The Happy Farmer Wanderer-Chapter 670: Trading with the Orange Cat_1
Li Qing just really couldn’t understand how the orange cat managed to carry the box all the way up from such a high floor.
Although the cat was plump, it seemed minuscule compared to the box on its back.
What’s more outrageous was that not only did it know how to tie the box with ropes, it even knew how to tie a slip knot.
It was evident that this cat wasn’t just spiritually awakened, but exceptionally so.
Li Qing felt that even he would need to come up with some tricks to carry this box on his back.
As for climbing up to such a high floor, forget about it, it was absolutely impossible.
The fact proved that this cat was more extraordinary than he was.
The orange cat unloaded the box onto the desk, then very naturally lifted the lid with a paw and tilted its head at Li Qing.
By its look, it seemed to be suggesting Li Qing to take a look.
Li Qing approached tentatively, which was only proper since the cat was somewhat ferocious.
He peered into the box, and Li Qing was immediately dumbstruck.
What a treasure trove, indeed a treasure trove.
Had the cat brought over its entire private stash?
Inside, numerous bottles and jars were densely packed, and it seemed the cat had even thought to protect them from clinking by stuffing grass in between.
At a glance, there were at least forty or fifty bottles.
Li Qing picked up one of the bottles and asked the orange cat, "It’s all right if I take a look, yes?"
The orange cat nodded elegantly.
Only then did Li Qing feel at ease to open the Elixir, which was the Marrow Refining Elixir.
And, indeed, most of the bottles in the box were filled with this elixir, with the rest containing other kinds of Elixirs.
There were also several bottles of three Elixirs that even Li Qing had not yet figured out the effects of.
It looked like the orange cat truly understood his meaning, accommodating him completely.
Perhaps it couldn’t find any more Marrow Refining Elixirs, so it filled up the box with other Elixirs to make up for it.
This cat was very sincere.
The Elixirs it brought over amounted to several times more than what Li Qing had managed to gather before.
"Although you’ve brought over the Elixirs, the specific elixir will have to wait until next month; we’ve run out this month," Li Qing said with an apologetic face. "That Elixir is produced in extremely limited quantities each month, only a few pieces available, and I did tell you that last time. I had no idea you would manage to bring the Elixirs so quickly."
"How about this, your sincerity is evident, and I can’t shortchange you. I will give you a different elixir for the time being. You take these Elixirs back now and come find me again in the middle of next month."
The orange cat meowed softly with a somewhat displeased expression.
It patted the box with its paw and with a gentle push, the box flew towards Li Qing.
Li Qing hastened to catch it in a fluster, "But I don’t have the Elixir you’re asking for right now, and we can’t force a sale."
The orange cat meowed insistently, gesticulating a series of movements with its paws at Li Qing.
Li Qing looked closely with a discerning eye, and only then did he understand the orange cat’s intention.
The Elixirs belonged to Li Qing, and it would return next month to get that Elixir.
The only elixir it was interested in was the Solidifying Spirit Elixir, not wanting any of the others.
"Is this really okay? Aren’t you afraid I’d go back on my word?" Li Qing couldn’t help but ask with a tinge of amusement.
The ginger cat let out a low whine and shot Li Qing a threatening look, then pointed at Shisan standing at the doorway.
Li Qing understood the cat’s meaning in an instant.
Not only did Li Qing understand, but Shisan and Zi Ling also caught on.
The cat was using Shisan’s fate to threaten Li Qing, implying that if Li Qing dared to back out, his future would mirror Shisan’s current state.
Shisan, puffing with anger, brandished the wooden sword in his hand but ultimately didn’t dare to utter any harsh words.
Really, this cat didn’t hold back when it came to hitting people—with the added risk of fractures and potential disfigurement.
Li Qing gave a wry smile and nodded, "Alright, then I’ll listen to you."
The orange cat meowed and with an elegant turn, swiftly leaped out the window like a blur of amber.
"Senior Brother Li, how on earth did you do it?" Shisan cautiously glanced in the direction of the window, then approached.
Li Qing laughed and said, "This cat has obviously attained some kind of sentience. You can’t deal with a cunning creature using just brute force. Courtesy before force, as they say. Sometimes, that really brings unexpected benefits, and look, this is the result." 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
"These things are much better than the ones we’ve painstakingly scraped together, and with no risk whatsoever."
If they themselves had taken them out, they would probably have had to squabble with the archaeologists or at least provide some explanation to their organization.
But with these, there was no risk at all.
It was the cat who took them, not them, so nobody could say anything.
Shisan stared at the large chest with an incredulous expression, "I think it’s just Senior Brother’s good fortune, even the orange cat gives you face."
"Cut the crap about good fortune—you didn’t hear it was exchanged for an elixir, he must have offered something very enticing to the cat, and that’s why that cunning critter agreed," Zi Ling interjected.
Shisan immediately asked with curiosity, "Senior Brother Li, what elixir did you actually offer to hoodwink such a crafty cat? Tell us, if my master can make it, maybe we could also reap a little benefit."
Li Qing smiled, "It’s just something I concocted by chance, a beauty and skincare elixir."
"No, that’s not right. My original intention was to create a beauty and skincare elixir, but it’s turned out to be something of a mishmash. I don’t even dare to take it myself. I just tried it out that day by chance, not expecting that the cat would be so choosy, yet it actually agreed."
"A beauty and skincare elixir? Does a cat even need to beautify and care for its complexion?" Shisan muttered in disbelief.
Zi Ling snorted lightly, "He’s tricking you. That cat uses all kinds of elixirs as its food, how could it possibly be drawn to some odd, mixed-up elixir? He definitely has other more impressive elixirs at his disposal, which is why the cat agreed to cooperate obediently."
Zi Ling, that tough cookie, clearly wasn’t as easy to fool as Shisan.
But the matter of the Solidifying Spirit Elixir, he absolutely could not reveal for the time being.
Qi Junhou’s words of caution still echoed in his ears, and the precedent set by Lü Zong was right before his eyes; Li Qing did not want to create trouble for himself.
Bearing a treasure without guilt invites blame.
Mulling over this, he took out an Immortality Elixir from his chest and tossed it to Zi Ling, "This thing. If you’re brave enough, give it a try."
"The method I used to concoct this elixir is based on a very ancient recipe. The goal was to provide some beauty treatments for a few women around me, but after the elixir was made, I’ve never dared to test it—dying from it would be most unfortunate, so I’ve only used it externally."
"If you’re daring, you can serve as a test for the elixir, to see if it’s ingestible. However, its external use does have quite good effects."
"If you already have an elixir, why didn’t you give it to that cat?" Zi Ling raised an eyebrow slightly and asked doubtfully.
