The Illegitimate Flame: Bride of Ashes-Chapter 113- only you
Chapter 113: Chapter 113- only you
The two of them embraced quietly, enjoying a peaceful night’s sleep.
The next day, Charles and Janet boarded the flight back to New York. When they arrived, Shaun was still there. Seeing them together, he teased with a hint of jealousy, "I should’ve brought Angela along. Watching you two so lovey-dovey, it makes me uneasy!"
Charles chuckled, teasing back, "Go find yourself an Aussie girl here, don’t worry, brotherhood’s sacred—I won’t tell Angela!"
Shaun winked at him slyly, "Nah, not my type. How about you lend me Janet, and you go chase those Aussie girls?"
Charles narrowed his eyes dangerously, shooting Shaun a cold glare like a biting winter wind. Shaun immediately raised his hands in protest, "Man, you’re heartless! If I hadn’t told Janet, could you even have her now?"
"True. To thank you for bringing my wife here, I booked your flight home. Time’s up, buddy—you better head to the airport!" Charles smirked, already setting Shaun up to leave.
Shaun waved off the teasing, "Fine, no more envy here. I’m off to reunite with my wife!"
Charles grinned, "Hey, take it easy with Janet, alright? Look at her delicate skin—show some restraint!"
Shaun smirked, "Yeah, and if Janet can’t satisfy you, remember to pick up some Aussie girls. They’re something else..."
Before he could finish, Charles’s icy glare sent him straight outside the hotel. Australians were known for their openness; public displays of affection were everywhere. Shaun’s good-natured reminder was met only with Charles’s disdainful shake of the head. Without even grabbing his luggage, Charles headed straight for the airport.
After Shaun left, Janet looked at Charles with a mixture of disbelief and curiosity. Charles couldn’t help but be amused by her serious expression. He gently tapped her nose with a long finger, his eyes full of tender affection.
"What’s wrong? Why are you looking at me like that?"
Janet hesitated, her mind replaying the conversation she just overheard between Charles and Shaun. She couldn’t help but feel a little insecure—everyone said men loved fiery, passionate women. Compared to the fiery blonde bombshells, she felt so plain.
"Like... what?" Charles smiled softly, watching her nervously swallow. A faint blush colored her pale cheeks.
Back when they were in Paris, many foreign women had openly flirted with him. Maybe, in their eyes, a tall, handsome Oriental man was especially attractive.
"Like... Aussie girls?" Janet finally blurted out, embarrassed.
Charles laughed and pinched her cheek affectionately, explaining earnestly, "No, I only like pure little lambs." freewebnøvel.coɱ
He cast a warm, teasing glance at her slender, curvy figure, his eyes burning with desire.
"Huh?" Janet opened her mouth in surprise, staring at his handsome eyes, but before she could say more, his cold lips covered hers. Flames danced in Charles’s dark eyes as one hand caressed her back tenderly, a playful smile lighting up his face. His gaze spoke volumes: That little lamb is you.
As their kiss deepened, Janet’s eyes half-closed, her clothes slipping slightly, her flushed cheeks even more irresistible. Charles grew a little reckless, pressing closer—just as the doorbell rang sharply, interrupting their burning passion.
Janet blushed furiously, hurriedly pushing him away and fixing her clothes. She glanced out the window; it was still midday. The memory of their lost control made her cheeks burn even hotter.
Charles muttered angrily under his breath. This room was booked by Shaun, so no one else should be here at this hour—what were they even doing?
"Who’s there?" Charles snapped as he flung the door open. His eyes immediately locked on the scantily clad blonde standing right in front of him. His brow furrowed deeper. Damn it, what the hell was going on?
The woman’s eyes lit up when she saw the strikingly handsome man. Wearing only a few pieces of cloth that barely covered her, she confidently pushed up her ample chest and swayed her body seductively. In perfect English, she asked, "A gentleman just ordered special services. Was that you?"
Charles’s face instantly darkened, and he practically yelled, "Get lost!" before slamming the door shut. Damn Shaun! He actually called in an Aussie girl for him?
Turning around, Charles saw Janet already dressed, leaning against the wall. She’d clearly seen everything.
"Babe, it was Shaun who called her, not me!" Charles hurriedly tried to explain, but he noticed the coldness growing in Janet’s eyes.
"Hmph! Your buddy sure knows how to ’take care’ of you. You should just enjoy it!" Janet shot him a sharp glare. She knew she shouldn’t be jealous, but women couldn’t help it. She hated the idea of any other woman being in his eyes—even just a thought.
"I only want to enjoy my wife, no other woman matters to me!" Charles said firmly as he stepped closer. He reached out to pull her into his arms, but Janet dodged away. She hadn’t forgotten the other woman he had in his room at the Eisen Hotel.
"Oh really? What about Ms. Ivanka? I seem to remember you had a thing for her," Janet teased, her tone dripping with jealousy. Charles found her adorable like this—her big eyes avoiding his gaze, her pouty lips. It made him want to kiss her right then and there. But he hated the idea of her misunderstanding.
"My interest in her was strictly professional. Babe, are you jealous?" Charles smirked, his voice teasing yet gentle.
Seeing his wife jealous was just too cute—those big eyes shyly looking away, the slight blush coloring her cheeks. He wanted to spoil her, but he couldn’t—damn Shaun! Once he got back, he was going to dig up all Shaun’s past escapades and let Angela give him a good lesson!
"That’s not true! Don’t say stuff like that!" Janet blushed deeply and looked down, clearly embarrassed.
Charles caught her wrist softly, pressing it against his warm, pounding chest. His voice dropped to a low, husky whisper right next to her ear.
"Listen carefully. It’s only when I’m with you that my heart beats this fast."
Janet’s breath hitched, her fingers trembling slightly. She dared not look up, afraid he’d see just how much she cared.
