Chapter 370

"Lida-oneechan, we're here at Kohane!" Serena said, waving with both hands as the wind pushed against his cheeks.

"As expected of you, Serena—amazing as always," Lida said, pointing forward with a grin. "Then, could you drop us off over there?"

"Got it," Serena said, nodding once.

He gently landed on the small hill, and as soon as his feet touched the ground, his figure returned to that of a normal boy.

"Alright, Serena! Let's go to the Royal Kohane Four Seasons Hawaiian Platinum Hotel!" Lida said, eyes shining with excitement.

"Let's go!" Serena said with a laugh.

The two of them began walking down the gentle slope together.

I couldn't help but notice—Serena-kun always seems more full of life whenever he's with Lida.

"..."

"What's wrong, Mel? You're kinda quiet," Serena asked, tilting his head.

"Mel, is something bothering you?" Lida asked, glancing back at me.

"It's nothing," I answered, shaking my head slightly.

But even as I said that, old memories came rushing in.

Back then, Zect and Maria always played together, smiling and laughing. And Lida would suddenly jump in, never waiting for an invitation. She also played a lot with Ceres.

And me?

I only stood there and watched them from the side... my hands clenching my skirt, eyes fixed on them with envy.

It was Ceres who noticed me first.

He reached out his hand and pulled me into their group. It was because of him I didn't stay alone forever.

Even when Zect didn't care about me, Ceres was there. He stayed close, always kind.

In the end, I got to marry Zect. I had a happy life. And all of it started with Ceres's kindness.

I never thought I'd remember something like that... not after hundreds of years.

"So, where should we go first?" Lida asked, stretching his arms behind his head.

"Hmm... I'm not sure," Serena said, tilting her head playfully. "I'll let you pick."

"Then, what sounds better—eating something really good or jumping in the pool?" Lida asked with a wink. "The buffet here is super fancy, and the pool's this huge, flowing one made to look like another world's Hawaii. Which do you want first?"

"You really know a lot," Serena said, blinking.

"Yeah, how do you know all this stuff?" I asked.

"Ahaha! When it comes to having fun, I'm kinda a pro, you know?" Lida said, puffing out her chest. "Anyway, no need to think too hard. Let's just enjoy everything! But seriously, which one first?"

"I'm hungry," Serena said, rubbing his stomach.

"Alright, food it is!" Lida said with a grin.

"Then that settles it," I said, following behind.

And so, we headed for the Royal Kohane Four Seasons Hawaiian Platinum Hotel—but...

"Lida, what's this?" I asked, holding up the strange outfit.

"It's the local special—mini skirt muumuu!" Lida said proudly, her hands on her hips.

It was so frilly, the chest area was open, and it was short... so short, I had to keep my hands at my sides to make sure nothing showed.

"Do we really have to wear this?" I asked, lowering my voice.

"Well, you know the saying—when in Rome, do what the Romans do," Lida said with a shrug. "Ceres used to say that a lot. Don't you remember? Long ago, we wore yukatas and kimonos at other inns too."

"Right... I forgot," I muttered. "Kohane's got some really strange customs."

"But both of you look adorable in those," Serena said, his smile warm and gentle.

"Of course! I may be an old lady inside, but I still look fifteen on the outside," Lida said, flipping her hair.

"That's... true," I admitted quietly.

"Shall we go then, Lida-oneechan, Mel?" Serena said, reaching out his hand.

"Uh-huh," we both replied together.

He's sneaky... The way he slips into people's hearts is just like Ceres.

I get it now. When Serena-kun is with Lida... he looks just like Lida did back then, whenever she was with Ceres.

I'm jealous.

* * *

"Gwah... I can't eat another bite..." Lida groaned, slumping back in her chair.

"That's my win," Serena said proudly, setting down her fork.

"You're both idiots... You look ridiculous!" I said, crossing my arms.

He's a dragon. Of course a normal person can't win a buffet match against him.

Still, even if it's all-you-can-eat, this mountain of plates is way too much.

"Come on, Mel. Don't be so angry," Lida said, resting her head on her palm.

"Yeah yeah, I think the same," Serena added with a tired smile.

"...You're right," I said at last.

This is a rare trip. No point getting upset now.

* * *

"The pool's here!" Serena shouted, running forward.

"So this is the pool..." Lida said, eyes wide with wonder. "Looks like fun, right Mel?"

It really did look fun. But still...

"Lida, you really don't care about this outfit?" I asked, holding my arms close.

Wearing a bikini at my age... it's just too embarrassing.

"Hmm, it doesn't bother me," Lida said simply.

Well, that's just like her.

"Mel, nothing good comes from being shy. Let's go swim," Serena said, looking back with a smile.

"You're right... let's go," I said with a sigh.

No use hesitating. I stepped forward to play with the two of them.

We had shaved ice, roasted corn, ran around, and when our bodies got too cold, we slipped into the jacuzzi.

We played as much as we wanted.

It was... honestly fun.

Acting like the only grown-up isn't much fun at all.

Lida, Ceres, Serena-kun... the reason they always had so much fun was because they let themselves enjoy everything, fully and completely.

Something that simple—why did it take me so long to realize it?
