Chapter 534: Chapter 534: You Are the One I Love

The Nash family.

Nolan Nash stood in front of the old man, considerately massaging his shoulders.

"Grandpa, after all, a granddaughter will eventually get married. I just showed you Apex Group’s wealth. If we can own shares, our whole Nash family won’t need to worry about future development. Someone is eyeing your position now. We will have to find a way out eventually, and Hugo Quinn is our way out."

Over the past few days, Nolan had discussed much with the old man. Initially, the old man disagreed, but eventually, he gradually came around.

The old man held the overview of Apex in his hand. He didn’t understand the business world, only knowing that Apex was a formidable company. But when he saw the business conditions of Apex laid before him by Nolan, he realized how narrow his previous understanding was.

"Grandpa, later, Cousin will surely come to see you. Don’t let her persuade you."

Nolan was one who thrived on chaos. Now he was eyeing Hugo Quinn’s assets, using every possible means.

The old man nodded, now very much in agreement with Nolan’s perspective. The proposal posed no harm to the Nash family, and he was willing to do anything for the family’s benefit.

Sure enough, half an hour later, Jean Nash arrived, a layer of anger clouding her face.

"I knew it was you who persuaded Grandpa to say those things, Nolan. Losing five billion wasn’t enough, and now you audaciously want shares in Apex. You’re dreaming!"

Jean was so furious that her chest heaved, wishing she could rid herself of this good-for-nothing, trouble-making fellow.

Nolan’s face showed a slight smile as he reached up to touch his own lips.

"Cousin, what are you saying? Everything I do is for the good of the Nash family. With such an opportunity, why refuse? Don’t forget, you’re a Nash too."

Once again, a hefty label was pinned on her.

Jean glanced at the old man and found him silent, instantly feeling a bit disappointed.

"Grandpa, is this what you think too? Wanting Apex’s shares?"

The old man originally felt guilty towards his granddaughter, but upon noticing Nolan’s gaze, his thoughts became resolutely firm.

"Jean, this is definitely not a bad thing for our Nash family."

Jean gave a cold, desolate smile. Had he ever considered her perspective?

"Grandpa, I will never agree to this. Hand over Shawn Yates. Our Nash family matters have nothing to do with him."

The old man’s brows furrowed. He did indeed send someone to find Shawn Yates, but they didn’t succeed.

"Shawn Yates is not with me."

"Grandpa!!"

Jean’s tone suddenly grew serious, and she slowly clenched her fists.

"I said Shawn has nothing to do with our Nash family matters. If he’s harmed, I’ll sever ties with the Nash family and no longer be a part of it!"

The old man’s emotions were initially stable, but upon hearing this, he angrily slammed the table.

"Shawn Yates is just a poor boy, with no family background. If it weren’t for your insistence on marrying him back then, I would never have agreed to the marriage. Jean, when you married him, I knew you would end up divorced. Now, to you, he’s just an ex-husband. His life or death has nothing to do with you."

Jean kept her head down and said nothing, suddenly finding everything she had done laughable. In that instant, she finally glimpsed the ugly face of the Nash family.

For so many years, her contributions to the Nash family were no less than Nolan’s. Yet now, the old man chose to believe Nolan’s words over hers, willing to sacrifice her for the family’s future.

As she turned to leave, Nolan spoke up.

"Shawn Yates is indeed with us, Cousin. As long as you agree to secure Apex’s shares, I’ll release Shawn."

Nolan’s face was full of malice, his gaze at Jean was also somewhat lewd.

Jean halted, realizing Nolan was unscrupulous and capable of anything. If Shawn fell into his hands, he would surely suffer.

"Cousin, you can take a few days to think about it, but you know my patience has never been good. If Shawn’s life is in danger, you can’t blame me."

This was nothing short of a threat.

Jean’s body stiffened, a flicker of red in her eyes.

"Fine, I’ll seriously consider it."

Everything happening with the Nash family didn’t escape Hugo Quinn’s eyes. To be accurate, he orchestrated it all.

He just wanted Jean Nash out of his life, wanting openly to bring Eleanor Hollis back.

He had someone hide Shawn Yates and went himself to the hospital to visit Marcus.

Marcus was undergoing treatment, getting better every day.

A glimmer of a smile flashed in his eyes as he snapped a few photographs of Marcus and sent them to Eleanor Hollis.

Eleanor hadn’t recovered from the messages yet. Hearing the phone ring, she quickly picked it up to take a look.

A tender light flickered in her eyes as she gently caressed the photos.

She truly hoped the child would recover quickly.

Her spirits lifted somewhat, and she took a deep breath, deciding to go out and see the sun.

No need to return to the countryside; Serenford is her home now.

She rarely took time to dress in front of the mirror, deciding to go shopping.

Planning to buy some needles and threads to knit sweaters for the child in the future.

"Who is that woman?"

Nolan was swiping his card for payment when he noticed Eleanor Hollis entering, a sparkle lighting his eyes.

"Oh, Young Master Nash, why are you asking that,"

The woman beside him clutched his arm, speaking coyly.

Nolan kissed her cheek, but his gaze was still on Eleanor Hollis.

She had light makeup on, perhaps not the most beautiful in the crowd, but certainly the most elegant.

Is she a lady from an influential family?

He glanced down at the woman by his side, instantly losing interest.

"You may go. Consider these as my gifts."

Recently, Nolan had been swiping his card extensively and almost daily changed women. Among the Nash family, he was known for his flamboyant style.

The woman stomped her foot, unwilling to give up, hoping to recover his interest, only to see Nolan already heading towards Eleanor Hollis.

She gritted her teeth, following discontentedly.

"Excuse me, miss."

Nolan approached Eleanor Hollis, eyes gleaming.

"You look just like someone."

Eleanor turned her head, seeing the greasy playboy demeanor, her brows furrowed, wishing to ignore.

"Aren’t you curious? Like who?"

Nolan persisted, following her like an annoying parasite.

Eleanor couldn’t take it anymore and finally stopped.

"Then tell me, who do I look like?"

"The woman in my heart."

Nolan spoke earnestly, grabbing her hand and attempting to kiss it.

Eleanor felt revolted, her skin prickling as if a thousand ants were crawling over her.
