The Lady of the Prestigious Family is a Big Boss-Chapter 723, Slightly annoyed (2)
"Jennifer," Veya exclaimed upon seeing the person at the door, a hint of surprise on her face.
Clearly, she had not been expecting Jennifer to come here either.
"Auntie, may I come in?" Jennifer looked at Veya and asked softly.
"Of course, you can," Veya said.
No sooner had she spoken than Jennifer was delighted and Jiang Yisheng was disgruntled.
His brows drooped, his entire head seemingly covered with black lines.
Nothing but awkwardness.
"Auntie, I heard that Brother Yisheng was sick, so I came to visit," Jennifer said gently, holding a bouquet of flowers in one hand and a fruit basket in the other.
Ji Mingqian, "..."
Brother Yisheng?
She’s calling him that affectionately?
He felt goosebumps rising on his skin.
Veya’s lips curved slightly, "It’s nice that you’ve come, but why bring things with you? It’s too much trouble."
"It’s no trouble." Jennifer placed the fruit basket on the table, turned to look at Jiang Yisheng, and handed over the flowers, "Brother Yisheng, I wish you a speedy recovery."
The faint scent of flowers lingered at his nose. Jiang Yisheng glanced at them and said coolly, "Thank you."
As he reached out to take the bouquet, someone else beat him to it.
"He has an injury on his shoulder and can’t hold them. I’ll take them for him."
Ji Mingqian reached out and took the bouquet, a faint smile playing on his lips.
Jennifer recognized him, a glint of recognition in her eyes.
It was Ji Mingqian.
He was even more handsome in person than on the screen. If she hadn’t already taken an interest in Jiang Yisheng, she certainly would have chosen Ji Mingqian.
Jiang Yisheng gave him a sidelong glance but didn’t contest.
Ji Mingqian looked down at the bouquet in his hands, feeling an urge to toss it into the trash.
Checking his wristwatch, the time was almost up. Ye Jiuliang and Li Mochan exchanged glances.
In unison, they both stood up. Ye Jiuliang said, "Grandma, we have to go now; we have other matters to attend to."
"You’re leaving so soon?" The elderly Mrs. Jiang looked at her reluctantly.
The corners of Ye Jiuliang’s mouth lifted slightly, his voice as soft as ever, "We’ll come to have dinner with you tonight."
At that, Mrs. Jiang smiled contentedly.
"Good, it’s a promise; don’t forget," she reminded them.
Ye Jiuliang nodded and turned to Ji Mingqian, "Are you coming with us?"
A barely noticeable smile flickered in Li Mochan’s eyes, somewhat relishing in schadenfreude.
Meanwhile, Jiang Yisheng’s gaze drifted over involuntarily, waiting for his response.
"You guys go on ahead, my grandma still has something to take care of," Ji Mingqian said, keeping his composure.
Upon hearing this, Ye Jiuliang did not insist any further and, pulling Li Mochan along, left.
"Grandma Jiang, have you had breakfast yet? Would you like to join us?" Ji Mingqian put the bouquet aside and asked warmly.
"We’ve eaten already," Veya responded, noticing the uneaten takeout on the table, "Have you not eaten yet?"
"Not yet," Jiang Yisheng said quickly, hoping that Jennifer would leave soon.
Grandma Jiang spoke, "Well, you two should eat quickly before it gets cold."
The strong perfume odor lingered in his nose, so cloying that Jiang Yisheng felt like he could hardly bear it, and he couldn’t help but scrunch up his handsome eyebrows.
Did she pour an entire bottle of perfume on herself?
Ji Mingqian took the breakfast out of the bag and glanced at the person sitting across from him. Catching sight of Jennifer sitting next to Jiang Yisheng, his eyes flickered with a deep meaning.
He felt a tinge of annoyance.
"Yisheng, come sit over here; your uncle is still standing." 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
Eager for a reason to move away from Jennifer, Jiang Yisheng rose immediately upon hearing Ji Mingqian’s words.
"Dad, please sit."
