The Lady of the Prestigious Family is a Big Boss-Chapter 730, Heartless and unfeeling person is you (3)
The person in front suddenly turned around, looking at him with profound eyes, "Ji Mingqian, did you just say Asheng is heartless and brainless?"
Ji Mingqian kicked up a small stone with the tip of his shoe, casually catching it with his hand, "So what if I did? Are you planning to stand up for your family now?"
Watching his carefree demeanor, Li Mochan’s expression remained indifferent, "If that’s the case, from now on, stay away from Asheng."
At those words, the light teasing smile on Ji Mingqian’s face froze.
Looking up, he stared at Li Mochan in astonishment, not quite grasping the meaning behind his words.
"Don’t you understand?" Li Mochan arched his eyebrows lightly, speaking deliberately, "You said Asheng is heartless and brainless, and you also claimed that Asheng’s affairs will no longer involve you. So from now on, you better stay away from Asheng, it’s best to cut off all contact completely."
Ji Mingqian’s fingertips loosened, and the small stone fell from his palm.
He moved his lips, "Li Mochan, you..."
He had only said it on impulse in anger, why was Li Mochan taking it so seriously?
Could it be that he was overprotective of his brother?
"Ji Mingqian, what does Asheng mean to you?" Li Mochan interrupted him, asking bluntly.
"A friend like Chu Chen and the others?"
Ji Mingqian said, "Nonsense."
Hearing this, Li Mochan snorted coldly, "I don’t think so. Ask yourself, between Chu Chen and Asheng, are you sure they mean the same to you?"
Without a second thought, Ji Mingqian was about to answer, "Of course..."
The words stopped abruptly, and he froze on the spot.
Are they the same?
"The things you gave to Chu Chen, would you care if he has to carry them with him all the time?" Li Mochan continued.
In just one night, the necklace appeared again around Asheng’s neck; it was obvious who had put it on him.
Feeling as though his tail had been stepped on, Ji Mingqian’s expression turned unnatural, with a feeling of embarrassment as if someone had seen through his thoughts.
"I..."
He stuttered, the usually eloquent man at a loss for words.
Li Mochan stepped forward, passing by his side, his voice deep, "Ji Mingqian, in fact, you are the one who is heartless and brainless."
Everyone from the Jiang Family is hopelessly devoted, committed to just one person for life. Honestly, he wished Asheng could be a little more heartless and brainless, so at least he wouldn’t be so stubborn.
Ji Mingqian’s eyes suddenly dilated, and his gaze trembled while his hands involuntarily clenched by his sides.
The sound of footsteps drifted away.
In a moment, the courtyard was left with only Ji Mingqian on his own.
He hung his head low, his facial expression indiscernible.
Back at the dining room, Ye Jiuliang was already half full.
Looking behind him and confirming that he returned alone, Ye Jiuliang asked casually, "How come it’s just you, where’s Aqian?"
Gu Xinuo joined in, "Don’t tell me Aqian got knocked out by you and is lying outside?"
Li Mochan pulled out a chair to sit down, speaking indifferently, "He’s outside getting some sun."
"..."
Getting some sun?
What’s that supposed to mean?
Ye Jiuliang tugged at Li Mochan’s sleeve, trying to hold back a laugh, "Did you really knock him out?"
Li Mochan, exasperated, "We didn’t even touch each other."
"Then what did you talk about with him?" she asked again.
Curious glances came from across the room as Li Mohan teased, "Just chit-chat."
Ye Jiuliang pouted; she didn’t believe it for a second.
With an aura ready for a fight, was that really the rhythm of just chit-chatting?
After waiting for quite a while without Ji Mingqian’s return, Chu Chen had no choice but to get up and look for him.
Finding his way to the courtyard, Chu Chen saw the person sitting under the big tree and wondered. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
"Aqian, what are you pretending to ponder over here?"
A low voice came from above. Ji Mingqian ignored it as he plucked at the grass on the ground with a sullen face.
Chu Chen, puzzled, sat down next to him.
He elbowed him lightly and said, "Talk to me, what’s wrong?"
Ji Mingqian was still silent.
"Did Li Mohan hit you?" Chu Chen said, noticing the corner of the grassland nearly plucked bare, his lips curling into a resigned smile.
"Or did he say something that hurt you?"
Ji Mingqian said gruffly, "Achen, do you think I’m heartless and thoughtless?"
Chu Chen was taken aback at first, then, realizing what he said, found it a bit funny. "Ji Mingqian, has your brain gone funny? That’s not something one would expect to hear from you."
"Your brain is the one that’s gone funny," retorted Ji Mingqian, throwing away the grass in his hand and snapping at him.
Chu Chen laughed softly. Indeed, this was more like the Ji Mingqian he knew.
After laughing, he couldn’t help but be curious, "What did Li Mohan talk to you about that’s left you looking half-dead?"
Ji Mingqian hid the emotions in his eyes and evasively said, "It’s nothing."
"Is it about Yisheng?" Chu Chen guessed.
To his surprise, he guessed right.
Ji Mingqian denied vehemently, "No, it’s not."
Having grown up together since childhood, Chu Chen could easily tell when he was lying. The quicker he denied and the more he acted like nothing was wrong, the more it confirmed Chu Chen’s suspicions.
He pressed further, "You came back so angry just earlier; did you have a conflict with Yisheng?"
"No," Ji Mingqian stubbornly persisted.
"Cut it out," scoffed Chu Chen, giving him a look. "If there’s no conflict, why would you curse him out?"
Ji Mingqian was running out of steam, "Who cursed him out?"
"When Yisheng went missing, you were more anxious than anyone. Now that he’s been found, you’re having a conflict with him. Are you two playing house like children, changing attitudes every other minute?" Chu Chen commented.
Ji Mingqian denied it again, "Who was anxious? I wasn’t anxious."
"Don’t deny it here," Chu Chen plucked a handful of grass and tossed it at him. "Ji Mingqian, aren’t you being childish? You’re several years older than him; you should be the elder here. And yet, you’re having conflicts? Can’t you be a little more magnanimous?"
Ji Mingqian shook off the grass from his clothes and muttered, "Who wants to be his brother? You’re clueless, so stop nagging."
Seeing him constantly frowning, Chu Chen teased, "What, are you two on the outs now?"
Ji Mingqian fell silent, picking up small stones from the ground and throwing them into the distance.
His actions were fierce, and yet inexplicably childish.
Chu Chen watched and found it even more amusing.
It had been a long time since he’d seen Ji Mingqian like this, resembling the times in their childhood when he took the blame for Ajiu and got punished by their master.
That frustrated and dejected look.
