The Happy Farmer Wanderer-Chapter 671 Making Another Deal_1
Zi Ling still seemed somewhat skeptical about what Li Qing had said.
Li Qing curled his lip disdainfully and lectured without any courtesy, "Although you look grown-up, you’re still too green."
"Do you know what ’scarcity makes something more valuable’ means? If I hadn’t made the orange cat think this elixir was so hard to come by, how could it possibly have been willing to part with so many elixirs in exchange? The rougher the seas, the pricier the fish. No matter the origin or use of my elixir, it’s hard to come by!"
Shisan’s mouth gradually widened, and he said in utter amazement, "Senior Brother Li, are you actually deceiving a cat?"
"Deceiving people isn’t easy, but deceiving a cat should be fine, right? Not everyone is as stubborn as you, insisting on competing with a cat that’s incredibly strong. You’re just making trouble for yourself," Li Qing said with a smile.
Shisan smiled sheepishly and said, "I... indeed tend to be too straightforward. But I really don’t have anything impressive on me to exchange with that orange cat."
"You won’t admit you’re dense, will you? Just take things out one by one. What if the cat takes a liking to something you don’t fancy?" said Li Qing, annoyed, finding his companion too stubborn.
Before he took out the Solidifying Spirit Elixir, he hadn’t really expected that the orange cat would take a fancy to it either.
Though his elixir was worth a million and was genuinely good stuff.
But the premise of the matter is that you have to try!
In an instant, it was as if Shisan had an epiphany, his eyes lighting up.
"Senior Brother Li’s lesson is well taken. Next time I run into that orange cat, I’ll give it a try. It might really like something I have, and then I can get a share of whatever you’re having too. That cat clearly has other places to stash elixirs. The ones in the storage room last time were almost all taken by the two of us, yet today it brought so many more," Shisan said excitedly.
Li Qing opened the chest and, with some distress, took out two bottles of elixir whose effects he was currently unaware of and handed them to Shisan.
"Fair’s fair, here’s two for you guys."
Shisan shook his head and refused Li Qing’s generosity, "Senior Brother Li, these were obtained through your exchange... I... I better not."
"Take them. You need to recover quickly. We’ve got a lot more to do," said Li Qing.
Shisan accepted the offer and thanked Li Qing politely.
Zi Ling was still repeatedly examining the elixir, her usually sweet face almost wrinkling into a bitter gourd expression.
"Stop looking. If you really have the guts to try it, you’ll find out," said Li Qing with a hint of mischief in his smile.
Zi Ling, puzzled, said, "I’ve never seen an elixir like this before. It looks just like a bead formed from water. You can even clearly see the bubbles inside. If you say you’ve boiled the herbs in water and then solidified the elixir, it couldn’t possibly be so clear, and it definitely wouldn’t have this color."
"But if it were made in a common way, it shouldn’t be able to solidify like this. How on earth did you do it?"
"I can tell you the method, but after all, it’s my unique skill. After hearing it, you’ll have to pay a price," Li Qing said earnestly, his expression suddenly turning serious, "We can make an exchange."
"Then forget it. I’m not really interested in your so-called unique skill," Zi Ling said, naturally pocketing the elixir into her own, showing no intention of returning it to Li Qing.
"Give me back my elixir!" Li Qing demanded.
"What elixir? When did I take your elixir?" Zi Ling replied, barely concealing a smile, arching her eyebrow, and snatching a bottle of elixir from Shisan’s arms before striding away triumphantly.
"Hey, you old hag, is this a robbery?" Li Qing chased after her.
If she took advantage of him like this right in front of him, how would he be able to hold his head up in the future?
Zi Ling sneaked into the bathroom stealthily, running faster than a rabbit.
Just as she was about to close the door, Li Qing took the opportunity to charge in.
"What are you trying to do?" Zi Ling asked loudly, her hands nervously protecting her front.
"Give me my elixir, and that bottle too, I’ve changed my mind, I’m not giving it to you anymore," Li Qing said.
"How can you go back on your word like this? Since when do you take back something you’ve already given?" Zi Ling retorted indignantly.
"Because I feel like I’ve lost out, and have been deceived as well," Li Qing said sternly, standing at the doorway.
"Unless you propose fair terms, return the elixir!"
Zi Ling’s eyes twinkled playfully as she suddenly broke into a smile, "I get it now, you just want to take advantage of me, don’t you?"
"I want your talismans, I know you brought a lot of them this time. Give me a few of your talismans or let me use the invisibility talisman a couple of times," Li Qing said. "One bottle of elixir plus one that even that picky orange cat liked, I think you’re not losing out at all."
"Shisan didn’t understand, but I’m sure you did. That cat has always fed on various kinds of elixirs and can definitely discern which ones are good. So clearly, my elixir is successful and might even be quite powerful."
"And you talk about taking advantage? Do you think your looks can trade for so many elixirs?"
This brash woman had no clue at all in her heart!
Taking such trivial advantage of her wasn’t nearly as substantial as those talismans.
Li Qing had set his sights on them the first time they met, especially the invisibility talisman—that thing was a gem.
Zi Ling was so infuriated that she gritted her teeth, "Then give me another bottle of elixir."
"You wish, do you know what that elixir you are holding is worth? Easily millions, let me tell you," Li Qing said, irritated.
This greedy old lady was too much.
"Do you think talismans are cheap? These talismans were personally drawn by my master. Even low-level ones cost around a hundred thousand each; they’re not waste paper. A real invisibility talisman can easily reach a million," Zi Ling said.
"Then do the math, how does your hundred thousand compare to my millions?" Li Qing asked, annoyed.
This brash woman’s math skills were absolutely horrendous; couldn’t she even handle such a simple calculation?
"How about this, give me ten talismans, and let me use the invisibility talisman twice, then the value will be about equal," Li Qing said.
Zi Ling hesitated, then unexpectedly agreed, "Fine, but I’ll only lend the invisibility talisman to you once."
"That’s one of the few top-tier talismans, which can only be used nine times at most, and it doesn’t have many uses left now."
"Wouldn’t I be at a huge loss then? How about this—if you kiss me, I’ll agree to one less use," Li Qing suggested, a flicker of thought crossing his mind. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
In a situation of equivalent benefits, he was still quite willing to take an advantage.
"What?!" Zi Ling’s eyes widened in an instant.
