Chapter 281: Chapter 281 The Benefits of Walnuts

Xun Qianqian had thrown down a total of seven walnuts; three people had eaten two, so there were five left.

Because they were too large, Ling Feng could only hold them against his chest, bring them back to the entrance, and wait for everyone to take them out when they left.

"I should have brought a bag with me!"

As he walked back towards the tree, he thought to himself.

When he returned, Xun Qianqian was explaining the situation above to Li Shiyun and Li Fei’er.

Indeed, this walnut tree was the tallest in the entire forest sea; by her estimation, it was at least fifty meters high, yet she had only climbed to the twenty-meter mark before her strength was sapped, and she could climb no more.

Nonetheless, standing there, she could see the entirety of the forest sea.

What Ling Feng was most concerned about was exactly this, so he quickly asked, "Is it really all trees? Nothing else?"

Xun Qianqian yawned and shook her head, "No, this tree is like a central point, surrounded by trees. I can’t see what’s beneath them, but over that way, there’s a large area of shorter ones, like fruit trees."

"Alright then, let’s thoroughly search this place later. It’s the First Layer of Heaven, after all; there can’t be just this little stuff, right?" Ling Feng said with some reluctance.

No sooner had he finished speaking than Li Fei’er stretched out her little hand, yawned, and then said, "Uncle, why don’t you search by yourself? I’m feeling sleepy!"

Yawning is contagious, and seeing the two of them fighting off sleep made even Li Shiyun feel a bit drowsy.

Ling Feng was helpless. How could it be just a few hours into the day and they were already feeling sleepy? Who was it that was so excited and insisted on coming in to take a look?

But seeing Li Fei’er truly struggling to keep her eyes open, he could only nod his head, "Okay then, let’s get you back to sleep first."

He turned to leave, but when Li Fei’er and Xun Qianqian didn’t move, he looked back to find that they had actually fallen asleep standing up!

"What the heck is going on? How can they be this sleepy?" Ling Feng said, speechless.

Li Shiyun, with her keen awareness, noticed something amiss and asked, "Could this have something to do with the walnuts we ate? I’m also feeling a bit tired, which normally doesn’t happen."

Ling Feng was shocked, "Why don’t I feel anything?"

"How do you feel?" Li Shiyun glared at him.

"Right, my cultivation level is there, after all!"

Ling Feng had an epiphany; then he went over, took Li Fei’er’s hand, and checked her meridians, but he found nothing unusual.

"This is very strange, let’s get out of here and talk about it," Ling Feng suggested.

After saying this, he handed Li Fei’er over to Li Shiyun and carried Xun Qianqian on his back, then made his way towards the entrance.

The things they had previously collected were left behind for the time being, so they simply dropped them there and returned to the huge rock outside.

In a blink of an eye, the four of them were back in Ling Feng’s room. By then, Xun Qianqian and Li Fei’er had already fallen into a deep sleep; they were placed on the beds by Ling Feng and Li Shiyun without any reaction at all.

"They could be sold off without knowing it; how can they sleep so deeply?" Ling Feng said helplessly.

"Stop with the senseless remarks, hurry up and check on them, make sure there’s no problem!" Li Shiyun said, slightly worried.

Ling Feng looked at her and chuckled, "Don’t worry, there won’t be any problem. It’s indeed because of those walnuts. The spiritual energy contained inside is too rich for their bodies to digest, it’s a kind of self-protection mechanism."

Li Shiyun was startled, her eyes wide as she took a moment to understand, "Like going into shock?"

"Sort of; if I’m not mistaken, they might even develop a fever soon." Ling Feng nodded.

Having just said that, Li Shiyun turned her head to look and noticed that Li Fei’er’s little face was indeed a bit flushed, so she quickly reached out to touch her forehead, "It really is!"

"Don’t worry, it’s a good sign. Who knows, maybe after they wake up, both of them will be in the Clear Force Realm just like that!" Ling Feng said smilingly.

"Ah?"

Li Shiyun was startled, "That’s too fast, isn’t it?"

Ling Feng chuckled, "I’m just guessing, we’ll only know once they do it."

"If they really can break through and become Clear Force Realm cultivators, your walnuts will be way more precious than Agarwood!" Li Shiyun said seriously.

"That’s right, I know!"

Ling Feng nodded and then said, "Are you still sleepy? Why don’t you rest here too?"

"I’m okay. I’ll just take care of the two of them here," Li Shiyun said.

"That works too, I’ll go get the things out."

After saying this, Ling Feng went outside to find two feed bags and re-entered the Illusionary Ring.

Once in the First Layer of Heaven, after packing up the things on the ground, Ling Feng looked up at the distant forest, "Let’s call it a day. There’s plenty of time, I’ll come back later and explore properly."

After speaking, he lifted the bags and left, heading back home.

Li Shiyun had already prepared two wet towels and placed them on Xun Qianqian’s and Li Fei’er’s foreheads to cool them down, while Ling Feng found a small stool to sit on and peeled the green husks off of the remaining five walnuts.

Each busy with their tasks, they chatted idly, creating a warm atmosphere.

After a while, Ling Feng finished the task at hand and suddenly looked up with a smile, "Suddenly, I’ve found the feeling of the past!"

"Hmm? What feeling?" Li Shiyun turned to ask.

"When I was little and lay sick in bed, my mom would feed me medicine by my side, and my dad would sit just like this, dealing with the herbs he’d gathered from the mountains."

Li Shiyun glanced at him, "Feeling like you’re home?"

"Yeah. If it were our own kids lying in the bed, that would be perfect!" Ling Feng nodded.

"Go away! Who’d have kids for you!"

Li Shiyun’s face turned red as she spat at him.

She was shy, but her heart felt sweet.

She also understood that at heart, Ling Feng was a big boy. Seeing the expression he had when recalling his childhood, she knew he was someone who deeply needed the warmth of a family.

So after the laughter, Li Shiyun said softly, "Actually, you already have a family now. No matter who it is, they can give you the feeling of home."

Ling Feng paused, then looked up at her.

Li Shiyun bit her lip, "In the future, your kids will probably fill up this room, right?"

"Uh..."

Ling Feng felt somewhat embarrassed but thickened his skin and stood up to walk over to her, stretching out an arm to wrap it around Li Shiyun’s shoulders, "If anyone’s going to have them, you’re going first!"

"Hey, stop it!"

Li Shiyun, with her face flushed, fended off his other wandering hand, being careful to check on Li Fei’er and Xun Qianqian, afraid that the two might see them.

But she was overthinking it, as both girls had fallen into a deep sleep and wouldn’t wake up even if the sky collapsed outside.

After a while, Li Shiyun felt sleepiness creeping up on her, and she looked up apologetically at Ling Feng, "I can hardly keep my eyes open now."

"You sleep, I’ll take care of the three of you," Ling Feng said softly, his eyes full of tenderness.
