Chapter 125: First, Team Up and Get Rid of Her Husband

Rachel Royce spent a little while with her father in the hospital room.

She didn’t stay for too long.

Florence Preston told Rachel to go back and take care of Bobby.

"Okay."

Rachel Royce and Thomas Sterling left the hospital room. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮

She still hadn’t had lunch.

Thomas Sterling took her to get some lunch first.

"Let’s go out to dinner with Peter tonight."

Rachel Royce said, "I’m afraid I can’t tonight."

Thomas Sterling asked, "Do you have other plans?"

Rachel replied honestly, "I still owe David a meal, so I have to treat him tonight."

Thomas Sterling was surprised. "He’s in Kingsland?"

During the five years Rachel spent in the United States, Thomas Sterling often went to see her, and on one of those occasions, he happened to run into David pursuing Rachel.

The moment he saw David, he felt a profound sense of crisis. Honestly, David’s looks and charisma were absolutely top-tier for a Western man.

At the time, he canceled all his work back home and stayed there to watch over Rachel, terrified that some foreigner would snatch her away.

To discourage him, Thomas Sterling told David that he was her boyfriend.

But David knew at the time that Rachel was married. He told Thomas they were kindred spirits and should first team up to "get rid of" Evelynn’s husband.

Only then did Thomas Sterling realize that Rachel truly had no interest in David, and he was finally able to relax.

So, the two of them were acquainted.

Rachel Royce hummed in agreement.

"So when is he going back?" Thomas Sterling asked.

Rachel looked at him and said with a smile, "I don’t know. I’ll ask him today."

"Alright then!"

’Even though he knew Rachel wasn’t interested in David, it still bothered him that there was one more man eyeing her like a tiger watching its prey.’

’He’d better hurry back home.’

After lunch, Thomas Sterling drove Rachel home.

Peter Preston was at the company and a nanny was looking after Bobby at home, so she had come back to take care of Bobby herself.

After saying goodbye to Thomas Sterling, she entered the villa.

As soon as she stepped inside, she heard Bobby crying.

The nanny was holding the baby, trying to soothe him.

Rachel Royce hurried over.

"Why is he crying?"

She took the child from the nanny’s arms.

The nanny said, "He probably hasn’t seen his mother today. He drank his milk but has been refusing to sleep."

Florence Preston personally cared for Bobby most of the time, so the little boy was very attached to his mother.

Rachel held Bobby and comforted him. He quickly stopped crying and started smiling at her. Seeing his smile, she couldn’t help but think of Melissa.

Once she had soothed Bobby to sleep, Rachel carried him back to the room, carefully placed him on the bed, and covered him with a blanket.

Rachel asked the nanny to keep an eye on him, then returned to her own room.

First, she pulled up her work schedule for the following week.

Then she called Julian Jennings.

The call connected quickly.

"Rachel."

Rachel said, "Professor, I’d like to meet that lawyer you know. When is he available?"

Julian Jennings replied, "I can contact him for you anytime. Are you sure about this?"

Rachel affirmed, "I’m sure."

’There’s really nothing left to discuss with Tristan Sterling. He doesn’t actually want to talk; he just wants to humiliate me.’

Julian Jennings said, "Alright. Figure out when you’re free, and I’ll ask him for you right now."

"Okay, I’m free on Wednesday. We can meet at Lawyer Walsh’s office then. Lawyer Walsh is more familiar with the details, so we can have a more thorough discussion there."

"Alright."

Julian Jennings replied quickly. The meeting could be set for Wednesday; the lawyer was free all afternoon.

"I’ll give you his number. You two can contact each other directly from now on."

"Okay."

Julian Jennings added, "He was involved in June’s divorce case back then. Your situations seem somewhat similar."

Back then, Ivan Alden still had feelings for June. Before she discovered his affair, he had been a model husband and father who absolutely doted on June and their child, so he adamantly refused to divorce.

Julian Jennings had hired a top-tier legal team at great expense, but even so, the divorce proceedings dragged on for nearly two years before June successfully finalized it. She not only won custody of their daughter but also received a two billion US Dollar settlement.

That’s why June now truly has the capital to live as freely as she pleases.

"Yes. I just hope everything goes smoothly."

Around five in the afternoon, Peter Preston came home.

Rachel, who had changed and was ready to leave, only chatted with him briefly. "You take care of Bobby, okay? Mom will be back soon."

Florence Preston had hired a caregiver to watch over the patient at the hospital for the evening.

Peter Preston said, "Okay. Drive safely."

"I will."

Rachel drove off, heading straight for Orchid Gardens.

She had just parked and unbuckled her seatbelt when the car door was pulled open from the outside.

Rachel looked up and saw David standing by the door, his pair of turquoise eyes smiling at her.

He was wearing a short-sleeved, golden-yellow patterned shirt made of a visibly high-end custom fabric, paired with white suit trousers. With his golden hair, turquoise eyes, and deep-set features, he was flamboyantly handsome.

On anyone else, the outfit would have looked tacky, but on him, it exuded an unparalleled air of nobility.

David had arrived ten minutes early and had been waiting in the parking lot.

"Please step out, my beautiful lady."

David extended his hand like a gentleman.

Rachel didn’t take his hand, instead using the doorframe to steady herself as she got out.

David just smiled, not at all embarrassed, and withdrew his hand.

Rachel closed the car door.

"When did you get here?"

David replied, "Just now." His gaze swept over Rachel, and he smiled. "Evelynn, did you dress up so beautifully just for our dinner?"

Rachel was wearing a pale yellow qipao embroidered with osmanthus flowers, which perfectly accentuated the curves of her figure. Her hair was styled in a Chinese bun to the right, her makeup was light and elegant, and a pair of pearl earrings added a finishing touch, making her look even more gentle and serene.

She had the quintessential aura of a classic Chinese beauty.

The qipao she was wearing was a gift from June Jennings.

Rachel looked at him and smiled. "If that’s what you want to think, I won’t stop you. Come on, let’s go inside."

David caught up, walking beside Rachel, the unconcealable admiration and gentleness shining in his turquoise eyes. "The more I look, the more our clothes match. Evelynn, don’t you think this is a case of two minds thinking as one?"

Rachel didn’t say anything, deciding to just let him think what he wanted.

The two entered the building, where a staff member greeted them. Rachel had already booked a private room.

"This way, please."

The staff member led them away.

「Meanwhile.」

Two tall, imposing figures entered, each with handsome, deep-set features, exuding an air of elegant, mature nobility.

Countless eyes followed them as they moved through the room.

Tristan Sterling’s cold, dark gaze fell upon the pale yellow figure as it disappeared from view.

Suzanne Sullivan saw them too, but his eyes were drawn to David. "That’s David."

Suzanne Sullivan knew David had come to Kingsland; David had contacted him just yesterday.

Tristan Sterling didn’t respond, coolly retracting his gaze.

The manager saw the two of them and hurried over, respectfully greeting them, "President Sterling, President Sullivan, this way, please."
