The Hero of Hypnosis-Chapter 85: Labyrinth
After checking every place in the Stronghold, everyone prepared to leave and go back to Ashenfall.
As they were leaving a room, Amaya rubbed her hands along some books that sat on a bookshelf. That action made Kai stop and think about the stories back on Earth.
"Wait, wait! We’re not done here!" He announced to his companions.
"Uhh, we checked every room in this place. How are we not done?" Gwen asked
"Two words. Secret door."
"And what are we supposed to do with this information?" Amaya asked
"Are you kidding? Have guys never watched a movie in their lives before?"
"A movie?"
"What’s a moving vee?"
’Ahh. That’s right. Movies don’t exist here. They don’t have modern technology.’
"Okay, let me backtrack. Have you guys ever read a book where a room had secret passageways or some sort of hidden room?" Kai asked
"Duh."
"All the time."
"So let’s look for one here." He said.
"How will we go about that?" Amaya asked
"Simple." Kai blasted the bookshelf. "Like that. Usually, their either located in a wall hidden behind a bookshelf, or hidden underneath a floor door. Let’s start smashing!"
For the next thirty minutes, the three of them went around to every room, trying their hardest to locate the hidden room. Well, more like they just started blowing shit up, but that works too.
Finally, after blowing up an ugly portrait of Carlos, they found their hidden passageway.
"Yes! Thank you, medieval fantasy world! You haven’t failed me yet!" Kai said in excitement.
"What’s going on here?" The A-Ranks asked. "Should we be moving out soon?"
Kai nodded his head, telling them to check out what he found.
"What’s this?"
"Hidden path," Kai explained. "We might find something interesting here. Wanna check it out?"
The A-Rank nodded. He, Kai, Gwen, Amaya, and three other A-Ranks entered the hidden path while the rest stayed behind.
They walked down a large flight of stairs that led deep underground.
"What do you think we’ll find down here?" The A-Rank asked
"Well, according to my knowledge, we can find one of two things: a great opportunity, or bad news. Most likely bad news, though." Kai responded.
"You seem to know your stuff, huh?" The A-Rank asked with a smile.
"Meh, just watch a lot of movies and read a shit ton of stories."
"Moving Vee?" He asked
Amaya shook her head. "Don’t worry about it. He’s weird."
Kai slapped her ass.
"Nyaaa!"
They walked for another three minutes before reaching the bottom of the stairs, and what greeted them was exactly what Kai expected: bad news.
On both sides of the hall were cells that contained something no one could explain. They could only be explained as a monstrosity.
In each cell was a human experiment that went wrong. Limbs were contorted, body parts weren’t in their right location, and some were even transformed into monsters wearing human skin that was stretched far beyond what it normally should be like.
Amyay gagged. "Ohh, god! I think I’m gonna be sick!"
"These insane bastards!" The A-Rank cursed.
"What’s that over there?" Gwen pointed in the distance.
When they arrived, they saw a large magic circle that was engraved in the ground on a large pedestal that was filled with blood.
"I’m guessing this is not a magic circle that normal people use." Kai guessed
"You’d be correct. This is a demonic circle. Only demons or the Cult use these types of circles." Gwen informed him.
"We need to inform the church." The A-Rank said, slightly panicking.
’Ugh, no, not them. I’m definitely not staying around for that. No sir! Gonna get all religious on me and....Wait. I’m the hero. Girls will flock to me like crazy! Meh, I’ll deal with that later on my own time, not the Church’s.’
"Let’s get out of here. We have everything we need to know." Kai announced.
"And what about those...things? Are we just going to leave them here?" An A-Rank girl asked.
"Yup. I mean, you can touch and free them if you want. But when they turn out to be crazy, world-destroying monsters that carry diseases which kill half the population of the kingdom, and are only not doing that right now because the cell they’re in is keeping them at bay, don’t say I didn’t warn you." Kai responded.
"O-On second thought, maybe we should let the church handle this."
"Good choice." Kai smiled
"Hey, guys, check this out. Looks like there is another secret room here." An A-Rank called out.
Everyone went to his location and saw that there was another secret room in the secret room. Well, more like an obvious room since the door was fucking massive.
"Wait! Don’t open that?" Gwen shouted.
"W-What? Why?"
"It’s a Labyrinth!" She announced in a low, creepy voice.
"Dude, just say that normally next time. Don’t scare the shit out of us." Kai said as he hid behind Amaya’s back.
"Sorry, but this is serious. We shouldn’t enter this place. Depending on what Tier this labyrinth is, we could get killed easily. I think it will be best to report all of this to the Guildmaster first."
Everyone agreed and left the secret room together.
"Well, it’s been an eventful few days. We get attacked by assassins, raid a bandit stronghold, and find a secret dungeon, all built on top of a Labyrinth. No wonder these bandits made this place their home. If they managed to clear the labyrinth, they would get some great treasures." Kai did read Martha’s book while he was in Hearthwood, so he was familiar with it.
In this world, a Labyrinth would basically be a dungeon or gate from the stories back on Earth. Same thing, different name. He was thankful that only the name was different since he was not trying to walk around with a golden string tied to his waist just so he could know where the exit was.
"Is that everything?" The A-Rank asked
"Should be. Unless the others still need time to do something." Kai said.
"No, they should be ready to go. I came to you because we were all ready, then you found the secret pathway."
"Ahh, well, we’re done here. Let’s go back to the guild."
