Chapter 77: Chapter 77: Did Yvette Aston Think Ethan Grant Wanted to Sleep With Her?

Yvette looked down, saying nothing.

"No wonder Melody Crowe wanted you dead six years ago," Ethan Grant laughed.

It’s truly fate.

Six years ago, when he returned home, he accidentally overheard Melody Crowe hiring someone to kill a woman named Yvette.

He originally wasn’t interested, but inexplicably didn’t want Melody Crowe to succeed, so he sent someone to save Yvette.

Thinking back now, it would’ve been a pity if he hadn’t meddled back then.

Yvette clenched her hands tightly, Melody Crowe must be very afraid of any entanglement between her and Ethan Grant.

The reason Jayden Grant hates her so much is partly due to Melody Crowe’s inescapable responsibility.

"Why didn’t you call Henry Jennings last night?" Ethan Grant asked.

Yvette lowered her head, timidly clutching her fingers. "He... has a fiancée."

Henry Jennings refused to break off the engagement.

This is why she no longer chose Henry Jennings.

"Oh? You actually have principles, not being the third wheel?" Ethan Grant asked with interest.

"If Mr. Grant plans to get engaged, please let me know in advance, and I’ll leave on my own." Yvette wasn’t naive enough to believe Ethan Grant wanted her forever.

He might just have a temporary interest in her.

Ethan Grant looked at Yvette, saying nothing for a long time.

After a moment of silence, Ethan Grant walked out of the restroom. "If your body can handle it, we’ll return to Meridia today."

The Bell Family is all in Montville, if Yvette doesn’t drop the case, Claudia Bell will have to stay in there.

"I’ll handle the police side, just follow me." There’s nothing else you need to worry about.

Yvette followed behind Ethan Grant dumbfounded, feeling an inexplicable sense of peace.

She believed Ethan Grant could handle everything.

...

On the way back to Meridia, Yvette used a new phone to message Holly Ziegler, telling her she was leaving, Montville wasn’t safe.

Holly only told her to be safe without saying anything else.

Looking at the heavy phone in her hand, Yvette felt a bit dazed.

The phone that Henry Jennings bought her was also new, it was a bit of a pity to lose it, it was nearly ten thousand bucks.

Ethan Grant was resting with his eyes closed, quietly leaning back in the seat.

Yvette stole a glance at him, this man... how could he be so perfect, without any flaws.

Quickly averting her gaze, Yvette looked out the car window.

Raising her hand to feel the afterglow of the sunset, Yvette slowly closed her eyes.

Finally, she took that step forward.

Her body was too weak, Yvette slept through the entire journey.

Probably out of concern for Yvette’s health, Ethan Grant preferred to endure the hardship of taking a private car back, rather than flying. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

Of course, the most exhausted was Christopher Carter, as an assistant and driver, he drove for six hours on the highway with only a 30-minute break.

Giving a resentful glance at the rearview mirror, Christopher almost pressed the gas pedal thinking it was the brake.

Yvette leaned against the car window in a deep sleep, and Ethan Grant, fearing she might hit her head, expressionlessly offered his arm for her to rest on.

Taking a deep breath, Christopher’s gaze was somewhat complex.

From what Christopher knew of Ethan Grant, he actually seemed genuinely interested in Yvette.

It seemed Mr. Grant was really inviting trouble this time.

Sighing slowly, Christopher pondered internally on how he could help Ethan Grant reduce the trouble.

But Yvette herself was a big trouble, whether it was her identity as Jayden Grant’s ex-fiancée or the Aston Family’s fake eldest daughter, or... the woman almost every second-generation in Meridia had bullied and humiliated.

In a daze, not knowing how long she slept, Yvette had a dream, a long, long dream.

In the dream, she fell into a bottomless abyss, unable to breathe, unable to cry for help.

Until a hand grabbed her, forcibly pulling her above the water.

"No!"

Suddenly waking with a start, Yvette’s breathing was rapid.

She didn’t know when the car had stopped, finding herself lying across the entire backseat, covered by Ethan Grant’s coat.

"Mr... Mr. Grant?" Yvette asked nervously.

