The Lady of the Prestigious Family is a Big Boss-Chapter 67 - 0, You’ve grabbed her hand red (first update)
Catching a glimpse of her grandson’s dark complexion in the corner of her eye, Madam Jiang let out a knowing smile and affectionately took Ye Jiuliang’s hand, "It’s okay, there’s no relation now, but there will be in the future."
Not used to being so close to others, Ye Jiuliang felt a bit uncomfortable and tried inconspicuously to retract her hand.
"It’s getting late, so I should be going."
Fearing that she might hurt the elderly lady, Ye Jiuliang didn’t dare to pull too hard. Unable to free her hand, she cast a pleading look at Li Mochan.
Li Mochan’s dark eyes dimmed, and in the end, he couldn’t bear to see her in difficulty, "Grandma, you’ve made her hand red."
Madam Jiang glared at him and then released her hand, her smile warm and kind, "My dear girl, the moment I saw you, I felt a special connection. Mohan here is cold and aloof; he never chats with me. Why don’t you keep me company for a bit, and after we have a late-night snack, you can go? Mumu’s cooking skills are top-notch."
Madam Jiang looked at her with burning eagerness, and Ye Jiuliang reluctantly said, "Thank you for your kindness, but I’m really not hungry."
The smile on Madam Jiang’s face gradually faded, and she turned her head away, pretending to wipe non-existent tears from the corner of her eye.
"When people get old, they become annoying. As an old woman, it’s normal that nobody wants to chat with me anymore, ah..." Saying this, she sniffed and her expression became a bit downcast.
Ye Jiuliang didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
Why did she see a shadow of her family’s Master in the old lady?
Raising her eyebrows, she said, "How about I stay a little longer?"
No sooner had she spoken than Madam Jiang’s face brightened up with a full-beaming smile, "Of course, stay for a while longer, and if it gets too late you can just stay overnight."
Wei Bei covered his face, nearly losing it with laughter inside.
"My girl, what do you like to eat? I’ll get Mumu to make it for you," Madam Jiang’s cheeks were practically splitting with joy.
Ye Jiuliang replied, "I’m fine with anything."
"She loves spicy food," Li Mochan said quietly.
At his words, everyone looked at him.
Especially Madam Jiang, whose look was filled with deep meaning, and there was also a hint of pride in her eyes.
This kid was finally getting considerate.
"Alright, I’ll go cook right now." Mumu said cheerfully, handed the suitcase to Wei Bei, and then headed toward the kitchen.
Wei Bei, holding the suitcase, went upstairs, and suddenly, only the three of them were left in the living room.
"My girl, you haven’t told us your name yet," Madam Jiang asked warmly, as if they were already familiar. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
"Ye Jiuliang," she replied.
"Jiuliang?" Madam Jiang repeated the name, "That’s a really unique name."
Ye Jiuliang just smiled and said nothing.
Madam Jiang’s gaze was hopeful, "Then, can I call you Xiaojiu?"
"That’s fine."
A name was just a label, it didn’t matter to her.
"Xiaojiu, how old are you this year?"
It felt like a census inquiry.
"Twenty-two."
"Grandma, have some tea," Li Mochan interjected with a cool voice, gracefully resolving Ye Jiuliang’s awkwardness.
Madam Jiang took the tea cup; after so much talking, she really was a bit thirsty.
"Do Uncle and the others know you’re here?" Li Mochan took a bottle of juice, opened the cap, and passed it to Ye Jiuliang.
Madam Jiang nearly choked upon hearing this, her gaze flitting about uncertainly, "Cough cough, Ahai and Veya went on a trip."
"Your leg injury hasn’t fully healed, and the doctor said you should rest well," Li Mochan remarked indifferently.
Hearing the subtext in his words, Madam Jiang became anxious, "You ungrateful kid, if you want to send me back to the States then just say it. Don’t beat around the bush. I knew you despise me. I didn’t come to see you; I came to see Asheng. If you don’t want me to stay here, then I’ll just go to a hotel."
She wasn’t about to leave now that she had finally seen a glimpse of her future granddaughter-in-law.
"Asheng has gone to S City," Li Mochan said even-temperedly.
"Then, I’ll just stay here until he returns." She put down the teacup on the table with a heavy thud, making a muffled sound.
The atmosphere turned slightly cold.
Ye Jiuliang sat in the middle, sipping her juice.
Their family matters had nothing to do with her.
"Don’t talk to me," Madam Jiang feigned annoyance and glanced at him sideways. When her eyes moved back to Ye Jiuliang, they became friendly again.
"Xiaojiu, Li Mochan is just like that, he has a lousy temper. If he ever bullies you, just tell me, and I’ll sort him out for you." The old lady, spurred by anger, started calling Li Mochan by his name directly.
Ye Jiuliang wanted to laugh; her eyes glanced at the man with the stern expression and, almost possessed, she found herself speaking well of him, "Actually, Li Wuye’s temper isn’t that bad."
Words lined with humor reached his ears, and Li Mochan turned his head, his deep gaze settling on the girl’s pale face.
His thin lips curled into a faint smile; it seemed the snacks hadn’t been bought in vain.
The little wolf cub was finally showing some conscience!
Li Wuye?
A flicker of surprise crossed Madam Jiang’s eyes. Were they so formal with each other?
She glanced at Li Mochan, suspecting silently that perhaps Mohan was pining unrequitedly.
The daunting silence didn’t last long before Madam Jiang asked, "Xiaojiu, are you still in school?"
"Yes."
"Which school in the capital are you attending?"
Madam Jiang asked ordinary questions, and Ye Jiuliang almost automatically answered, "Beisen Academy."
At this, Madam Jiang’s eyes lit up.
She had the advantage of proximity.
The young lady was right under his nose, yet Mohan was moving so slowly – he was like a wooden bumpkin.
After a bit more idle talk, during which Madam Jiang made a trip to the restroom, Ye Jiuliang finally caught a break.
Suddenly, cool fingertips touched her hand.
Ye Jiuliang reflexively pulled her hand back, but the next second, it was held even more tightly.
Looking up at Li Mochan with slightly furrowed brows, she asked, "Li Wuye, what does this mean?"
"Let’s go." Without any further explanation, Li Mochan stood up and with a gentle tug, pulled her to her feet.
Ye Jiuliang hesitated, "Go where?"
"You want to chat with my grandma all night?" Li Mochan looked down at her, the corners of his eyes crinkling with a teasing smile.
"..."
Ye Jiuliang coughed lightly, "I don’t think it’s nice to just leave, is it?"
What if the old lady comes back and finds they both have left? Could she possibly faint from anger?
