Chapter 1878: Chapter 1877: Eating

Ling Feng smiled, "Yes, very fast, right?"

"Indeed!"

Li Shiyun nodded, looking at the two stacks of resumes in front of her, noticing that the number of applicants not accepted clearly outweighed those who were, she sighed, "It seems like there aren’t many students with pure hearts anymore!"

"That’s already quite good!"

Ling Feng chuckled, then continued, "I originally thought only a few people would meet my criteria, but now there are over ten, so it’s quite a decent harvest!"

Then he stood up and said, "Let’s go, we’ll head to the next place. If we hurry, we can go back by noon!"

Li Shiyun laughed, "With your efficiency, the company’s recruitment can all be left to you from now on!"

"That won’t do, I’d be exhausted!"

Ling Feng chuckled, reaching out to wrap his arm around her waist.

The two left together, heading straight for the recruitment point at the second school.

As a result, at another renowned national university, Ling Feng only recruited eight people.

The rest either had impure intentions or were schemers at heart.

What’s more, some came with a bunch of awards and certificates, trying to prove their skills, but a quick sweep using the Mind Soul Art and Ling Feng discovered they weren’t patriotic and were dreaming of getting rich and emigrating overseas!

With such people, Ling Feng didn’t hold back, rejecting them on the spot without showing any kindness!

With twenty resumes in hand, the two left the school, not rushing back to the hotel but looking for a place to have lunch.

Capital City has many famous dishes, but Li Shiyun was still breastfeeding, so there were some things she couldn’t eat. Ling Feng looked around and finally decided on roast duck.

This dish is considered a well-known delicacy throughout Huaxia, with a history of hundreds of years.

Ling Feng hadn’t tried it before, and neither had Li Shiyun, so they took this opportunity to finally taste it.

After a half-hour ride, they arrived at the roast duck restaurant.

Contrary to expectations, the place wasn’t bustling and vibrant but felt rather quiet.

Even more so after entering, although it was midday, there weren’t many diners.

Ling Feng felt puzzled but didn’t ask much, following the waiter to a window seat.

Uncertain about how to order and what goes with roast duck, Ling Feng simply asked the waiter for recommendations and randomly selected some dishes.

While waiting for the dishes, Li Shiyun said, "Isn’t this place supposed to be a century-old establishment? Why does it feel so deserted?"

"Who knows, maybe we just came at the wrong time and today happens to be a slow day?"

Ling Feng shrugged, then said, "It’s also possible that the ducks nowadays aren’t as tasty as they used to be!"

"It’s possible."

Li Shiyun smiled, then said, "But for the two of us, no matter how well the duck is prepared, it probably won’t compare to what we eat every day!"

"That’s true, our palettes have been spoiled!" Ling Feng laughed.

While they were joking, the duck was brought out, a plate with slices of duck lined up, only occupying a third of the plate’s area.

The remaining space was either empty or decorated with lettuce leaves.

Seeing this, Ling Feng looked up in surprise at the waiter, "This is the duck priced at over two hundred?"

"It is!"

The waiter nodded, "Please enjoy!"

After speaking, he left expressionlessly.

Ling Feng was speechless, observing that there seemed to be dozens of slices, but they were all thinly cut, probably weighing less than a pound in total!

He then looked over at Li Shiyun, "It seems it’s not just a bad time we came; they probably don’t have many patrons anymore!"

"It seems so!"

Li Shiyun nodded, voicing her frustration, "Even if it’s a century-old store with a huge reputation, they can’t be this arrogant, right?"

"I don’t get it." 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶

Ling Feng shook his head, took a thin pancake spread with sauce, then wrapped two slices of duck and handed it to her.

Li Shiyun, curious, took a small bite and immediately frowned!

"What’s wrong?"

Ling Feng was a bit anxious, almost standing up.

"No big deal, just a bit smoky and the meat is dry." Li Shiyun said.

Upon hearing this, Ling Feng quickly wrapped one up himself and took a bite.

The duck was tough and really did have a bit of a smoky taste; it tasted odd!

He hurriedly spat it out and said to Li Shiyun, "Forget it, what I roast myself isn’t even this bad, let’s not eat it!"

"Alright."

Li Shiyun nodded and stood up with him.

Ling Feng didn’t want any trouble; being fooled was only a matter of a few hundred bucks, and he was about to settle the bill and leave.

Unexpectedly, upon mentioning it at the counter, the waiter immediately used the intercom to ask, found that the duck was barely touched, and told Ling Feng, "Sorry, we have a rule against waste. You’ve ordered the dish and haven’t eaten it, so you’ll have to pay extra!"

"Hm?"

Ling Feng looked stunned, asking in disbelief, "Why? If the taste isn’t good, can’t I just settle the bill?"

"You can pay, but there’s a penalty!" the waiter said.

"A penalty? You have the authority to impose fines? Who decided this?" Ling Feng asked angrily.

The waiter, seemingly accustomed to such situations, replied coolly, "Our boss decided."

"..."

Ling Feng was speechless, thinking to himself, ’What the heck is your boss?’

Already somewhat upset, this incident lit a small flame in his heart!

So, with a cold face, he said to the waiter, "Originally, I was going to pay and leave, but now that you want extra money, sorry, I won’t pay a cent!"

"Fine!"

The waiter still showed no emotion, picked up the intercom and pressed it until it buzzed, then said, "Security, we have someone trying to eat for free!"

Initially, Ling Feng didn’t take offense at the waiter, after all, they’re just employees.

But now, hearing this, a phrase popped into his mind: a dog relying on its owner’s power!

Witnessing their indifferent expressions and uninvolved attitudes, Ling Feng got angry!

However, he was aware the other person was just a regular person and couldn’t withstand even a finger of his, so he didn’t act rashly, just chuckling casually, "Alright, you’re calling security, huh? I’m curious how you’ll handle this!"

Just then, two burly men with black batons stormed in from the entrance, arrogantly asking, "Who’s trying to dine and dash?"

The waiter gestured towards Ling Feng, "Over there!"

Instinctively, Ling Feng stepped in front of Li Shiyun, then asked the other party, "What are you planning to do?"

"Kid, this establishment has been open for over a century and never met anyone daring to dine and dash. Either you pay now, or we beat you up; you won’t escape paying a dime!"

Ling Feng was thoroughly speechless, "Why don’t you go rob someone then?"
