The Grants: Choosing One Between The Two-Chapter 89: Summers and Ethan Look Too Alike
"Same to you." Ethan Grant showed no intention of letting go.
Since it’s all about manipulation, everyone’s doing it. How noble could he really be?
Henry Jennings frowned, still wanting to say something when the police entered the ward. "Mr. Jennings, please cooperate with our investigation into the incident of Jayden Grant hitting someone."
Henry Jennings glanced at Ethan Grant, his face dark.
Is Ethan Grant scheming against him too?
"President Jennings, the incident of Jayden hitting someone is quite serious. Yvette Aston certainly won’t agree to reconcile, given the injustice she suffered. I hope President Jennings will face the facts." Ethan Grant spoke softly.
Henry Jennings took a deep breath. Well, Ethan Grant truly deserved his reputation.
Jayden is a member of the Grant Family, Ethan Grant’s younger brother. For Ethan Grant to call the police and testify, it’s too obvious; Arthur Grant will surely be angry with him.
But if Henry Jennings testifies and exposes Jayden for hitting someone, it would be a different story.
Moreover, if he protected Jayden, Yvette would surely be more disappointed in him.
Ethan Grant was killing two birds with one stone, strategically well-planned.
"Summers, stay here with Mom. Dad will come later." Henry Jennings rubbed Summers’ head and crouched in front of him. "If anything happens, call Dad, okay?"
Summers nodded with teary eyes, cautiously looking back at Ethan Grant.
He wanted Ethan Grant to be his dad, but... his mom said Henry Jennings was his dad.
Feeling a bit sad, Summers lowered his head and said nothing.
Henry Jennings left Ben Ziegler behind to take care of Summers, then left with the police.
Ethan Grant could see Henry Jennings was intentional. He deliberately clarified his identity; no matter what he did, he couldn’t change the fact that he was Summers’ dad.
Between Yvette and Henry Jennings, there was the bond of Summers that Ethan Grant could never sever.
"Summers, do you have school tomorrow?" Ethan Grant quietly asked.
Summers cautiously approached Ethan Grant, his soft little hand tightly gripping the corner of his clothes.
Caden Summers and Christopher Carter were outside the ward, and inside were only Ethan Grant, Summers, and Yvette.
"Are you used to school?" Ethan Grant spoke again, extending his hand toward Summers.
Summers cried with grievance, threw himself into Ethan Grant’s arms, and dared not cry out loud.
Ethan Grant took a deep breath and rubbed Summers’ head.
"I don’t want to go to school..." Summers murmured, he liked being held by Ethan Grant; it felt very safe.
"Why?" Ethan Grant himself didn’t realize his voice could be so gentle.
"Because they fought, they said bad things about Mom." Summers stood with grievance, looking heartbreakingly pitiful.
Christopher Carter entered intending to say something, but upon seeing Summers standing with grievance before Ethan Grant, he was stunned for a moment.
So alike... Summers’ expression at this moment was so similar to Ethan Grant.
"But you can’t stop going to school, you’re about to graduate to elementary school; early education shouldn’t be neglected." Ethan Grant said with an educational tone, yet unusually gentle.
Summers wiped his tears and spoke softly. "I’m sorry..."
He couldn’t call him Dad, but he really wanted to call Ethan Grant Dad. "Summers got into a fight, the school doesn’t want Summers anymore."
Ethan Grant frowned, glancing at Christopher Carter. "Please look into that."
Christopher Carter quickly closed the ward door and went to make calls.
"Will Mom be okay?" Summers asked quietly, afraid of waking his mom.
"She will." Ethan Grant nodded.
"Uncle... thank you." Summers didn’t call him Dad this time.
Yet Ethan Grant felt a bit disappointed?
"Study hard, and thank me when you grow up." Ethan Grant set a goal for Summers.
Summers’ eyes lit up, nodding earnestly.
