The Husband I Loved for Eight Years Never Loved Me-Chapter 183: Do You Like It?
Chapter 183: Do You Like It?
Nina Fitzwilliam’s tenth birthday party was held at the Fitzwilliam family’s private estate.
As the apple of the Fitzwilliam family’s eye,
Franklin Fitzwilliam and William Jensen gave her the very best of everything: a birthday cake worth millions, sculpted into the shape of a castle, and decorations of expensive flowers air-freighted from overseas...
When Nina, dressed in a custom-made princess gown, slowly entered through the European-style double doors, the couple’s eyes were filled with unconcealable, doting affection.
Nina danced all the way to the stage, looking beautiful, radiant, and full of confidence.
People in the audience took out their phones, all recording videos.
Melissa leaned against Tristan Sterling, saying excitedly, "Nina is so pretty."
Tristan Sterling held her in his arms.
After the performance ended,
Nina gave a deep bow to the guests below the stage.
Franklin Fitzwilliam and William Jensen went up, took their daughter’s hand, and sang a duet for her. As they looked at each other and smiled, it was clear they only had eyes for one another.
The atmosphere of blissful happiness was infectious, spreading to everyone present.
In the audience, Melissa, who was leaning against her father, suddenly grew listless.
Tristan Sterling looked at her and asked, "Melissa, what’s wrong?"
Melissa looked up at her dad and said unhappily, "Why isn’t Aunt Evelynn here yet?"
Tristan coaxed her, "She should be here soon."
Melissa suddenly lowered her head and fell silent again, looking as if she had something heavy on her mind.
"What’s making you unhappy, Melissa? Tell Daddy what you want." Tristan held her small hand, his voice gentle as he comforted his daughter.
Melissa mumbled, "I want Mommy and Daddy to celebrate my birthday with me too."
Tristan comforted her, "You will, next time you have a birthday."
Melissa’s big eyes immediately lit up. "Really? Then I want Aunt Evelynn and Daddy to celebrate my birthday with me, and I want you to sing for me."
Tristan stroked her little head and hummed in agreement.
Only then did Melissa’s mood brighten up again.
It wasn’t until after the luncheon had ended that Rachel Royce finally arrived at the estate.
"Aunt Evelynn!"
Melissa excitedly threw herself into Rachel’s arms.
"Aunt Evelynn, I missed you so much."
Rachel picked Melissa up. "I missed you too." As she spoke, she gave her a kiss on the cheek.
William Jensen walked over with Nina. "Evelynn, you’re here."
Even though he knew she was Rachel Royce, since she hadn’t acknowledged her relationship with Melissa or returned to the Sterling Family, it was still more appropriate to call her by this name.
Rachel put Melissa down and handed the gift bag she was carrying to Nina, saying, "Happy birthday, Nina. You look so beautiful today."
Nina took it and said, "Thank you, Aunt Evelynn."
Rachel and William Jensen strolled through the garden, chatting idly as they watched the children play.
Tristan Sterling and Franklin Fitzwilliam came over, accompanied by Simon Shaw and two other men, all friends from the same social circle and of a similar age.
Franklin Fitzwilliam stepped forward and wrapped an arm around William Jensen’s waist, asking affectionately, "Honey, what are you talking about that’s making you so happy?"
William shot him a look. "We have company. What will people think, with all this hugging?" As he spoke, he pushed Franklin’s hand away.
Simon Shaw, who was with them, was startled the moment he saw Rachel.
Someone joked, "Franklin and William are the very model of a deeply devoted couple! Haha!"
Franklin laughed. "If I’m not good to him, who else would give me children? I’d probably have to spend my days kneeling on a keyboard."
"That’s enough out of you," William muttered, shooting him a glare.
"And who is this young lady? I don’t believe we’ve met before."
Rachel’s outstanding aura and appearance had caught their attention early on.
William subconsciously glanced at Tristan Sterling. The man’s sharply defined face was inscrutable, revealing no emotion.
