The Informal Tomb Raiding Diary: She is the occupant of the tomb!-Chapter 452 - 333: City of Illusions
Gu seemed skeptical, looking at the big-headed beings, and said, "They have no breath or heartbeat."
"How do you determine that? Sea cucumbers also have no breath or heartbeat." I replied indifferently.
The bodily structure of the big-headed beings is clearly different from humans, so the criteria to judge their life or death naturally has to change. For example, I don’t have a heartbeat, yet I’m still lively!
But I couldn’t share my example with Gu, so I used other creatures as examples.
But he still shook his head and said, "Even if their body structure is peculiar, there’s no way they can survive for thousands of years."
"Why don’t we just try and see." I walked over to one of the big-headed beings and plucked a connecting wire from its arm.
No reaction...
I pulled another wire, one by one, until only the wire connected to its head was left.
"Be careful not to get shocked."
"I already pulled them all out before you said that, could you be any faker?"
"Okay, hurry and pull, pulling them out one by one will take forever."
"Stop now!" Another voice rang from outside the door, speaking in a foreign language, and then the cowboy hat appeared at the doorway, but he didn’t come inside, staying at the door shouting.
"Finally here." I muttered softly and walked towards the door.
"You fool, you don’t understand what you’re doing, stop it or you’ll doom everyone!" The cowboy hat burst out of his previously relaxed state, spitting saliva meters away, and I rapidly halted in the ’non-rain zone’.
"I don’t know, if you do, then kindly explain it, thanks." I was still clutching the pulled-out wires, and the ’electricity’ was Gu’s perception; actually, this stuff is an energy, and there are many types of energy: electromagnetic, light, electricity, etc.
The energy produced by the big-headed beings is quite different from common types of energy; it doesn’t have magnetism, isn’t hot, and doesn’t shock people.
"The entire Ancient City was created by them, out of their will, do you understand? If their will dissipates, the Ancient City will disappear, and we would disappear with it, perhaps you and your teammates would vanish together!" The cowboy hat was genuinely anxious, waving his arms wanting to charge inside, but his hand barely reached through the door when it recoiled back as if stung.
I saw a blackened patch on the back of his hand, like burnt flesh, he grimaced with unbearable pain glaring at me, yet refused to move, still roaring at the door.
His main message was for me to stop the foolish acts, and I asked if the Evil Spirit was also ’imagined’ by the big-headed beings?
The cowboy hat hesitated, then nodded, and if that’s the case, the true Evil Spirit should be these big-headed beings; they created the Ancient City and everything within it, the desert Death Zone is a massive illusion.
But Doctor Du examined the stone men and vegetative people; is their ’transgenic’ transformation also an illusion?
However, other matters can be discussed later; I allowed him to roar and waited until he finished before speaking: "If you can ensure my teammates’ safety, then I won’t pull it out. Now go bring them here, listen up, if they are dead, crippled, or marked by handprints, I’ll pull out all these lines. Furthermore, I’ll collectively cremate them."
As I spoke, I pointed at the big-headed beings seated on the stone chairs.
"At this time, they’re likely already with the Evil Spirit side." The cowboy hat said maliciously, "If you continue to damage those lines, they’ll perish alongside me."
"If not damaged, they won’t perish? Turn into puppets of Evil Spirit, trapped in this barren illusion Ancient City, isn’t that doom? Please give me a perfect explanation."
"At least we’re still alive!"
"Ah..." I glanced back at Gu, truly a rare find for a kindred spirit, their ideas were surprisingly identical.
"How do you know you’re still alive? This is an illusion world, it can create cities, Evil Spirits, naturally it can replicate people who have already died."
"No, I’m not dead."
"Look at yourself, your clothes, shoes, they’re the same as when you entered; if you were living in the wilderness for years, would these items not change?"
The cowboy hat was slightly shaken by my words, his gaze suddenly dodged away, he surely found these discrepancies long ago, just unwilling to face them.
Of course, unless the Evil Spirit can use its will to wash his clothes and regularly maintain them.
"What do you understand, this is the core power; it can keep people youthful indefinitely, and it’s the same for objects, look at this city..."
"Didn’t you say this city is an illusion?"
