The Greatest Village Doctor In The World-Chapter 340: Seeking Help Again
Ling Feng felt awkward when he heard that.
After the snowfall, he indeed hadn’t spent much time at home, devoting almost all of his time in the Nine Heavens.
However, even though he understood the situation, he still said with displeasure, "Even if I wasn’t at home, you could have taken something to eat, but why resort to hitting someone?"
This was his most reasonable point; bringing this up meant the beating they got was in vain!
Sure enough, the two men in black exchanged a glance, and then one of them said, "We didn’t mean to hit him on purpose. It’s just that the old man was too stubborn, holding on to us and refusing to let go. No matter what we said, he wouldn’t budge, so we had no choice but to push him away."
Ling Feng knew this was just an excuse; a simple push couldn’t have caused Old Sun to be so severely injured.
But for the sake of saving Luo Beihai’s face, he didn’t bother to call them out. After all, Old Sun wasn’t seriously harmed, and the two had their share of a beating, carrying enough injuries to last for a while.
So Ling Feng smiled and said, "Well, then, it’s all a misunderstanding. I won’t hold it against you!"
The two men in black remained silent, so he went on to ask, "The heavy snow has sealed off the mountains. What are you hiding here for?"
"We’re looking for two companions who have gone missing. There is also another task we can’t disclose. Ask our second-in-command when he arrives," they replied.
Ling Feng smiled to himself, not needing them to say anything to have a good idea of the situation.
But he said out loud, "There’s no need to search for the missing people; they’re already dead, buried nearby. If you want to see the bodies, you’ll have to wait until the snow melts."
"Really dead? Who did it?" the two suddenly became agitated, their eyes widening as they asked.
Ling Feng was tempted to pin the blame on Luo Nanlin, but hesitated and then shook his head. "I don’t know. Let’s wait for the second-in-command to discuss it."
After he finished speaking, he turned to leave but then seemed to remember something and looked back at them, "Next time, I’ll leave the food at the farm; you can just go there to get it."
After saying that, he left, muttering to himself, "The snow has sealed off the mountains, yet the food supply is still quite sufficient, with vegetables and meat and all."
The two men in black heard his words and instantly felt embarrassed.
They had thought that no one would care if they took something to eat while nobody was home, but they almost lost their lives over it!
Watching Ling Feng walk away into the distance, the man with the dagger finally asked, "What’s the story with Ling Feng? How is he so powerful?"
"I don’t know. The second-in-command didn’t mention he had such sharp offensive skills or that he had such formidable wolves with him when he briefed us," the other man shook his head.
"With his current strength, I’m afraid he could even take on a Qi Force expert, right?"
"Hard to say, we’ll talk about him with the master after we get back!"
...
...
Ling Feng returned to the village and went straight to Old Sun’s house.
He was now doing fine and was busy making breakfast for himself on the stove. Seeing Ling Feng return, Old Sun immediately stood up, "Did you find the people? Everything okay?"
"Nothing happened, just gave them a lesson!"
Ling Feng smiled and continued, "Uncle Sun, they can’t just hit you for nothing. In a few days, when the snow melts enough, someone will bring you compensation money."
"Ah? How... how should I deal with this..."
Old Sun was confused, never expecting to receive compensation after getting hit!
Seeing that he was a bit too excited, Ling Feng quickly smiled, "Let’s not talk about this now. Just stay at home these days and don’t go over to the greenhouse anymore."
By the time he got home, it was not early, and after picking up Lin Xue, Ling Feng rode the snowmobile to take her back to the police station.
After reaching their destination, both felt a bit of reluctance to part. Ling Feng couldn’t help but ask, "Or should I just stay and keep you company?"
"That’s really not a good idea!" Lin Xue said, looking down.
"Anyway, there’s nothing else going on today, we might as well just stay here. Who could see us, right?" Ling Feng asked.
Lin Xue glanced at him and said, "That’s even worse. I’m working, how can I stay here with you? That would be violating work discipline!"
Ling Feng felt helpless. She was so principled, and he couldn’t insist on staying, so he simply nodded, "Alright, but if that Zhang Song comes looking for you again, you’re not allowed to laugh and chat with him!"
"I know, jealous much!" Lin Xue gave him a look.
They agreed to meet again in the evening, and Ling Feng rode off on his snowmobile back to Shiliu Village.
On the way, he unexpectedly discovered that beside the trail his own snowmobile had left, there were a few additional tracks, clearly from another snowmobile that had passed through here.
Remembering what Li Yun had said, it looked like someone had come to Luo Lao San’s rescue!
Indeed, before he reached the edge of the village, he saw several dark spots ahead and then four snowmobiles came speeding by him.
Each snowmobile had riders on board, and because they were so bundled up, their faces were not visible, but it was clear that Luo Lao San and Li Yun were among them.
Ling Feng watched them disappear into the distance and chuckled inwardly. The old man had arrived full of bluster, but now he was leaving with his tail between his legs. He wondered if he would still be so pompous next time he came.
Feeling cheerful, Ling Feng returned home. Just as he stopped the snowmobile, the person sitting at the door stood up, "You’re back."
Even with a mask on, Ling Feng recognized the voice and was surprised, "You, you didn’t leave?"
The person was Li Yun, still wearing the same clothes as the day before, with a fluffy hood over her head, revealing only her eyes.
"Yeah, I never planned to leave. Grandpa Lau has been sent to the county for recuperation, and I need to stay here for a while," Li Yun replied.
Ling Feng was a bit stunned and said "oh" as he opened the door. Uncertain why she had returned, he suggested, "Shall we talk inside?"
"Okay."
Li Yun nodded and followed him into the house, then pushed back her hood and took off her mask.
As Ling Feng stirred the remaining coals in the stove, he turned and asked, "Did you need something from me?"
"Mm, I wanted to borrow some food..."
Hearing this, Ling Feng realized, "Ah, I see."
"Don’t worry, it’s not for free. I will repay you double in the future," Li Yun said somewhat nervously.
Ling Feng laughed, "Some food isn’t worth much, don’t worry about repaying it. Are the miners having a hard time too?"
"Yes, if things continue like this, everyone will start to go hungry soon," Li Yun said awkwardly.
Ling Feng looked at her, feeling that this woman also had a tough time, and nodded, "Alright, I’ve got grains and meats here, I’ll pack some up for you in a moment."
"I really appreciate it," Li Yun said quickly.
Ling Feng didn’t say anything, but after a bit of rummaging, filled up two large bags, one with several dozen pounds of grain and the other with frozen meat from the freezer. As for vegetables, he would have to pick them from the greenhouse, so he picked up a basket, ready to head out.
"Should I come with you?" Seeing him busy for a while, Li Yun felt a bit guilty and offered.
Ling Feng turned to look at her, "Sure, you’re not busy anyway."
