Xia Jiahe turned to face Lin Fei and said, "Then you don’t want to lose it, right? It’s your life’s work, losing it would surely be heartbreaking."

"That’s not certain. If you meddle too much, you might lose not only it but other precious things as well," Xia Jiahe warned, staring directly at Lin Fei.

Lin Fei replied coldly, "Are you threatening me?"

"I’m not threatening you; it’s just that your involvement in our Xia Family affairs is unwelcome. You can’t interfere, nor do you have the right to," Xia Jiahe stated.

"I won’t interfere in your Xia Family matters," Lin Fei said.

"Oh? Glad to hear you’ve got it figured out. I don’t want to oppose a promising young man like yourself," Xia Jiahe smiled, surprised by Lin Fei’s sensibility.

However, Lin Fei’s next words froze Xia Jiahe’s smile.

"It’s not your Xia Family matters I’m concerned with. I’m concerned with Xue Mei’s matters. Xue Mei said she wants to be my woman. My woman’s matters are my matters, and if anyone causes her grievance, I’ll repay them tenfold!" Lin Fei declared, coldly staring at Xia Jiahe.

Xia Jiahe’s expression turned cold, "Alright, let’s see then, who’ll have the last laugh."

Lin Fei scoffed, "I’m curious, why exactly are you forcing Xia Mei, and where did you get the courage to threaten me?"

Hearing Lin Fei’s question, Xia Jiahe paused, then sneered, "That’s a question I should be asking. It’s surprising you have the courage to defy me, Lin Fei, you’re unusual, but your mind seems muddled, unable to see the situation clearly. You’re at a disadvantage, how will you contend with me?"