Making his way around the table, he sat down beside Ji Mingqian.
He had barely touched the sofa when the person beside him whispered a complaint, "Did that Miss Jennifer spill her perfume all over herself?"
What does he mean by ’his’ Miss?
Jiang Yisheng rolled his eyes at him but found it amusing.
"What would you like to eat?"
Ji Mingqian took a cup of coffee and placed it in front of himself, then turned his head to look at Jiang Yisheng, "Vegetable porridge, is that okay?"
Jiang Yisheng wasn’t picky, so he nodded.
After finding him a soup spoon, Ji Mingqian brought over the still hot bowl of vegetable porridge and placed it in front of him, "There’s also bread. Do you want some?"
Jiang Yisheng picked up the spoon and shook his head slightly, "No need, the porridge is enough for me."
The faint aroma of coffee wafted to his nose, and Jiang Yisheng licked the corner of his lips, feeling tempted by the coffee in Ji Mingqian’s hands.
With his gaze fixed, Ji Mingqian found it hard to ignore.
"Don’t look at me, Ajiu only bought one cup of coffee, and you can’t drink it right now, so looking at me is pointless," he said as he took another sip of his coffee.
Jiang Yisheng glared at him, stingy.
"Brother Yisheng, if you want to drink coffee, I can make some for you when you’re feeling better. You can taste my skills," Jennifer chimed in with a smile during the pause.
Jiang Yisheng thanked her, his tone distant, "No need, I don’t really like coffee that much."
"Is that so?" Jennifer’s smile froze, and she felt a bit awkward.
Veya glanced at Jiang Yisheng with a look of helplessness in her eyes.
Not liking coffee? Then who bought all those coffee machines at home.
This damn kid is just not into the girl.
Ji Mingqian watched as Jennifer’s expression became slightly awkward, and the corner of his lips, hidden behind the rim of the cup, quietly curled up.
He shifted a bit to the side, leaning closer to the person beside him, "Then what do you like to drink?"
Noticing the teasing tone in his words, Jiang Yisheng gave him a sidelong glance and darkly replied, "Your blood."
Ji Mingqian, "..."
Was he just making a joke? Was there really a need to be so fierce?
After finishing the coffee, Ji Mingqian picked up another bowl of porridge. It was also vegetable porridge, but it was different from Jiang Yisheng’s.
Especially since his bowl also contained bitter melon, which he detested the most.
Suppressing the urge to retch, Ji Mingqian bent his elbow and nudged Jiang Yisheng’s arm, "Let’s swap bowls."
"Why?" Jiang Yisheng looked at him with questioning eyes.
"My bowl has bitter melon."
As he spoke, he reached out to grab the bowl of porridge from his hands and tried to push his own bowl, with the bitter melon, toward him.
Upon hearing "bitter melon," Jiang Yisheng couldn’t help but smirk.
Looking at the swapped bowl in his hands, he said helplessly, "I’ve already eaten from that one."
Ji Mingqian smiled and stretched his lips, "That’s fine."
If he didn’t mind, there was no need for Jiang Yisheng to say more.
Jennifer watched the two of them, finding herself unable to join the conversation and feeling somewhat restrained.
"These flowers smell so good," Veya picked up the bouquet, stood up, and looked for a vase, "I’ll find a vase for these flowers."
"Aunt, let me help you," Jennifer volunteered, not wanting to feel awkward.
Veya smiled and nodded, agreeing kindly.
"This bitter melon isn’t very bitter. Would you like to try it?" Jiang Yisheng teased.
Ji Mingqian gave him a sidelong glance, "If bitter melon wasn’t bitter, would it still be called bitter melon?"
Jiang Yisheng nearly burst out laughing, but when he saw the look from his father, he instantly suppressed his laughter and switched to a serious face.
...
Upon arriving at the restaurant, Ye Yuan was already there waiting.
He wasn’t in the business suit they had seen before, but rather in a simple casual outfit.
In black and blue, he seemed less authoritative and cold, more gentle and approachable.
