The Husband I Loved for Eight Years Never Loved Me-Chapter 50: Her Name is Melissa Sterling
Chapter 50: Her Name is Melissa
Rachel Royce saw the man come in.
Tristan Sterling walked over, carrying the baby, and carefully placed her beside Rachel Royce.
Rachel Royce turned her head to look at the baby, a fond, gentle smile gracing her lips. Seeing her mother, the baby giggled again.
Rachel Royce desperately wanted to hold her baby, but she couldn’t move at all.
Florence Preston smiled at the baby. She wanted to hold her too, but ultimately restrained herself.
Lying beside her mother, Rachel Royce, the baby soon closed her eyes and fell asleep again.
Rachel Royce looked weakly at the man and asked, "What’s her name?"
Tristan Sterling said, "Melissa Sterling."
Rachel Royce murmured, "Melissa."
’What a beautiful name.’
She had Florence Preston take a picture of her and the baby, just as they were.
Tristan Sterling picked up the baby again and said to Rachel Royce, "Get some rest."
With that, he left, carrying the baby.
「Three days passed in a flash.」
Rachel Royce’s condition gradually improved, and she could now get out of bed and walk around. She couldn’t be discharged yet, though; she still needed to stay in the hospital for a few more days of observation.
The baby had already been taken back to the Sterling residence.
When Julian Jennings and Joanna Sutton came to the hospital to visit, the baby wasn’t there, so Rachel Royce showed them a photo.
"Just focus on recovering and take care of yourself," Julian Jennings said. Anything more would have been meaningless.
Rachel Royce nodded. "I know."
During her hospital stay, Joanna Sutton came to visit and chat with Rachel Royce every day. Thomas Sterling also stopped by from time to time. He told her the baby was now at the Silvermist Bay Villa with professional caregivers and that the Sterling family had been visiting to see her.
A joyous atmosphere now filled the Sterling household.
She hadn’t been in contact with Tristan Sterling these past few days, so she didn’t know how the baby was doing.
Hearing that the baby was doing well, Rachel Royce felt relieved.
Whatever Thomas Sterling was feeling, he didn’t show it in front of Rachel Royce. He used to think his family’s public conduct, from top to bottom, exuded an overbearing superiority, but it never bothered him. After all, he was a Sterling.
But now, seeing it from Rachel Royce’s perspective, he truly felt the sting of that arrogant indifference. The Sterling Family treated anyone who offered them no benefit with this same attitude—even their own daughter-in-law.
He could see Rachel Royce’s pain and her longing for her child.
But they both tacitly avoided the sensitive subject.
「Two more days passed.」
After the doctor assessed Rachel Royce’s condition, she was cleared for discharge.
Florence Preston bundled her up in layer upon layer of clothing, leaving only her eyes and nose exposed. She even draped a plastic covering over her. "You can’t feel the slightest draft right now," she warned. "Or it’ll cause health problems for you down the line."
Rachel Royce resignedly let Florence Preston bundle her up.
Sitting in the wheelchair, she looked like a human dumpling. Wendy Royce pushed her out of the room.
Florence Preston and Peter Preston followed alongside, carrying her things.
They left the hospital.
Peter Preston quickly pulled the car around.
Just then, a Bentley pulled up in front of them.
The driver got out.
Rachel Royce looked at the driver, recognizing him as Tristan Sterling’s.
The driver looked at Rachel Royce and said, "Mrs. Sterling, I’m here to take you home."
Neither Wendy Royce nor Florence Preston looked pleased to see the driver. ’After all this time, all they send is a driver to pick her up.’
Before Rachel Royce could say anything, Florence Preston interjected, "That won’t be necessary. We’ll take our own daughter home and look after her."
The man was just a driver doing his job, so Florence Preston’s tone wasn’t overly harsh.
The driver looked conflicted.
Rachel Royce looked at him and said, "You can go back."
