Chapter 48: 048, Did you do something to Wuye (first update)

The two chatted about this and that, and the food delivery arrived quickly.

Although Ye Jiuliang was confined at home, she still lived comfortably, ordering takeout almost every day, which the guards at the front door had grown used to.

After signing for the delivery, they brought the items over to Jing Pavilion.

The smell of spicy fragrance was already wafting out from the packaging bag, subtle but unmistakable.

Li Mochan furrowed his brows, "What are these?"

"Hot and sour rice noodles, and some fried chicken," Ye Jiuliang took out two boxes of hot and sour rice noodles, placing one in front of him.

"I knew you’ve probably never tried it, have a taste, it’s delicious."

She had a heavy palate, fond of sweets and spicy foods. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂

Li Mochan’s mouth twitched slightly and his eyes couldn’t hide his disdain, "You mean to tell me this is what you’re inviting me for a meal?"

Ye Jiuliang curled her lips into a smile, "Don’t look so disdainful just yet, it’s really good." Saying so, she picked up her chopsticks and started eating.

She slurped a mouthful, savoring the fragrant, sour, and spicy flavors that lingered on her lips.

She narrowed her eyes in contentment.

Noticing that the person across from her hadn’t yet picked up his chopsticks, Ye Jiuliang urged, "Li Wuye, could you please try a bite?"

Meeting the girl’s crescent moon-shaped eyes, Li Mochan hesitated for a moment, but still picked up the chopsticks.

Ye Jiuliang watched him with sparkling eyes as Li Mochan picked up a mouthful of noodles. As it approached his mouth, a pungent spicy scent already rushed into his nostrils.

He frowned slightly but ate it anyway.

Barely swallowing the food in his mouth, a wave of discomfort immediately surged in his throat.

He turned away, his fists clenched to his lips.

"Cough cough cough..."

The cool corners of his eyes were slightly red, and his coughing was so severe that even his neck turned a faint pink.

Ye Jiuliang was surprised by the effect of a single bite of the hot and sour noodles, "Hey, Li Mochan, are you alright?"

Could it be he couldn’t handle spicy food?

"I’m fine."

After saying that, the coughing started again.

"Cough cough cough..."

Seeing this, Ye Jiuliang quickly got up and poured him a glass of water, "Drink some water."

Taking the glass she handed him, Li Mochan drank most of it in one go, finally calming the discomfort in his throat.

Just then, the door opened.

"Miss Jiuliang, the master is asking for you..."

Uncle Qiu stepped in, stopping mid-sentence.

His eyes filled with astonishment, "Wuye, what are you doing here?"

In his shock, he couldn’t help but notice the fading red at the corners of Li Mochan’s eyes, prompting his imagination to wander.

He blurted out, "Miss Jiuliang, did you do something to Wuye?" What he really wanted to ask was whether she had bullied the man.

"..."

That was ridiculous.

Did she really look like a bad person?

After a few moments of speechlessness, she changed the subject, "Is there something you need?"

"It’s time for lunch, the old master has asked you to join him for the meal," Aren remembered the purpose of his visit.

"Wuye, the Li family patriarch is looking for you; join us for a simple meal this noon."

The thought of dining with the two patriarchs had Ye Jiuliang instinctively ready to refuse, but she was preempted by the man’s deep voice.

"We’ll go right away."

With a hint of displeasure in her voice, she spoke up, "Li Mochan, I didn’t say I was going."

Not far away, Aren’s heart almost leapt to his throat as he heard Ye Jiuliang call out Li Mochan’s name casually.

In contrast, Li Mochan looked indifferent, as if he was already used to it.

"You still owe me a meal."

"Who says? Didn’t I already..." Ye Jiuliang started to object but then remembered the coughing fit he just had and resignedly closed his mouth.

It was obviously him who said he wasn’t picky about food, so why did it feel like it was all her fault?

Ye Jiuliang moodily ruffled her hair, "Let’s go."

The two of them walked side by side out of Jing Pavilion, leaving Aren alone in a chaotic state.

Li Mochan seemed a bit warmer today than usual.

Was it his imagination?

By the time he came to his senses, the two were already far away.

"Great wine."

"Li Lao, you must drink a few more glasses today."

Approaching the dining room, the conversation between the two elders could be heard from inside.

"Hey, do you think your dad will be so angry he can’t eat when he sees me?" She managed to make the Li Family lose all face at the birthday banquet last time, and Li Lao probably couldn’t help but have some complaints in his heart.

Li Mochan uttered two noncommittal words, "Perhaps."

"Then I better not go in." Ye Jiuliang seized the opportunity to escape as she still thought her sour and spicy noodles tasted better.

Having already noticed her little trick, Li Mochan stretched out his iron arm, pinching her collar with two fingers.

With a slight tug, he effortlessly brought her to his side.

"Go in."

"Hey, that’s not how you should treat someone." Ye Jiuliang was annoyed but wanted to laugh; grappling with her collar like that didn’t fit with his aloof image at all.

"Li Wuye, I’m a woman, you know. Grabbing my collar isn’t very gentlemanly, is it?"

Li Mochan’s dark eyes narrowed slightly, with a teasing hint, "You realize you’re a woman?"

"..."

Ye Jiuliang rolled her eyes at him and strode into the dining room.

She was magnanimous, not bothering to argue with him.

The two entered the dining room one after the other; the conversation stopped abruptly as both elders turned to look at them.

Li Mochan had surprised everyone by siding with Ye Jiuliang at the last banquet, and seeing them together again deepened Ye Lao’s curiosity.

Suppressing his confusion, Ye Lao urged, "Jiuliang, what are you standing there for? Hurry up and greet them."

Ye Jiuliang looked towards Li Lao and greeted him resolutely, "Li Lao."

Li Lao nodded his head, then shifted his gaze to his son, "Mohan, weren’t you going to make a phone call? How did you and Jiuliang end up coming together?"

"Coincidence," Li Mochan replied without batting an eyelid.

Hearing this, Ye Jiuliang tilted her head and glanced at him, a playful smile forming on her lips.

So it was a coincidence that he found his way to Jing Pavilion.

His sense of direction is pretty good, huh.

"Don’t just stand there, sit down and have dinner," Ye Lao said.

Ye Jiuliang pulled out a chair and sat down, her expression shifting slightly as she looked across and saw who was sitting opposite her.

A table full of dishes, quite lavish.

Scanning the array, Ye Jiuliang’s gaze was glued to the plate of boiled fish.

"Mohan, do these dishes not suit your taste? Should we ask the kitchen to prepare something else?" Ye Lao asked with a chuckle.

Li Mochan replied in a muted tone, "This is fine."

"Mohan, try the fine wine your Uncle Ye has been saving," Li Lao said.

A servant brought over a wine glass, filled it up, and then stepped back.
