Chapter 155: Who Exactly Is Spreading Rumors Behind People’s Backs?

The wealthy woman sat on a stool, her cold eyes fixed on Rachel Royce.

The teacher quickly tried to mediate. "Miss Evelynn, Madam Garrison, why don’t we let the children go back to their classroom first? We can have a proper discussion then. Let’s not let this affect the children."

Rachel Royce coaxed Melissa.

Once Melissa calmed down, the teacher took her back to the classroom.

Danielle Alden had a bodyguard come over and take Tiffany Garrison back to the car.

Rachel Royce spoke with the homeroom teacher, Teacher Chandler, outside the office to get the full story.

It turned out that after she attended the parent-teacher conference for Melissa today, the other children had all praised how beautiful Melissa’s mother was.

Melissa was very happy and proud and didn’t deny it.

Tiffany Garrison had suddenly piped up, "That pretty auntie isn’t Megan Sterling’s mom. Megan Sterling doesn’t have a mom at all. Her mom abandoned her."

These words infuriated Melissa. She marched right up and hit her, and Stella jumped in to help Melissa hit Tiffany Garrison.

Hearing what the teacher said,

a wave of bitterness washed over Rachel Royce.

Rachel Royce returned to the office. Danielle Alden sat with her legs crossed, the very picture of arrogance. She raised an eyebrow at her, her eyes full of scorn. "So this is the famous Miss Evelynn. Not only do you like to seduce men, but you also enjoy playing mommy to other people’s kids. No, wait, more like a nanny, right?"

As soon as she said this,

the teachers in the office couldn’t help but be surprised. They had indeed never seen this Miss Evelynn before, but now she was the one who occasionally picked up and dropped off Melissa Sterling.

They no longer saw that Miss Ainsworth.

’Could it be that this Miss Evelynn has really taken her place?’

’The gossip from these wealthy families is always something new every day.’

They only dared to watch silently, enjoying the drama from the sidelines.

Rachel Royce walked towards Danielle Alden, casually picked up a cup of water from a desk, and threw it directly in her face.

"AHH!"

Danielle Alden shrieked, jumping to her feet. She roared at Rachel Royce, "Are you crazy?! How dare you throw water on me?"

Teacher Chandler quickly handed her some tissues.

Rachel Royce said coldly, "Your mouth is so foul, you must have forgotten to brush your teeth this morning. No wonder your child has no manners. It turns out her mother was never taught any either."

"You..."

Danielle Alden furiously flung the tissues at Rachel Royce’s face and lunged forward to slap her in return.

However, before the slap could land,

Rachel Royce raised a hand, grabbed the woman’s wrist tightly, and slapped her back.

Wearing high heels, Danielle Alden was unsteady on her feet and staggered to the side.

A teacher hurried forward to steady her.

Danielle Alden clutched her stinging cheek, her eyes looking like she wanted to eat Rachel Royce alive. "You actually dared to hit me."

Danielle Alden suddenly went berserk, turning to grab a pile of textbooks from a desk and hurling them all at Rachel Royce, who raised an arm to block them.

"Madam Garrison."

Teacher Chandler tried to stop her.

Danielle Alden swung her hand and slapped her, as if venting her anger. "Get out of my way!"

This scene stunned the teachers in the office, who were now too scared to move.

"Madam Garrison."

An urgent voice came from the doorway.

The principal strode in, moved to block Danielle Alden, and took the books from her hands. "Madam Garrison, please calm down first. We can talk this out properly."

「At the same time.」

Tristan Sterling also entered from outside the office, with Claire Ainsworth by his side.

"Danielle!"

Claire Ainsworth quickly walked over to Danielle Alden. Seeing the red handprint on one side of her face and the water stains on her hair and clothes, she asked, "What’s going on?"

Rachel Royce watched the two of them quietly.

’I knew it. I’ve never met this Madam Garrison before, nor do our paths cross. So she knows Claire Ainsworth.’

’I can pretty much guess why that child would say such a thing. It must have been Claire Ainsworth spreading rumors behind my back, and the child overheard it.’

Sensing the man’s gaze on her, Rachel Royce lifted her eyes and glanced at him.

"Evelynn, don’t go too far! Do you think you can just hit anyone you want?" Claire Ainsworth said angrily.

Rachel Royce let out a cold laugh. "So what if I hit her? What I want to know right now is why this lady’s child would say something like ’someone else doesn’t have a mother.’ Who exactly is spreading rumors behind people’s backs?"

Hearing this, Claire Ainsworth’s expression changed. "What nonsense are you talking about?"

Seeing the flicker of panic in her eyes, Rachel Royce was certain her guess was correct. She scoffed, "Fine. Then why don’t we bring Madam Garrison’s child over and ask her face-to-face who she heard it from?"

Claire Ainsworth glared at Rachel Royce, then guiltily glanced at the man beside her.

Tristan Sterling hadn’t said a word from beginning to end, but now his expression had clearly turned cold.

Her heart tightened. She said, "Tristan, there must be some misunderstanding between Melissa and Tiffany. Tiffany definitely didn’t mean to say something like that."

The principal subconsciously glanced at Tristan Sterling, momentarily unable to figure out the relationship between this young lady, Melissa Sterling, and Tristan Sterling.

’Judging by her words?’

’Could she be Melissa Sterling’s mother?’

At this thought,

the principal was stunned.

’Looking closely, Melissa Sterling does bear some resemblance to her.’

The school couldn’t afford to offend anyone standing here.

She quickly tried to ease the tension. "President Sterling, Madam Garrison, the school is at fault for not handling this matter immediately and for failing to provide proper guidance to the children. This is our responsibility. The school will conduct a thorough review and give both parents a satisfactory explanation."

The principal’s bureaucratic words took all the blame onto the school.

As the homeroom teacher, even though she had just been slapped, Teacher Chandler immediately apologized after hearing the principal’s speech.

Although Danielle Alden was furious, the principal had spoken and Tristan Sterling was still present, so she could only swallow her anger.

She shot Rachel Royce a dark, cold glare. ’She dared to hit me. I’ll definitely make her pay for this.’

After leaving the office,

Tristan Sterling went to the classroom, and the principal and Teacher Chandler followed.

Claire Ainsworth left with Danielle Alden.

Rachel Royce stood where she was, watching the direction Tristan Sterling had gone, but ultimately decided not to follow.

「Just then.」

Her phone started vibrating.

She picked it up and saw it was a call from June Jennings.

"Rachel, Teacher Chandler just called me. I was playing tennis and missed it. I got a text from her saying Stella hit someone. I just asked the teacher, and she said Stella helped Melissa hit someone." As she spoke, June Jennings’s tone was cheerful.

Rachel Royce said, "I’m at the school now. Stella and Melissa are both fine, don’t worry."

"So what exactly happened?"

"I’ll tell you later."

"Alright then."

After hanging up the phone,

Rachel Royce prepared to leave.

Just as she was leaving the school,

she received another call, this time from Tristan Sterling.

"Where are you?" His tone was cold.

"At the school gate."

Tristan Sterling soon arrived at the school gate, carrying Melissa.

"Aunt Evelynn!"

Melissa’s eyes were still red, and she wanted Rachel Royce to hold her.

Rachel Royce took a step forward and reached out, taking Melissa into her arms.

"There, there. It’s okay now."

Melissa obediently rested her head on Rachel Royce’s shoulder.

Rachel Royce looked up at Tristan Sterling.

"You take Melissa for the night."

Rachel Royce said nothing. Cradling Melissa, she turned and walked away toward her car.
