The Happy Farmer Wanderer-Chapter 748: Jing Yan’s Treasure Box_1
If cultivators were to undertake construction projects, their efficiency would surely compress the cost to an extreme.
Li Qing had just been complaining about the lack of materials and tools, yet in the blink of an eye, a sturdy little cabin had appeared.
Five thick branches served as support, and the walls were propped up with sticks as thick as arms; the material used to secure the top was not something simple but a substance known as Void Silk, provided by Jing Yan.
This thing, according to Jing Yan, was a kind of material used in refining artifacts, extremely tough, resembling the roots of a sort of Ganoderma.
Seemingly called Void Mushroom, it grows in a special environment, often found on top of Crystal Stones.
Its roots can easily break through and take root in crystals, showing just how formidable it is.
Li Qing watched as Jing Yan used this stuff to tie the logs together and was entirely overwhelmed with astonishment; she was truly willful.
Just by hearing about the environment it grows in, one could tell how extraordinary it was.
Although Jing Yan didn’t make it explicit, Li Qing guessed that this Void Silk must be an extremely rare treasure.
But at this moment, it had become nothing more than rope.
Jing Yan had a rather powerful rationale for using heavenly materials and earthly treasures to bind the logs; she said she was worried that movements might become too vigorous at night, potentially kicking the walls down, so they had to use something sturdier.
Her acceptance level for these matters seemed quite high; now, she even dared to speak openly about it.
The speaker felt nonchalant, but she had made Zi Ling, who overheard, feel rather embarrassed, glancing around as if lost in thought.
The cabin was quickly finished, and like performing a magic trick, Jing Yan pulled out several thin blankets, a few fist-sized Luminous Pearls, and an assortment of snacks.
Li Qing and Zi Ling were completely dumbfounded.
He had just been grumbling about not having anything, yet suddenly, everything was there, even snacks.
Jing Yan’s possession seemed akin to Doraemon’s pocket.
At least Doraemon’s pocket had a place to be, while Jing Yan, on the other hand, left Li Qing clueless about where she stored all these items; her clothes were simple, and she didn’t wear many accessories.
"Yan’er, you even prepared all these things?" Li Qing asked in surprise.
"I didn’t prepare them; these are always with me," Jing Yan explained with a smile, "I don’t like staying in one place in the Underground Palace and sometimes change sleeping spots, so having a few blankets is convenient. As for the snacks, I bought them over the last couple of days."
Li Qing couldn’t help but laugh and cry at the same time; it seemed there had been no preparation at all.
But now, whatever they needed was available; nothing was missing.
She laid the blankets on the floor of the treehouse, then hung those Luminous Pearls on the wall, the small treehouse instantly transformed, becoming cozy and filled with a faint, pleasant fragrance.
Li Qing recognized the scent; it was not any makeup or perfume, but purely Jing Yan’s natural fragrance.
"Now we’re only missing some wine. With such a nice environment, it would be perfect to have a little drink," Li Qing said, laughing as he gathered the snacks Jing Yan had taken out to one side.
Jing Yan suddenly gave a mysterious smile, conjured a jar of wine out of thin air and placed it on the ground, "This is the ’Daughter’s Red’ I brewed myself years ago. Others plant a parasol tree and brew ’Daughter’s Red’ when they have a daughter, but I just found it amusing to brew some myself, thinking that when my beauty fades, I would spend my days with this wine I brewed."
"But who would have thought that this wine, once stored, would be over a thousand years old? After I awoke a while back, I opened it up for a taste, and it seemed still drinkable, with a rich flavor too."
Li Qing couldn’t help but laugh. "Yan’er, you really do have everything. This is truly ancient wine in the real sense of the term. If you put it up for sale, I bet you could fetch a pretty penny easily."
"I have no desire to covet money for these items, but if my husband wishes to use them, I can bring them all out. I suppose we could still pick out a few hundred jars that are drinkable," Jing Yan said earnestly.
Li Qing quickly waved his hand. "I was just giving an example. But still, a few hundred jars of wine? You brewed quite a lot, didn’t you?"
"Well, I truly had nothing better to do. Staying in that place that was almost indistinguishable from the Underground Palace, shrouded in eternal darkness, I could only find things to keep myself busy. I didn’t like needlework. I did all sorts of things that other women would have found utterly unladylike back in the day," Jing Yan said with a smile.
"Those who stick to conventions are just ordinary people wherever they go. Otherwise, why have all the others turned to dust, yet only Yan’er, you have seen this different world?" Li Qing said with a laugh.
Jing Yan opened the mud seal of the wine jar and said faintly, "Actually, some of them did wake up, but I executed them."
"Waking up after a thousand years is almost like a form of rebirth; I didn’t want to relive those dark days from a millennium ago."
Li Qing was taken aback by the sudden turn of the conversation.
"Once bitten by a snake, one is scared of the well rope for ten years; it’s understandable," Li Qing said after a moment’s hesitation.
Some things couldn’t simply be labeled as good or bad, but Jing Yan was now his woman, and Li Qing knew he should protect her. He wasn’t very clear about the past events, and in truth, it wasn’t his place to comment, but Li Qing believed in Jing Yan’s character.
As soon as the mud seal was removed, a strong, fragrant aroma wafted out—rich and clear with hints of sweetness.
"This wine seems a bit too outstanding; it feels almost wasteful for an ordinary man like me to drink it!" Li Qing said teasingly, laughing.
He wasn’t much of a wine connoisseur, but just from smelling its aroma, he had the feeling that this was no ordinary brew.
"This Daughter’s Red of mine is now left for my husband to drink, which is quite fitting," Jing Yan said with a graceful smile. "It seems like there’s something invisible binding all of this closely together. Although I can’t make sense of it, I still feel joy."
"Give it a try, give it a try," Li Qing urged with a smile. "This is my first time tasting thousand-year-old vintage wine."
Jing Yan personally poured a small bowl for Li Qing. "Please, my husband."
Li Qing took a very small sip, closed his eyes, and savored it. "I can’t think of the words to describe it, but it truly feels like Jadescent Nectar. It’s delicious—swallowing it, I feel as if my whole being becomes clear in an instant, and it doesn’t burn the throat at all."
"Sister Yan, I’d like to try some too," Zi Ling said with curiosity.
Jing Yan poured another bowl for her and Zi Ling.
"Let’s drink together," Li Qing proposed with a smile.
Tonight, the moonlight was bright and pure, the mountains and fields a hazy undulation.
For Li Qing, this was a very wondrous experience, like a magnificent dream that suddenly arrived.
It was as if he had dreamt back to ancient times.
With the wine at his lips, yet it felt dreamlike and surreal.
