The Heiress Spoiled by Four Brothers and One Devilish CEO-Chapter 311 Let’s give him a proper send-off
Luna stared at Karl’s unmoving chest, her fingertips trembling as she reached out to check for his breath.
Her voice cracked, "Karl, seriously... you’re really gonna leave me here all alone?"
She hugged his head tightly into her arms, hot tears falling onto his eyelids.
Maybe it was her imagination, but she swore she saw his eyelids twitch. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
Quickly, she laid him flat and bit through the skin on her fingers, letting her blood drip into his mouth and on his wound.
But nothing changed.
Luna broke down, crying like her heart had been ripped open. She pounded on his chest with all her strength.
"Why? Why am I the one who has to deal with this pain? You won’t let me die, right? But if I die, Tristan dies too, so why are you making this so hard?"
She kept hitting him, not stopping until he coughed.
Her tear-streaked face dropped down, and she saw him slowly open his eyes. Her lips curled into a smile, but the tears didn’t stop.
She’d never cried like this before—it was like she’d emptied a lifetime’s worth of tears in just this moment.
"Karl..."
She slipped her arms behind his neck and helped him sit up.
Karl took a deep breath and gently touched her face. "Seriously? You were hitting me that hard—were you trying to kill your husband?"
Luna started sobbing all over again. "You’re such a jerk! You were awake and just watched me bawl my eyes out? What was that, fun for you?"
"Well, at least now I know there’s someone in this world who cries for me." Karl wiped her face clean of smudges from all that crying, "Luna, do you hate me for this?"
Luna glanced over at Mr. Ford’s lifeless body, then shook her head and pressed her lips together. "He might be my father, but he did some awful things—he had way too much blood on his hands."
Karl stood up and pinched her cheek gently. "Now we’re literally tied together by life and death."
Luna nodded. "Don’t worry, I’ll live well even if it’s just for myself. Megan and Tristan finally got their chance to be together, I have to keep it together. Plus, it’s not forever. Just five years, right? In six months, Tristan won’t be linked to my life anymore."
Karl glanced over at the body, "Let’s give him a proper send-off."
Luna nodded.
They weren’t taking chances—people had come back from the dead before, and they didn’t want history repeating itself. Mr. Ford wasn’t a normal guy; the tricks he knew weren’t easy to deal with.
That night, they burned his body, reducing it to nothing but ashes.
Karl placed his ashes into the urn Keith brought and buried him under a pine tree.
He turned to Luna, "From today on, we’re leaving the temple. Is there anything else you want to take?"
Luna shook her head. "There’s nothing here I’m attached to. Let’s go now."
Karl wrapped his arm around her and they walked down the mountain together.
Keith rubbed his nose and muttered, "Finally, that old man bit the dust. Back when he locked me up with that nutjob, I thought I’d die from the stress. Now the world can breathe again."
Keith drove them toward Capitol City. On the way, Karl notified Oliver about Mr. Ford’s death, and the Lewis family finally felt like they could relax.
Some people pass, and it brings grief. Others die... and it feels like the world just got lighter.
Meanwhile, Megan traced the source of the photos.
Tristan took down the address and headed out alone...