He introduced her, "This is Evelynn, a friend of mine."
One of the men, dressed in a white suit with a wolf-cut hairstyle, realized who she was. "So you’re the rumored Miss Evelynn. Seeing you today, you truly are extraordinarily remarkable!"
The name Evelynn was now known by everyone in the financial world. More importantly, her beauty and elegance were said to be so celestial that even the young lady of the Ainsworth Family from Portington paled in comparison.
This, of course, made many people even more curious about what this Evelynn actually looked like.
Rachel smiled politely. "You’re too kind, sir."
The man stepped forward and introduced himself. "My name is Jason Sinclair. It’s a pleasure to meet you today, Miss Evelynn."
The Sinclair Family was another one of Kingsland’s top-tier wealthy families.
Rachel said, "Mr. Sinclair."
Jason Sinclair asked, his tone halfway between joking and serious, "I was wondering, does Miss Evelynn have a boyfriend?"
Franklin Fitzwilliam said, "Jason, that’s a bit too direct. Don’t go scaring her off."
Jason Sinclair laughed. "There’s no harm in asking. If you’re offended, Miss Evelynn, I apologize."
Rachel said, "It’s fine. I don’t have a boyfriend."
The smile on Jason Sinclair’s face deepened. "In that case, Miss Evelynn, could we exchange contact information?"
"Of course."
As Franklin Fitzwilliam watched the two exchange contact information, he glanced over at Tristan Sterling. From beginning to end, Tristan had just been standing off to the side, watching quietly with deep, somber eyes, and Franklin had no idea what was going through his mind.
He sighed helplessly to himself.
Rachel and Jason Sinclair exchanged contact information.
"Aunt Evelynn."
Melissa came running over, holding a freshly picked flower and sweating from all the playing.

"Aunt Evelynn, look."
Melissa held the flower out to Rachel. Rachel bent down to smell it, and a light breeze playfully lifted the strands of hair by her ear. Her smile, gentle to its very core, seemed more radiant than the flower itself.
"It’s beautiful."
Watching from up close, Jason Sinclair found himself momentarily lost in a daze.
"Daddy."
Jason Sinclair snapped out of it and saw Tristan Sterling walking over. Melissa handed the flower to her dad and said, "Daddy, you give it to Aunt Evelynn."
Rachel spoke up, "Melissa, you can just give it to me directly."
Melissa insisted, "No, I want Daddy to give it to you."
Facing his daughter, Tristan Sterling took the flower from Melissa’s hand. He lifted his gaze to meet Rachel’s, and as their eyes met, the warmth in Rachel’s expression faded slightly.
She had expected Tristan to brush the matter aside, but to her surprise, he took the flower from Melissa and held it out to her.
Rachel stared at the flower the man was holding out to her, momentarily stunned.
If one were to ignore the hint of coldness in the man’s eyes, from a distance the two of them truly looked like a couple.
Rachel kept her hands at her sides, not moving.
Melissa then started coaching her father, "Daddy, you have to ask Aunt Evelynn if she likes it first!"
Tristan Sterling looked at the woman and asked, "Do you like it?"
Melissa’s big, sparkling eyes were full of anticipation as she waited for Rachel’s answer.
Rachel looked at Melissa, then reached out and took the flower from the man’s hand. Without looking at him, she held the flower out to Melissa and said, "Why don’t you hold this for Auntie, Melissa!"
Melissa said, "Oh," then added, "Aunt Evelynn, you haven’t answered Daddy yet."
"I like it."
But she said it to Melissa.
Melissa smiled happily.
Jason Sinclair watched from the side and turned to look at Tristan Sterling. If he didn’t know about Tristan and Claire Ainsworth, he would have really thought Tristan had feelings for Evelynn, too.
He put a hand on Tristan Sterling’s shoulder and teased, "Tristan, who on earth is the mother of this adorable daughter of yours?"
