Chapter 74: 074. Is it your certain confidante? (One more update)

"You’re blocking my way," Ye Jiuliang said while idly tucking her hands into her pockets, her cool voice carrying a hint of petulance.

Li Mochan stepped forward, abruptly closing the distance between them, his magnetic voice lowered, "I was joking with you, I haven’t forgotten the bet."

"What are you talking about? I don’t understand a word," Ye Jiuliang replied, the corners of her lips curling into a playful smirk as the tables turned.

"Are you really mad?" Li Mochan leaned in close, frustration and indulgent affection mingling in his eyes before returning to calm.

Looking up at the man’s conciliatory smile, Ye Jiuliang pursed her lips and said grumpily, "This time I’ll let it go because of the motorcycle, but if there’s a next time... Hmph."

In public, a handsome man paired with a beautiful woman was bound to draw attention, even more so when the man was the famous Li Mochan of the capital.

The moment he appeared here, countless pairs of eyes from the shadows fixated on him; but what truly set tongues wagging was the unprecedented sight of Li Mochan bringing along a woman.

And not just any woman—it was Ye Jiuliang, whose reputation had been the subject of much recent gossip.

Those who dined at Jiangyue Restaurant were mostly well-off and influential. The incident at Li Mochan’s birthday party had already become an open secret among the social circles—Li Mochan taking a stand for Ye Jiuliang was now a topic of casual conversation.

Seeing the two of them at Jiangyue Restaurant again today made it hard for onlookers not to speculate.

Sensing the increasing number of glances thrown their way, Li Mochan furrowed his brows and reached out to pull Ye Jiuliang upstairs.

"Hey, why are you pulling me? I can walk on my own," she protested.

With his long strides, a single step for him was one and a half for her. Being dragged along in such a manner was utterly humiliating.

Her skin, white as suet jade, cool and smooth to the touch, Li Mochan let go of her hand, his fingertips still holding the faint scent of her.

He slowed his pace, waiting for her to catch up.

"Do you eat here often?" Ye Jiuliang asked casually as he led her through the restaurant with ease.

"You could say that," Li Mochan replied.

Feeling a gaze fixed on them, Ye Jiuliang looked up to see a woman in a beige suit, subtly made up, beautiful and intelligent.

At the moment, the woman’s watery apricot eyes were fixed on them, or more precisely, on Li Mochan.

Ye Jiuliang raised an eyebrow, finding this woman somewhat familiar.

After a few seconds of recollection, she suddenly remembered seeing this woman once at Li Mochan’s birthday party.

It was on the terrace.

She bumped Li Mochan’s elbow with hers and teased, "Li Mochan, there’s a beauty over there staring at you. Could she be one of your intimate female friends?"

When Li Mochan followed her gaze, Su Yishan hadn’t expected him to suddenly look her way and her heartbeat quickened.

His gaze, cold as thin ice, shifted away in less than two seconds.

Flooded with a sense of loss, Su Yishan bit her lip, her eyes landing on the girl beside him and feelings of sourness and jealousy involuntarily rising within her.

He actually brought Ye Jiuliang here for a meal and was so affectionate with her.

Li Mochan looked down at the person beside him, his expression revealing unusual emotions, and said softly, "No."

Caught off guard by his terse response, Ye Jiuliang was puzzled, "What?"

"I’m hungry," Li Mochan abruptly changed the subject and walked ahead of her.

"Hey, what did you mean just now by ’no’?"

The person walking ahead remained silent, leaving her with only his back.

Why did it feel like he was mad again?

Ye Jiuliang hurried to catch up, just as she was about to speak, the person beside her suddenly spoke up, "An intimate friend, no."

The short sentence was laced with seven parts annoyance and three parts helplessness.

Upon hearing this, Ye Jiuliang paused for a few seconds and then burst into unrestrained laughter.

"I was just joking, why are you taking it so seriously?"

He couldn’t help but flick her forehead lightly with his knuckles, "Don’t matchmake me at random."

With that, he pushed open the door of the adjacent private room.

Ye Jiuliang followed him into the room with a smile on her lips.

After dinner, Ye Jiuliang went back to Mo Garden with Li Mochan.

Just as they got out of the car, they met Madam Jiang taking a walk in the courtyard.

"Xiaojiu, you’ve finally come," Madam Jiang said affectionately, taking her hand. The warm and kind smile made Ye Jiuliang feel slightly uneasy.

She responded with a faint smile, "Madam Jiang."

"Don’t call me Madam Jiang, it’s too formal. Just call me Grandma Jiang," Madam Jiang said, grinning from ear to ear.

Ye Jiuliang obligingly switched, "Grandma Jiang."

Grandma Jiang beamed in response and then said, "It’s hot outside, let’s go inside to talk."

"Grandma Jiang, there’s no need, I just came to get something. I’ll be leaving soon," Ye Jiuliang softly declined.

Hearing this, Madam Jiang was startled for a moment, then looked down, sighing, "Never mind, I know you young people don’t like eating with us old folks, afraid we’ll talk your ears off."

"Grandma Jiang, that’s not what I meant," Ye Jiuliang said with a laugh.

Madam Jiang let go of her hand and turned away, "You promised me last night you’d stay for dinner and then you left before we could eat. It’s rare for you to come over today, and you’re in a rush to leave without even sitting down."

She paused, then lifted her hand to dab at the corner of her eye, "Xiaojiu, if you loathe Grandma Jiang, just say it. I may be old, but I can take the blow."

As Li Mochan came over after parking the car and heard Madam Jiang’s words, he couldn’t help but suppress a smirk. His grandmother was quite the actress.

Although he knew she was putting on a show, Ye Jiuliang nevertheless surrendered, perhaps because the old lady reminded her a bit of her own mischievous old master.

That was why she kept softening.

"Grandma Jiang, should I stay for dinner then?"

"That would be wonderful," Grandma Jiang immediately turned around, her eyes sparkling, no sign of tears to be seen.

She took Ye Jiuliang’s hand and led her into the house, "Come on, let’s sit in the living room. I’ll have Mumu make you something delicious."

When it came to Ye Jiuliang, Li Mochan was suddenly treated like an afterthought; Madam Jiang didn’t even glance at him as she chatted enthusiastically with Ye Jiuliang.
