The Lady of the Prestigious Family is a Big Boss-Chapter 803: How About I Take You as My Godson? (Part 3)
Looking at the two people clinging on the sofa, Ye Jiuliang’s smile deepened.
"Should I come back later?"
Gu Xinuo slipped out of Chu Chen’s arms, her cheeks flushed slightly.
She walked towards Ye Jiuliang with a sprightly gait, "Ajiu."
Instantly, Chu Chen became the abandoned one.
"It’s only been a little while, how come your belly is getting bigger?" Gu Xinuo asked, being cautious since Ye Jiuliang was pregnant, not daring to hug her like before.
It wasn’t noticeable in the first three or four months, the change is really significant.
Ye Jiuliang smiled teasingly, "You’ll understand once you’re pregnant."
Gu Xinuo rolled her eyes, "I can’t out-talk you and your mouth."
Ye Jiuliang chuckled, turning her gaze to Chu Chen, jokingly said, "Achen, you guys got your marriage certificate, hurry up and arrange for your daughter."
Bringing up this topic again, Chu Chen was too lazy to roll his eyes at her.
"Ye Jiuliang, are you worried your son won’t find a wife in the future? Always eyeing ours."
Ye Jiuliang raised her eyebrows, knowing no humility, "With my looks, my son wouldn’t lack for a wife."
"Just don’t let his personality be like yours, or he’ll harm many young girls," Gu Xinuo retorted.
"Having a personality like Li Mochan isn’t good either, it’s too harsh," Chu Chen responded with a suppressed smile.
Ye Jiuliang laughed in anger, "You two are bullying me, huh? Believe it or not, I’ll go complain to my Li Mochan."
Gu Xinuo and Chu Chen exchanged amused glances, saying in unison, "Believe it, why wouldn’t we."
Ye Jiuliang grinned, "Weren’t you going to treat us to a meal? Are we leaving or not?"
"Let’s go." Gu Xinuo hooked her arm around Ye Jiuliang’s, "Achen’s treating, so let’s order a lot."
Upon hearing this, Ye Jiuliang laughed while Chu Chen looked completely exasperated.
Even after getting the marriage certificate, he was neglected, all her favoritism went to Ajiu.
...
After shooting was over, Ji Mingqian fulfilled his promise, instructing Wen Rang to take the staff out for dinner, charging it to his account.
Throughout the day of shooting, he barely exchanged a few words with Jiang Yisheng; once filming was over, he naturally wouldn’t have so many people tagging along.
After dinner, the two didn’t linger outside, instead heading straight back to the hotel.
After showering, Jiang Yisheng didn’t blow dry his hair, huddling on the sofa playing games on his tablet.
Meanwhile, Ji Mingqian changed his clothes and beckoned to him, "Come here, let me dry your hair."
Jiang Yisheng shook his head, lazily saying, "I don’t like blow-drying my hair. I can’t beat this game level. Come teach me."
Ji Mingqian put down the hair dryer, and suddenly, a knocking sound interrupted.
"Knock knock—"
"Asheng, it’s me."
The gentle female voice filtered through the door, the tone was clear; Jiang Yisheng immediately recognized who it was.
His hand shook, dropping the tablet, and he sprang from the sofa.
Why did his mother show up?
Oh no, oh no.
"How come your mom’s here?" Ji Mingqian also recognized the voice as Veya’s, his face changed a bit.
The unexpected arrival of his future mother-in-law shook him to the core.
Jiang Yisheng shushed him, lowering his voice, "I don’t know either."
"Knock knock—"
The knocking sounded again.
"Asheng."
For a moment, Jiang Yisheng was at a loss, grabbing Ji Mingqian’s arm, "Quickly, tidy up the room, don’t let my mom notice anything off, hurry."
Wanting to confess their relationship together, now wasn’t the time.
Ji Mingqian had never been in a situation like this before, unusually slow to react.
The two flailed around cleaning up the room like headless chickens.
"Bang—"
Their foreheads collided, causing Jiang Yisheng to step back, reddening his forehead.
He clutched his forehead, looking at Ji Mingqian, hesitatingly said, "Should you just climb out the window?"
Ji Mingqian, "..."
Feeling extremely disappointed.
"Asheng, are you in there?" Veya’s urging voice reached his ears, leaving Jiang Yisheng even more muddled.
"What’s the rush?" Ji Mingqian held him back, calmly said, "You go open the door and say later that I’m just visiting since I live next door."
Jiang Yisheng consented, took a deep breath, and swiftly went to open the door.
"Mom, why did you come suddenly? I was just playing games, didn’t hear your voice." As the door opened, he raised a smile.
Seeing him safe and sound, Veya breathed a sigh of relief. Although he had called home, she still worried without seeing him.
She reached out, lightly hitting his arm, "You finally decided to come back. Disappearing without a trace, what are you thinking?"
Jiang Yisheng smiled, letting her scold him, apologetically said, "Mom, sorry for worrying you, I’m fine, see?"
"What ’fine,’ do you know how worried I was? You’re just too bold. Wait till you go back and your dad will deal with you," Veya complained.
"Aunt," Ji Mingqian interjected smoothly, rescuing Jiang Yisheng from the situation.
Veya belatedly noticed there was someone else in the room. Seeing Ji Mingqian, she appeared surprised, "Mingqian is here too?"
"I’m here handling some business in J City," Ji Mingqian calmly replied.
Jiang Yisheng chimed in, "Yeah, he just happens to be staying next door, visiting and playing games with me."
"Agreeing on everything." Veya glared at him, "With Mingqian here, I’ll give you face, deal with you later."
Jiang Yisheng chuckled awkwardly, not daring to argue.
"Aunt, please come in and sit down. When did you arrive, have you eaten dinner?" Ji Mingqian asked, showing concern.
Veya’s lips curled into a gentle smile, "Just got here, already had dinner."
"Aunt, have some water," Ji Mingqian offered a glass of water respectfully with both hands.
Nearby, Jiang Yisheng watched Ji Mingqian’s attentive manner, slowly pressing a smile at the corners of his mouth.
"Mingqian, you’re still the better one, unlike Asheng, always causing me worry. Even now, he hasn’t served me any water." Veya said, casting a sideways glance at Jiang Yisheng with a hum.
Jiang Yisheng placed his hands in front, obediently listening.
Staying quiet in situations like this is the smartest choice.
Veya set down the glass and out of the blue, said, "Mingqian, how about I adopt you as my godson?"
He had been an orphan since childhood, and she felt he was very compatible with their family—adopting him would certainly make the household even livelier.
