Chapter 71: Successfully Escaped

BOOM!

Alvaric’s body was thrown back, but he was fine. He raised his hand. Alvaric’s face was dead serious, yet filled with a smile.

Aerozar moved his finger. Suddenly, hundreds of explosions echoed. The ground beneath shattered. Alvaric’s body was thrown again. Several houses were destroyed, reduced to rubble.

But that wasn’t the end. Leon jumped down. He raised his weapon and prepared to swing it toward Alvaric.

When Alvaric tried to dodge, his hands were instantly bound by earth magic. Alvaric pulled his leg back and stomped hard onto the ground.

"You won’t be able to escape," said Urkhan.

Leon drew closer. The sword swing grew stronger. At the same time, lightning magic flowed through the sword Leon swung.

The sky darkened. It was like the ultimate attack from Leon, Aerozar, and Urkhan, because after Leon’s slash, the other two were already ready to launch their own strikes.

But instead of panicking, Alvaric looked completely calm. In fact, he wore a sly grin.

"What the...?"

BOOM!

Leon’s slash was massive. It caused an equally massive explosion and shattered the earth beneath them.

Dust rose into the air. Leon leapt back. This time, Aerozar didn’t waste the opportunity. He jumped in and launched an equally powerful attack.

BRAAAAGHH!

The second explosion rang out. The destruction became more terrifying. Alvaric should have been obliterated down to the core. That’s what Leon, Aerozar, and Urkhan expected.

But unfortunately, it wasn’t like that.

"Gotcha!" said Alvaric.

He moved his finger. Hearing Alvaric’s words, the three generals became confused. The phrase "gotcha" should’ve meant that one of them was about to be hit by something.

No one felt anything—until Aerozar sensed something strange. A massive shadow appeared behind him. When he turned around, hundreds of swords were pointed at him.

"Damn it. Since when?" grumbled Aerozar.

One second later, the swords moved and began targeting Aerozar. He tried to dodge them all, but several still landed.

He was hit in a few spots, but none were fatal. Just superficial slashes. Aerozar was relieved to have survived.

But Alvaric laughed loudly. "Finally, preparations complete." He pointed toward Aerozar. "I call this technique: Blood BOOM!"

Nothing happened. Aerozar didn’t feel anything from his body. Leon and Urkhan nodded, ignoring Alvaric’s words. They assumed he was just bluffing.

Just a threat. Both prepared for their next devastating attack.

[0 minutes: 08 seconds]

Time was running out, but Alvaric knew it was enough. His preparation was done. He only needed to execute the final step.

[0 minutes: 06 seconds]

"Die!" shouted Alvaric.

He clenched his fist. That was the final move. At the same time, Aerozar began to feel something strange inside his body.

He felt something trying to break free. It got crazier and more painful by the second.

"Arrrrgh!" screamed Aerozar.

Leon and Urkhan turned their heads. They were truly shocked by what they saw above.

Baaam!

Aerozar’s body exploded. Flesh splattered in every direction. His bones cracked and fell to the ground.

Aerozar’s blood rained down on Leon and Urkhan. Both stood frozen in shock.

"What just happened?"

Alvaric smiled. "My blood entered his bloodstream and began spreading throughout his body. Once his body was filled with 20% of my blood, I forced it out—and... boom, he exploded."

Alvaric laughed maniacally. He was extremely satisfied. This was something he had been planning for several minutes. Slowly but surely.

[0 minutes: 0 seconds]

[Shield Regeneration – expired]

Leon and Urkhan looked furious. They couldn’t accept their comrade’s death. Both charged toward Alvaric.

"You’re dead, bastard!" they shouted in unison.

[Level up! Level 15 to Level 18]

In an instant, all of Alvaric’s stats were fully restored. He could fight again, but the skill Shield Regeneration was now unusable for the rest of the day.

He was aware that the skill was the reason he had won. Without it, he could have lost.

"Looks like someone doesn’t want me to die," said Alvaric.

Just as Leon and Urkhan got very close, a massive attack surged toward them. At the same time, they appeared.

Dust rose again. They sensed another presence, but once the dust cleared—no one was there.

"Where is that bastard?" yelled Leon.

"He ran away. Damn him!"

Leon and Urkhan dashed around to find Alvaric, but they couldn’t. They finally reached the city gates.

They saw a horse-drawn carriage moving away from the capital. They wanted to chase it, but suddenly something appeared in front of them.

"What the..."

Suddenly, a portal appeared before them, and within a second, several figures that looked exactly like Alvaric stood in their way.

They were all equipped with weapons and full armor. The two sides stared at each other.

"Who are you?" asked Leon.

***

Inside the carriage, Alvaric lay down. His whole body felt exhausted. Even though his stats were fully restored, the exhaustion from the long battle lingered.

Not physically, but mentally. Alvaric smiled with relief.

[Reward: 50,000 Evolution Points, Blood Domain, Eye’s of Monarch acquired!]

Alvaric looked at the notification and smiled. He closed his eyes and fell asleep.

"Are we sure it’s okay to do this?" asked Velka.

"The capital is already destroyed. What’s there to be afraid of? And now, only three generals loyal to the king remain. One is already on our side. The other two are still neutral. We can persuade them to join us," answered Serya.

Velka sat on Serya’s shoulder. She stared at Alvaric’s face for a long time. She wasn’t convinced that Alvaric could really do what her master had spoken of.

"I think..."

Suddenly, Serya and Velka turned their heads toward the capital. They saw a bright light shining from the direction of the city gates.

They felt a tremendous power coming from there. The aura was similar to Alvaric’s, but gentler and more refined.

"What’s happening over there?"

"Should I go check it out?" asked Velka.

Serya stayed silent for a moment, thinking, then shook her head.

"No need. We must continue protecting Alvaric," she replied.

Velka nodded. She thought her master was just making a decision to protect Alvaric, but that wasn’t the full truth.

Serya sensed massive Mana from that direction—and not just one source. She didn’t want Velka to get killed by whatever emerged from that massive burst of light.

"I have a bad feeling about this," thought Serya.
