Chapter 786: 786. Master Jiu has such a big temper (1)

Ye Xin barely nodded, then grabbed Xiang Zhen’s hand urgently and asked, "Mom, if my brother gets the inheritance rights to Ye Group, will Jingjie really come back and marry me?"

Xiang Zhen patted her hand soothingly. "He will. Li Jingjie is a man who values benefits the most. With Ye Group backing you up, he will come crawling back to you sooner or later."

Hearing this, Ye Xin felt like she had taken a reassurance pill and regained some of her composure.

"Alright, you stay at home, I am going to visit your uncle’s company," Xiang Zhen said.

She had to take the opportunity while Ye Yu was too preoccupied to deal with company matters to find a chance to completely drive her out of the Group, to prevent her from having the power to fight back later.

Ye Xin responded absentmindedly with a hum.

...

As the lanterns were lit, they weakly illuminated the quiet outskirts.

As soon as they stepped off the plane, Ye Jiuliang and Li Mochan headed straight for Ye Yuan’s place.

As they reached the doorstep, a tempting aroma sneaked out from the gap in the window.

Ye Jiuliang took a light sniff; it was the scent of sweet and sour pork ribs—undoubtedly her uncle’s cooking.

They walked up the steps and, before they could knock, the person inside opened the door as if on cue.

As the door swung open and the soft moonlight shone on the man’s smiling face, Ye Jiuliang stepped forward and affectionately hooked her arm through his, sweetly calling out, "Dad."

Seeing her so well-behaved, Ye Yuan knew she was just trying to butter him up to avoid his nagging.

Ye Yuan lightly tapped her forehead with a smile, saying without temper, "You girl, traveling far without even telling me, you’re getting bolder."

Ye Jiuliang chuckled, "I was only gone for two or three days, it’s hardly a trip."

"You," Ye Yuan said, shaking his head resignedly, "come in and wash up for dinner."

Ye Jiuliang grinned and nodded, pulling Li Mochan into the house with her.

"Uncle, what delicious food are you cooking?"

After washing up, Ye Jiuliang, wearing slippers, sashayed into the kitchen.

"Do you need any help?"

"You little rascal, don’t talk sweet—just not making things worse would be enough gratitude," came the reply.

Listening to the laughter from the kitchen, the corners of Li Mochan’s lips lifted slightly.

"Was Mo Ce dealt with by you guys?"

Ye Yuan’s voice drew back his attention, and Li Mochan looked up at him, giving a faint hum of affirmation, "All taken care of."

Ye Yuan let out a sigh of relief at the casual response, as if he had finally let go of his past burdens.

He did not inquire about how Mo Ce was dealt with, nor did he probe into the consequences; Ye Yuan was no longer concerned about these matters.

His gaze turned towards the kitchen, his eyes softening with a tender smile.

As long as his precious daughter was happy, that was all that mattered.

After drinking a cup of tea, Li Mochan stood up to help in the kitchen.

As he approached, he saw Ye Jiuliang being chased out by Mingchong.

"Mohan, there’s no need for you to help here. I’m almost done cooking. Just take Ajiu, this little troublemaker, away," Mingchong said as he stretched out his hand to close the glass partition door.

From his tone, Li Mochan sensed that their wolf cub was being shunned.

He looked down at the person in his arms and chuckled softly, "What kind of sabotage did you do in there?"

Ye Jiuliang looked up innocently, "I just snuck a rib, and accidentally knocked over the salt shaker."

Li Mochan smiled wryly, sighed, and pinched her cheek, "You troublemaker."

"I’m not," Ye Jiuliang swatted his hand away and caught a glimpse of the scenery outside the floor-to-ceiling windows, her eyes brightening.

"Let’s go over there and have a look." 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

Li Mochan let her pull him along, and their steps naturally fell into sync.

The evening breeze wafted by, still carrying a touch of mugginess.

Ye Jiuliang looked at the garden where the seedlings had been planted, and suddenly remembered something. She turned to the man behind her, "Hey, I remember you said you were going to plant a flower for me."

Fair fingers spread out, "Where’s the flower?"

It was rare for her to remember that, Li Mochan grasped her hand, with a smile forming at the corners of his mouth, "If you hadn’t mentioned it, I would’ve totally forgotten about it."

"Liar." Ye Jiuliang pulled her hand back, giving him a sidelong glance, "Just as I thought, all men are pigs."

With that, she quickened her pace to walk past him toward the house.

"Where are you going?"

A strong arm wrapped around her waist and gently pulled her back into his embrace.

Ye Jiuliang collided with his chest, and looking up, the man’s chiseled jawline came into view, "Are we that close? Let go."

Suddenly, the weight on her shoulder increased as the man’s handsome face came closer.

"Master Jiu has such a temper, getting angry this easily?" His magnetic voice resonated near her ear, low and captivating.

Ye Jiuliang raised an eyebrow, "I do have a temper, is this news to you on the first day?"

"I was actually planning to bring the flower from my office home tomorrow, but it seems that might be unnecessary now," Li Mochan’s tone was teasing, with a hint of a taunt.

Ye Jiuliang was taken aback.

Realizing what he said, she spoke with surprise in her voice, "You really planted a flower?"

Li Mochan’s eyebrows lifted slightly, "Shall we go have a look tomorrow?"

Ye Jiuliang, holding back laughter, "Can you keep a flower alive?"

Facing her underestimation, Li Mochan narrowed his eyes dangerously, and the hand around her waist tightened, "Say that again."

"Cough, cough." Ye Jiuliang chuckled dryly, quickly changing the subject, "Let’s go, it’s time to eat."

"Dinner isn’t urgent. Say what you just said one more time," Li Mochan held onto her, not intending to let her get away easily.

He had put in no little effort for that flower, and she dared to make a joke out of him; he couldn’t let her off so easily.

Ye Jiuliang sensed trouble, her eyes darting as she feigned ignorance, "Did I say something just now?"

Before she finished speaking, Mo Chen’s voice came from the other side of the French windows.

"Sister, brother-in-law, come and eat."

"Time to eat, let’s go, let’s go," Ye Jiuliang immediately took the opportunity to pull Li Mochan inside, internally thanking Mo Chen.

Li Mochan watched the back of her head, a sly smile curving his lips.

The account could be kept for now; they could settle it slowly at home.

During the meal, Mingchong brought up Ye Miao’s injury, and only then did Ye Jiuliang learn that such an incident had occurred while she was away from the capital.

"How is Ye Miao now?" she asked while gnawing on a rib.

Ye Yuan said, "I heard he’s awake, but the injuries are serious. He’ll need a long period of rest."

Ye Jiuliang’s eyebrows raised. Someone had hit so hard; the perpetrator was quite ruthless.

"You don’t need to worry; I’ve been looking into it." Ye Yuan said soothingly. He didn’t want such matters to disturb her mood, especially when she was pregnant.

Ye Jiuliang curved her lips, speaking in a light tone, "I’m not worried; it’s none of my business."

Whether Ye Miao lived or died was immaterial to her; what piqued her curiosity was whether the one who hit him had any connection to a certain person from the Ye Family.

She certainly wouldn’t take the fall for someone else for no good reason.
