Chapter 141: Chapter 141 Megan Doesn’t Sound Like A ’Good Girl’

Lindon City Airport.

An elderly couple with silver hair walked in, leaning on each other for support. Two helpers trailed behind, dragging their suitcases.

Amelia trotted up with a gentle smile, reaching out to support Mrs. Lewis, who was holding prayer beads in her hand. "Grandpa, Grandma, I missed you both so much. You’re finally back."

Mrs. Lewis gave her hand a soft pat. "Haven’t seen my Amelia in half a year, and you’ve gotten even prettier and more sensible."

"Grandpa, Grandma,"

"Grandpa, Grandma."

Oliver and Samuel came forward and greeted them politely.

Mr. Lewis, seeing Amelia holding onto Mrs. Lewis, let go and walked ahead with his grandsons.

Still sharp and lively, he clasped his hands behind his back as he strode forward. "So, what did you find out?"

Oliver replied softly, "Megan from the Shaw family—DNA results came back yesterday. Mom and Dad don’t know yet. We’re worried Mom won’t be able to stay calm when she finds out."

Samuel chuckled. "Too late. Mom’s already made the first move—she’s claimed Megan as her goddaughter."

Mr. Lewis froze for a second, clearly surprised, then kept walking like nothing happened. "Don’t let word get out. If we want to get to the bottom of what really happened back then, it has to be done quietly. Especially since your grandma is so fond of Amelia. If that girl really turns out to be ours, convincing her will be tough."

Samuel rubbed his nose. "Seriously, I don’t get why Grandma dotes on Amelia so much. Megan’s actually blood-related, but she still prefers someone unrelated?"

Mr. Lewis shot him a glance. "Amelia was raised by your grandma. Blood or not, that bond runs deep."

Samuel just scoffed. "Come on, Grandpa. You can’t tell me you haven’t noticed—all her success is built on stepping over my pain."

Mr. Lewis laughed. "Well, too bad you’re a boy! If you were a girl, you’d be the treasure of the family."

Samuel grumbled, "You always play favorites. Oliver, Jason, even Brandon—all of them get more love than me."

Oliver snorted. "Because when Mom was carrying you, everyone was hoping you’d be a girl."

"Oh sure, like that’s my fault!"

Mr. Lewis clapped Samuel on the back. "If you wanna change your gender, Grandpa won’t stop you."

Samuel took a deep breath, feeling every bit the unwanted child.

Meanwhile, Amelia watched the three of them walk off, their figures growing smaller. She gently leaned her cheek on Mrs. Lewis’ shoulder. "Grandma, I missed you so much while you were gone. I didn’t dare say it earlier, but I really need to talk to you."

Mrs. Lewis looked at her with concern. "What’s wrong, sweetheart? Tell me everything. You’ve got Grandma on your side."

Tears slipped down Amelia’s cheeks as she wiped them away. "Grandma... Mom and Dad didn’t come to pick you up because... Mom got into a car accident."

"What?!"

Amelia nodded, then quickly added, "Don’t panic. She’s okay—just a mild concussion. But honestly, it shouldn’t have happened at all. Lately, she’s been spending a lot of time with Megan from the Shaw family. Maybe it’s because Megan kinda looks like Mom, and she’s really good at charming people, so Mom’s gotten really fond of her. Yesterday, the two of them were out driving to lunch... and that’s when the accident happened."Mrs. Lewis rubbed the prayer beads in her hand and let out a weary sigh. "Stella’s still hung up on finding her daughter after all these years... I bet she saw this girl and thought she looked like someone from the Lewis family again."

Amelia let out a quiet hum. "It’s understandable she wants to find the real daughter. After all, I’m not the real one, and I can’t fill that emotional gap. But this Megan... she’s been getting into some shady stuff lately. Always popping up at the police station—some say she’s tied to a bunch of serious cases, even deaths."

Mrs. Lewis’ expression turned stern. She despised troublemakers. "She doesn’t exactly sound like a ’good girl,’ does she?"

"Grandma..." Amelia choked back a sob.

"What is it, sweetheart? If something’s bothering you, just tell me. I’ve got your back." Seeing the child she raised looking so crushed made Mrs. Lewis’ heart ache.

"At that jewelry design competition... nobody believed me. They said I plagiarized Megan’s work. I don’t have someone like Tristan to lean on. Even my brothers seem to really like her..."

Mrs. Lewis’s eyes hardened in an instant. "That Megan is just using those men. She’s clearly one of those manipulative types! Don’t worry. You’ve got me. Those clueless boys won’t dare disrespect you with me around!"

Amelia looked truly pitiful. "But... Mom already accepted her as a goddaughter. And Dad even gave her a Rolls-Royce as a gift when she started calling him Dad."

"Would you listen to that?! I step away for a bit, and some home-wrecker turns this place upside down!" Mrs. Lewis patted Amelia’s hand in comfort. "Don’t be scared. So-called ’goddaughter’ or not, you’re the only daughter in this family. Even if the real one turns up someday, you’ll always be my precious girl. No one compares to you."

Amelia leaned her head on Mrs. Lewis’ shoulder, but her eyes sparkled with cold calculation, the smug curve of her lips betraying her satisfaction.

Meanwhile, Tristan and Megan had just dropped off Zachary and Stella at Samuel’s villa.

Before anyone could get out of the car, Zachary received a call from Mrs. Lewis. She’d seen the news and was concerned about Stella’s wellbeing. She planned to come to the capital to check in on her.

To save her the trouble, Zachary calmed Stella down and convinced her to return to Lindon City for now.

Stella, though reluctant, agreed.

Megan sensed Stella’s attachment to her, so she asked Tristan to drive them back to Lindon City.

For the entire drive, Stella barely took her eyes off Megan, clearly smitten.

She even discreetly picked up a strand of Megan’s hair and tucked it into her purse.

She was planning yet another DNA test—after all these years and so many failed tries, one more wouldn’t hurt.

One and a half hours later, their car pulled into the Lewis family estate.

Megan helped Stella out while Zachary and Tristan flanked them on either side.

Inside, Mr. Lewis and Mrs. Lewis were sipping tea on the couch, Amelia dutifully attending to them at Mrs. Lewis’ side.

Quickly stepping forward, Stella introduced, "This is my goddaughter, Megan. Tristan, Megan, meet your grandparents."

Mr. Lewis nodded slightly, lips curled in a polite smile. "It’s been a while, Tristan. So this is your lovely wife?"

Tristan bowed respectfully. "Mr. and Mrs. Lewis."

He hesitated to call them ’Grandpa’ and ’Grandma,’ and Megan noticed. With a glance at Stella, she decided to help ease things by greeting them herself.

"Hello, Grandpa, Grandma."

Mrs. Lewis snorted coldly. "Our family isn’t some open house for nobodies off the sidewalk."