Christopher frowned slightly and spoke softly. "Mr. Grant went back to his place, he asked me to bring you back."

Yvette looked out the car window, only to realize it was Caden Summers’ repair shop.

Nervously clenching her hands, she was a bit scared, afraid that Ethan Grant would abandon her, as she couldn’t do without a pillar now. "Did Mr. Grant... say anything else?"

"He told you to get a good rest." Christopher said, getting out to open the door for Yvette.

Yvette’s body trembled as she clenched the hem of her dress, speaking with extreme humiliation. "I... I want to see him."

She knew, to tightly hold onto Ethan Grant as her tree of support, she had to be a bit shameless.

"Miss Aston, you yourself are a big trouble, hopefully, you have enough self-awareness to avoid letting anyone know about your relationship with Mr. Grant, unless Mr. Grant needs to use you as a shield." Christopher reminded Yvette.

Yvette’s clenched hands slowly loosened, sighing in relief, fortunately, Ethan Grant hadn’t given up on her.

At least, she still had some value.

"Mr. Grant wants you to spend quality time with Summers, don’t worry about anything else, he will handle it. I’ll come get you when your presence is needed." Christopher ushered Yvette out and handed her a cup of red date ginger tea. "Mr. Grant asked me to buy this for you."

Holding the cup of hot tea, Yvette breathed out in a daze. "Wasn’t I supposed to be his mistress?"

Did she really not need to do anything? Just stay by the family, without giving anything in return?

Christopher gave Yvette a once-over, immediately realizing her misunderstanding. "You think our Mr. Grant wants to sleep with you?"

Yvette’s ears turned red with shame, she lowered her head, biting her lip without saying a word.

"Our Mr. Grant is a germaphobe, he helps you because you have your value, but it’s definitely not some sordid transaction between a man and woman." Christopher said disdainfully, getting back into the car.

Did she really think their Mr. Grant was like those second-generation rich kids who only think with their lower halves?

Yvette’s reputation in Meridia was almost ruined; even if Christopher didn’t believe her promiscuous private life, it was a fact she had a child.

There was no way Mr. Grant would have that kind of desire for Yvette.

At most, he was just interested in her as a person.

Yvette instinctively stepped back, lowering her head self-consciously, not speaking.

Ethan Grant being a germaphobe, likely found her filthy.

It made sense, after all, she had even given birth to an outsider’s child, and the rumors about her in Meridia were incredibly scandalous; no one would believe she was clean.

But just waiting and doing nothing made her anxious.

For Summers, she couldn’t just sit and do nothing.

"Yvette?"

Hearing a car outside, Caden Summers came out from a small house, surprised. "You’re back!"

Yvette snapped back to reality, nervously looking at Caden Summers.

Seeing his arm bandaged, she hurried over, alarmed. "Brother, your arm."

"It’s nothing, I’m working as a bodyguard for the Lockwood Family, took a knife for the boss." Caden Summers smiled a bit foolishly. "Why are you back so late, did you sneak back?"

Taking Yvette inside, Caden Summers looked around. "I heard people from the Bell Family are also looking for you, and some people wanted to take Summers away from the kindergarten."

Caden Summers knew Yvette got into trouble in Montville.

"Uh... Claudia Bell hit me, I called the police, the forensic report showed permanent damage to my left ear, it’s a criminal offense." Yvette whispered.

If she didn’t back down this time, Claudia Bell would have to stay inside for a while.

Even though it wouldn’t be long, it would be enough to make the Bell Family hate her deeply.

But it was Claudia Bell who did something wrong in the first place.

Caden Summers’ expression was unpleasant, he also saw the video of Yvette being bullied online. "They want you to drop the case?"

Yvette nodded.

"We won’t drop it, and we won’t settle privately." Caden Summers quickly packed up his things. "At worst, I’ll take you away from Meridia, take Summers, and go hide in another city; the Bell Family can’t possibly have control everywhere."

Outside, the light from car headlights streamed in through the window.

Yvette was scared, hiding in the corner. "Brother... did they find us?"

How did they find us so quickly?

Caden Summers reassured Yvette and went out alone.

A black sedan stopped outside; a man got out, his voice anxious. "Is Yvette... back?"
