The Greatest Village Doctor In The World-Chapter 1886 - 1885: Surveillance
The opposing side was successfully scared off, and only when they were out of sight did Tian Lian return.
Approaching Ling Feng, she bowed slightly: "Master, they’ve been driven away!"
"Good!"
Ling Feng nodded, stood up, and said, "Let’s head back and chat with Xiang Zelan, see if we can get some benefits out of this!"
Upon hearing this, Sato Saori couldn’t help but roll her eyes at him, but said nothing.
Returning on Little Hong’s back, Xiang Zelan and the man in black were still there.
Actually, not much time had passed, at most half an hour, and even if they’d been waiting for a few hours, they wouldn’t have left.
Now, seeing Ling Feng return, Xiang Zelan promptly asked, "How did it go?"
"What? Haven’t you heard yet that those people have been driven away?" Ling Feng asked with a smile.
Xiang Zelan’s eyes tightened briefly, then she shook her head: "No!"
"Alright, then I’ll tell you now, the others have fled and won’t be reappearing nearby. You can rest assured!" Ling Feng said with a smile.
"Is that so?"
Xiang Zelan nodded, then gazed deeply into Ling Feng’s eyes: "And you? Can you leave now too?"
"How could I?"
Ling Feng shrugged: "Didn’t I say before, until the task is completed, I won’t leave!"
With that, he stared at Xiang Zelan: "So, don’t think about driving me away, I won’t do anything detrimental to you, of course, if you insist on force, I won’t be polite either!"
"..."
Xiang Zelan was truly infuriated, burning with anger inside yet helpless.
She knew confronting Ling Feng would mean walking into death, only a fool would do so!
So after some consideration, Xiang Zelan said, "Since you refuse to leave, there’s nothing I can do. We’ll meet again!"
With that, she turned and walked away, leaving Ling Feng a bit dumbfounded.
Watching her and the man in black walk off into the distance, Ling Feng turned to Sato Saori: "What’s going on?"
"It means she can’t make decisions and needs to report to her superiors, so she left for now but will definitely return!" Sato Saori explained.
"Doesn’t matter to me, let them do what they want; anyway, no one can drive me away!" Ling Feng said.
"Great, they really have no way of dealing with you now!" Sato Saori chuckled.
The volcano continues to emit white smoke, uncertain when it might erupt, so for the time being, Ling Feng and Sato Saori stayed at the campsite.
With nothing else to do, the two started playing checkers to pass the time.
An entire morning passed like this, with no new developments in the surrounding valleys; anyway, within the five-kilometer range covered by Ling Feng’s Divine Sense, everything remained calm.
But by the early afternoon, Ling Feng noticed a car driving into the mountains.
Seeing who was in the car, he was momentarily speechless, turning to Sato Saori: "That Xiang Zelan is back again!"
"Oh? She brought reinforcements?"
Sato Saori asked.
"No, she’s on her own!"
Ling Feng squinted, pondered, and said: "Seems like she’s planning to join us!"
"Huh?"
Sato Saori was taken aback, asking in astonishment: "Join us? What do you mean?"
"Unable to drive us away, so she might as well keep us under surveillance!"
Ling Feng shrugged, smiling.
"Uh, is that even a thing?"
Sato Saori understood, then appeared a bit bemused.
Half an hour later, the car stopped where the road ended, Xiang Zelan stepped out, then grabbed a massive hiking backpack from the back seat, slinging it over her shoulders and headed quickly toward Ling Feng’s location.
Seeing this, Ling Feng was helpless, shook his head, and sighed softly: "This woman is really persistent!"
Nearly an hour later, Xiang Zelan’s figure came into view.
Ling Feng and Sato Saori stayed put, watching quietly as the petite figure approached.
Once she was close, Ling Feng asked: "Miss Xiang, what’s the meaning of this?"
"Nothing much, since Mr. Ling refuses to leave, I can only accompany you, preventing you from doing anything that might harm our country’s interests!" Xiang Zelan replied.
Ling Feng thought, sure enough, and then smiled: "Alright, since you’ve chosen to do this, I clearly can’t drive you away!"
"That’s fine then!"
Xiang Zelan seemed to breathe a sigh of relief, then set down her hiking backpack and began taking things out.
Ling Feng and Sato Saori watched as she pulled out a small tent, sleeping bag, tripod, cooking pot, and other supplies, clearly well-prepared.
After observing for a moment, Ling Feng glanced at Sato Saori.
Understanding quickly, although somewhat unwilling, Sato Saori walked over: "Let me help you."
"Thank you!"
Xiang Zelan’s face turned red as she quickly replied.
Originally, a girl setting up camp before potential adversaries felt bizarre enough.
If not for duty, she wouldn’t have done such a thing!
Now with Sato Saori assisting, plenty of awkwardness was dispelled, hence her gratitude was sincere.
With two people working, the tent was quickly set up.
Once settled, Xiang Zelan sat down and looked at Ling Feng: "How long do you plan to stay here?"
"Could be a few days, or just a few hours, if the volcano erupts later, I might leave immediately!" Ling Feng replied.
"Volcano?"
Xiang Zelan was taken aback, turning to look at the smoke-emanating summit: "You’re here for that?"
"What? Even folks from Country A-San have caught wind of it and sent people treasure hunting, yet you locals know nothing?" Ling Feng asked.
"No clue, what’s in the volcano?" Xiang Zelan asked.
Ling Feng smiled: "I can’t tell you that, if you want to know, you should ask your Great Deity!"
"..."
This left Xiang Zelan speechless, then she lowered her head.
Afterward, no further dialogue occurred between them; she sat cross-legged, closed her eyes, and began to meditate.
Seeing this, Ling Feng had no intention of further conversation, so he went back to the tent.
Just like that, time ticked by, and the sun gradually leaned westward.
As it approached dusk, Ling Feng and Sato Saori emerged from the tent and lit a campfire.
As the flames rose, Xiang Zelan opened her eyes: "Aren’t you afraid of revealing your location?"
"Not at all, I actually hope others see us, then it becomes simpler to ambush them here, isn’t that more convenient?" Ling Feng replied with a smile.
"..."
Xiang Zelan looked at him, bit her lip, her eyes reflecting some complexity.
Ling Feng didn’t concern himself with her, focused instead on preparing skewers for roasting meat.
