The Last Monarch : Unlimited Regeneration-Chapter 67: Royal Palace (Part 4)
Chapter 67: Royal Palace (Part 4)
The remaining generals combined their magical energy, forming an immensely powerful attack. Then they launched it. A floating octagonal-shaped orb, pulsing and alive, hovered in the air.
"You’ll die with us," said the generals.
The orb dropped, and as it touched the ground, it emitted a blinding light. Less than a second later, it exploded.
BOOM!
An explosion so powerful, it shook the capital like the roar of an enraged god. The deafening blast echoed to the furthest corners of the city. A blinding white light erupted in the shape of a massive energy flower, deafening all ears and burning the surrounding air.
The main gate of Valentharia Palace—with its golden pillars and towering royal emblem—was instantly blown to pieces. The palace’s front walls collapsed into dust.
The ground cracked. Foundation stones were lifted and flung into the air. Thick black smoke rose into the sky, forming a mushroom cloud resembling an apocalyptic storm. In the midst of that devastation, the generals’ voices vanished, swallowed by the wrathful magic they had unleashed—a suicidal attack to take down a foe they could no longer defeat.
Their bodies were annihilated along with the front courtyard of Valentharia Palace. A massive crater formed from the blast, and in its center was a writhing lump of flesh. It was only the size of a thumb, but it was still alive.
[HP: 5/22,000]
Alvaric had nearly died. Luckily, his HP was incredibly high. At the last moment, he had used all of his blood control skills to shield his body, reducing the impact of the explosion. In fact, Alvaric still had one final skill: Shield Regeneration, which allowed him to survive with 1 HP for five minutes.
Still, Alvaric fought to stay alive. Slowly, his body began to recover. Thanks to the effect of his class skills, he would be fully restored in one minute and forty seconds. In less than two minutes, he’d be whole again—though his stamina remained heavily drained.
Only his HP was restored, not his stamina. However, the skill Enhanced Regeneration was undeniably overpowered.
"Damn. I almost died," said Alvaric once he was fully healed.
He stood in the middle of the crater left by the explosion. Water had started to seep into the center. Alvaric didn’t climb out. Instead, he looked up. Three powerful figures were staring down at him.
"Ah... they must be the real generals." Alvaric’s skin crawled as he saw the three figures standing at the crater’s edge. The aura they emitted was completely different from before. "Just like Tamae said. They’re opponents I can’t defeat easily."
His entire body trembled as if urging him to retreat, but he refused. His vengeance wouldn’t be satisfied until the main generals were dead—along with the king who had ordered Clard and Gramn.
Alvaric grabbed his trembling left hand. "Come on now. This will be fun. Bring it on, you bastards!" he shouted.

POV: Serya
On top of one of the city’s buildings, two demi-humans stood. One was a snake-type demi-human named Serya. She was the ruler of the city of Vashtraal. A woman with a nearly perfect mind. Almost none of her decisions were ever wrong.
On her shoulder was her guard, Velka—a loyal mouse-type demi-human. The two had been close since childhood. You could say they were childhood friends, even though their statuses were clearly different. Serya was Velka’s master.
She had to respect Serya as her mistress.
"Are we just going to watch?" asked Velka.
Serya stayed silent. She didn’t answer right away, lost in thought. Her eyes focused on the center of the crater. Moments later, she smiled wide. She saw the lump of flesh at the crater’s center still showing signs of life and slowly growing.
In less than two minutes, that lump of flesh had turned into a human body—something incomprehensible. Serya could only sigh in disbelief. Velka’s eyes widened in shock as she watched Alvaric’s regeneration.
"He’s not mortal," Velka said, her tone slightly fearful. Goosebumps rose on her skin.
"I knew from Raiga that the man named Alvaric had an unreasonable regeneration ability. But this is beyond my logic." Serya was so thrilled that her hands wouldn’t stop trembling. A strange smile spread across her face. "He’s the ideal figure to overthrow that foolish king and... kill the being who calls himself a god."
Velka turned toward her mistress. "Are you sure? I know that man has insane regeneration, but... he can’t use magic except for blood magic. And that’s just for weapons and shields. I think he’ll lose. Even against the generals, he might not stand a chance."
Serya glanced at Velka for a moment. She grinned for a few seconds. "He hasn’t reached his full potential. I’ll help him get there—and when he does... this world won’t stand a chance."
Velka turned away. Seeing Serya smile like that was terrifying. She looked like a demon plotting something wicked.
"I trust you. Whatever decision you make, I will support you. That’s the promise I made since childhood," said Velka.
Serya nodded. "Thank you."

Back at Alvaric’s location. Half his body was already submerged in water. He hadn’t moved at all. Alvaric was physically strong and had exceptional regeneration. But one of his major weaknesses: he couldn’t fly. And now, he was stuck in the center of the crater.
"How do I get out?" he muttered, scratching his head.
If he stayed there, he’d drown... and he wasn’t a very good swimmer. Back on Earth, Alvaric had been a homebody. Swimming pools? Maybe just a few times in his life. He couldn’t even remember if he could swim or not.
"Am I going to die like an idiot?" Alvaric groaned.
He rubbed his chin, trying to think. He tried channeling Mana to his legs and launching himself upward with full force, but at the same time—he lost balance. The suction of the rising water resisted his jump and disrupted his momentum.
The water was already up to his chest. Alvaric clicked his tongue in frustration. He regretted trying to look cool by standing in the middle of the crater and looking up.
"I should’ve jumped out before the water came. Idiot," he muttered.
He sighed deeply and kept trying, but nothing worked. Eventually, Alvaric gave up. He stopped moving. Didn’t even try anymore.
"Looks like revenge will have to wait," Alvaric told himself.
He had already accepted his fate. But then something unexpected happened. Suddenly, someone grabbed his neck. With great force, they pushed him upward—then hurled him back down—but not into the crater again.
Baam!
Alvaric’s body crashed into one of the buildings near the palace. But instead of being worried, he sighed in relief. A wide smile appeared on his face.
"Thanks."
