be blamed for it.
"Mrs. Quinn."
Mae called out graciously.
Eleanor was discussing Marcus’s condition with the doctor. Hearing someone call her like that, her brows furrowed habitually.
No one had ever called her that, and the voice sounded insincere.
She turned and saw Yvette and a woman walking over. She guessed that the woman might be Yvette’s mother, and her eyes flickered for a moment, but she didn’t speak.
Mae didn’t feel embarrassed and continued to stand by her side with a smile.
"My daughter mentioned having some unpleasantness with you before. I just returned to the country recently, so I don’t know what happened between you two, Mrs. Quinn. You look very young and shouldn’t be someone to hold grudges easily."
With just a few words, Mae cut off everything Eleanor wanted to say. If Eleanor admitted to holding grudges, it would make her seem petty.
Eleanor remained impassive, wondering what this person wanted by approaching her.
"Is Mrs. Quinn here because a family member is ill?"
Mae glanced inside and saw a child lying there. Her eyes showed a hint of realization — it must be Hugo Quinn’s child.
Eleanor blocked her gaze, her expression a bit displeased. She most disliked people having designs on Marcus.
"Mom, let’s go."
Finally unable to bear it, Yvette, who had been standing beside, felt very embarrassed by Eleanor’s cold indifference.
Mae nodded, looking as if nothing was amiss. "I hope the child gets better soon."
Eleanor sneered, raising her head.
"Mae Summers, right? You don’t need to bring your daughter over to make amends. Your daughter knows exactly what she did. Even if she kneeled in front of me, I wouldn’t forgive everything she did, let alone you just saying a few nice words."
Mae’s face turned dark in an instant. How could a mother tolerate someone slandering her daughter like that?
She had always been very proud of her daughter, so how could an outsider deserve to mock her?
But Eleanor’s status made her dare not act rashly. She could only force a smile, pulling Yvette away from there.
Eleanor watched their shadows, always feeling that Vivian Jacobs would be bullied by them. She had already looked through the Jacobs Family’s information. The matriarch of the Jacobs Family was not an easy person, and Vivian had such a burdensome mother.
She sighed, hearing Marcus calling for her, and quickly entered the ward.
"Mommy, when can I be discharged?"
Marcus was waking up more frequently. Initially, he looked a bit pale, but after a few days of care, he looked healthier, even the doctors said he was recovering quickly.
"About a week, and I’ll take you home to recuperate. You have to be good."
She didn’t have much to do recently, with her main task being to take care of Marcus.
Marcus nodded obediently, then suddenly grinned.
"Mommy, last time you said you had something to tell me. What is it? I’m really curious."
Eleanor’s body stiffened, lowering her eyelashes slowly. How was she going to tell Marcus that he was actually her biological son?
Could Marcus accept it? Would he blame her for not being by his side all these years?
Originally, she was confident, but after considering these, she became fearful again.
Adults bear a significant responsibility when a child is deprived of maternal love for so many years. If she had been more careful back then, Grace Lynch wouldn’t have succeeded.
"Marcus, actually you..."
Halfway through her words, she didn’t want to continue.
But Marcus’s eyes were so bright, exuding the charm and radiance unique to his age.
"Mommy, are you trying to say that I’m your biological son?"
Marcus was so sensitive that he guessed the truth just by a random guess.
Eleanor was stunned. How did this child know?
Marcus smiled, pointing at his heart.
"I’ve said it long ago, from the first time I saw you, I knew you were someone very important to me. Later, after interacting with you, I was sure you were my mommy. It’s just that none of you believed me, so I could only keep this secret in my heart."
Eleanor couldn’t help but laugh, embracing him.
"I believe it now. We’ve done a test, and you are indeed my biological son. I’m sorry, Marcus. It was my fault for not keeping an eye on you back then, allowing Grace Lynch to take you away, and I feel very guilty now."
Marcus didn’t speak, his eyes red with excitement.
Eleanor smiled, tapping his head twice. "Didn’t you already guess it? How come you’re still so excited?"
Marcus pouted, "Guessing is one thing, but knowing for sure is another. Mommy, I’m so happy now. I don’t blame you at all. These years have been hard for you too; this was a mistake by someone else. Besides, she’s already received her comeuppance."
The two talked about some secrets, and Marcus, unable to hold on any longer, fell asleep in bed.
Eleanor was reluctant to leave, sitting by his side, occasionally reaching out to gently stroke his head.
In the afternoon, Samantha Sullivan came to see Marcus, bringing a lot of food.
Eleanor looked at her daughter, her face full of a happy smile, and playfully pinched her waist.
"Have you gained weight?"
Women most hate this word. Samantha immediately looked down and checked.
"I’ve indeed gained ten pounds. Evan Yancy’s culinary skills have improved recently, and he can even compare with outside chefs. I’ve been fed fat by him."
Samantha sat by the bedside, seeing Marcus sleeping soundly, she couldn’t resist reaching out to touch him.
"I must say, Eleanor, you’re really lucky. Who knew this was your biological son and so obedient? It makes me jealous."
Eleanor laughed, thinking of Samantha’s daughter, and a plan instantly formed in her mind.
"Do you think we should arrange a childhood engagement for our children? After all, our families have such a good relationship, getting even closer wouldn’t hurt."
Samantha’s eyes lit up instantly. Marcus was a child she really liked, and having him as a son-in-law would be even better.
"Let’s agree on that then, let them marry after they grow up."
Marcus was still asleep, unaware that he had just been arranged for an engagement by his mommy.
