The Happy Farmer Wanderer-Chapter 346: Misunderstanding with the Female Principal_1
Not long after Guan Lin left, quite a few teachers came by Li Qing’s place one after another.
They were all there to collect teaching supplies.
This made Li Qing heave a sigh of relief, thankful for Guan Lin’s reminder; otherwise, he might have actually been caught in the act.
Even though Li Qing had made a note of where everything was that morning, when he actually got busy, he couldn’t help but become flustered and started searching frantically.
Just as he had sent this group of teachers on their way, a fiery red figure suddenly burst in.
"A small blackboard, five lesson planners, a big box of chalk, and two markers," she said, listing everything she needed in one breath.
"Okay! Just a moment, please."
Li Qing was bent over, replenishing the supplies the other teachers had taken when he responded without thinking.
By the time he finished, he looked up to see a cold and bewitching face.
It was none other than the female principal, Qi Mengru.
Her face was stern, her expression carrying a chilliness.
Even in the sweltering summer heat, she gave off a cold vibe, as if keeping everyone at a distance of a thousand miles.
Yet she was wearing a fiery red dress, like a blazing flame.
The tight-fitted red dress with a flared bottom outlined the captivating curves of her hourglass figure.
Li Qing found himself staring, momentarily dumbstruck.
"Do I look good?" the principal’s thin red lips moved slightly.
Li Qing nodded subconsciously.
Realizing what he had done, he looked mortified and quickly said, "I’ll go get your items now."
He had been inadvertently staring, and was caught by this woman.
This was a massive social death in progress.
Li Qing wished he could just find a hole to bury himself in.
Scolding himself internally, he hurried into the storeroom.
Li Qing, somewhat flustered, carried out all the items Qi Mengru had asked for.
"Principal Qi, please check them, then sign here," Li Qing was saying when suddenly a thick stack of lesson planners fell from his hands and thudded onto the floor.
"Ah!"
Qi Mengru screamed, clutching her foot suddenly.
Li Qing was immediately dumbfounded.
This had to be some horrible coincidence!
"Principal Qi, I didn’t do it on purpose," Li Qing hurriedly explained.
But as he moved, the small blackboard tucked under his arm also fell with a clatter, unfortunately landing on Qi Mengru’s other foot.
Li Qing was completely stunned.
There must have been something wrong with his hands today.
Qi Mengru, after rubbing her left foot, started on the right one, tears almost falling as she shot a murderous glance at Li Qing.
"Uh... sorry, I really didn’t mean to. Maybe I could take a look for you?" Li Qing said, awkward and flustered. He truly hadn’t anticipated such an unfortunate coincidence.
Qi Mengru suddenly looked up, her voice cold as she asked, "Is this your agenda?"
"What agenda?" Li Qing asked, puzzled.
Qi Mengru snorted, "Just wait to be fired, you scoundrel!"
Having said that, she snatched the chalk and markers from Li Qing, piled all her supplies onto the small blackboard, and limped away from the logistics office.
Li Qing was baffled.
What agenda could he have? He truly hadn’t been paying attention just now.
Li Qing entered his dorm with a dejected face and recorded the items that Qi Mengru had just taken.
This was insane. Surely Qi Mengru couldn’t think he’d deliberately dropped things on her foot to take advantage of the situation?
Shit!
Li Qing, who had just realized the situation, felt completely terrible in an instant.
If he were fired for this reason, he would truly die wronged.
A lifetime of good reputation would be ruined in an instant.
What the hell is all of this!
However, although Principal Qi was an absolutely cold and stunning beauty, wasn’t her reaction a bit too intense?
And upon further reflection, Li Qing also realized that he really was too meddlesome.
Having caused the accident was bad enough, but why did he have to go and offer help? That was just like asking for trouble.
If anything, he had to blame himself for not understanding what kind of person this woman really was!
Because of this incident, Li Qing felt somewhat uneasy all afternoon.
It was his first day on the job, and if he were to be fired just like that...
It would probably rank as one of the most embarrassing things in the world.
However, until the end of the afternoon, Li Qing had not received any notice of his dismissal.
This eased his mind a little.
Hopefully, the cold Principal Qi wouldn’t make a mountain out of a molehill and set him up for a massive public embarrassment.
With some trepidation in his heart, Li Qing went off campus first.
After buying two bottles of drinks at the kiosk, Li Qing sipped his drink while waiting for Guan Lin.
He hadn’t forgotten about his date with Guan Lin because of the incident with Qi Mengru.
After waiting for about ten minutes, Guan Lin rode her electric bike out of the school gate.
"We still have time, how about we go for a walk first?" Guan Lin came over and gave Li Qing a suggestive look.
Li Qing glanced at the teachers who were exiting the school amidst the students and, sensing what she meant, whispered, "Let’s just casually chat here for a bit, wait until most of the teachers and students have gone, then we’ll leave."
To avoid any gossip that might harm Guan Lin, Li Qing was quite cautious.
"Sure!" Guan Lin smiled, "How did you feel on your first day at work?"
Li Qing sighed softly to himself, for his first day at work could be summed up as a full experience.
If he had to describe it in two words, it would be ’utterly unlucky’.
But to avoid worrying Guan Lin, he did not tell the truth and instead said, "It felt okay, the tasks were pretty easy."
"If you found it difficult, that would be outrageous," Guan Lin said with a light laugh.
"The things you’re doing now were once done by a layabout. If a layabout can do them, then they definitely shouldn’t be difficult for you."
Li Qing didn’t respond, but inside he was muttering to himself.
If today’s incident had happened to a layabout instead, Qi Mengru probably wouldn’t have been angry or made threats; she might even have shown some concern for the old chap.
The two of them chatted idly for a bit, and the peak of students and teachers leaving the school had passed.
"Let’s go now."
Li Qing handed the drink to Guan Lin and stood up saying in a low voice, "How about we book an hourly room?"
"Let’s not, I’m a bit worried about going to those kinds of places," Guan Lin declined, her face flushing with shyness.
Li Qing nodded, "All right then, let’s just walk at a leisurely pace, it’s getting dark anyway."
In his opinion, an hourly room was definitely safer and more comfortable than outdoors.
But since Guan Lin preferred the wilderness, Li Qing had nothing to insist on.
He didn’t really mind.
It’s just that outdoors, they could only use two positions, and couldn’t carry out the others.
The two dawdled and joked, meandering home with laughter and banter.
They kept the speed of the bike between ten and twenty.
"That cornfield up ahead looks good; the people working there should have gone home by now!" Li Qing said, eyes lighting up.
Guan Lin shyly nodded in agreement.