"Mr. Grant... The kindergarten mentioned that Summers hit Miss Grant’s son, Stephen Sinclair. But... I heard Michelle Lockwood from the Lockwood Family has already spoken to the kindergarten; they’re taking it seriously and said they’ll personally pick up Summers for school tomorrow morning." Christopher Carter looked at Ethan Grant, astonished.
What’s Yvette’s relationship with Michelle Lockwood?
Michelle Lockwood is famous in the circle as a little pepper; three years ago, she married a M Country businessman. Not long after, her husband died, leaving her to bring back a billion-dollar fortune as a woman returning to her country; she’s definitely a formidable character.
At the door, Caden Summers paused. "Michelle Lockwood? She’s my boss; I work as her bodyguard."
Christopher Carter opened his mouth, looking shocked. "You work as a bodyguard for Michelle Lockwood? You’re quite brave."
Indeed, skilled people are fearless.
It’s said Michelle Lockwood’s deceased husband was part of M Country’s gang; she brought back the inheritance to her homeland, naturally her husband’s family wouldn’t let her go, being Michelle Lockwood’s bodyguard truly makes one earn a living with their life.
Caden Summers said nothing else; after all, it’s the boss’s private matter, he didn’t want to pry.
But Michelle Lockwood... she even helped with the kindergarten situation.
"Did Chelsea Grant make things difficult for you?" Ethan Grant looked at Caden Summers.
Caden Summers nodded. "Mm, no kindergarten dared to take Summers, so I asked for my boss’s help."
Ethan Grant frowned. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
Why didn’t Yvette call him?
Was she afraid of bothering him?
Looking back at Yvette, Ethan Grant wondered how to make her fully relax and let her guard down.
"Take Summers home, he should go to sleep. Tomorrow morning, I’ll let Christopher Carter take him to school." Ethan Grant rubbed Summers’ head.
Summers looked back at his mom, nodding obediently.
If someone else asked him to go home, he definitely wouldn’t listen, but Ethan Grant’s words he would.
Caden Summers was also slightly surprised; Summers, though obedient, had a stubborn personality. With Yvette injured, he definitely wouldn’t want to leave; yet he actually agreed so obediently to Ethan Grant’s words.
"I’m here, your mom will be fine." Ethan Grant soothed once more.
Summers looked up at Ethan Grant, opened his mouth, and didn’t call out Dad, instead turned to run to Caden Summers’ side.
"With me here, you can rest assured. The Grants should come to trouble Yvette, during this time, stay low and don’t get involved." Ethan Grant kindly advised Caden Summers.
"Mr. Grant... my sister, and I, what can we do for you?" Caden Summers wasn’t someone who would owe favors, he also didn’t want Yvette to owe Ethan Grant too many favors.
"I won’t help you for no reason, but neither will I do anything despicable." Ethan Grant reassured Caden Summers.
Caden Summers took a deep breath, picked up Summers, and left.
Ethan Grant is not like Jayden Grant.
At least he wouldn’t force Yvette to do things she didn’t want to do.
As for other utilitarian values, as Yvette said, it’s mere mutual exploitation.
...
The next morning, Yvette slowly opened her eyes, glancing at the IV bag above with some bewilderment.
"Awake?"
On the sofa, Ethan Grant supported his head, frowning as he spoke.
Yvette nervously looked at Ethan Grant; did he actually keep watch here all night? "Mr... Mr. Grant."
"Shh!" Ethan Grant made a silencing gesture. "Jayden Grant was taken for investigation by the police; the Grants will arrive here soon. Whatever they say, do not respond."
Ethan Grant intended to protect Yvette.
Yvette nervously clenched her hands, evidently afraid.
Jayden Grant entered the police station, how could the Grants possibly let her off easily?
"Don’t be scared, I’m here." Ethan Grant stood by the bedside, reassuring Yvette.
Yvette’s eyes reddened, nodding.
But how long could Ethan Grant protect her?
