Chapter 520: 520

As soon as he pulled out the token the Demi-God raised both hands high.

"Listen well," he shouted, his voice carrying across the capital. "All abyssal monsters, lay everything to waste."

The world answered him.

The ground churned violently. The streets of the capital split open as if something was clawing its way out from beneath. Stone shattered, buildings collapsed, and a deep, rumbling roar rose from every direction.

Within seconds, the entire capital trembled.

In a wide radius around the palace, thousands of nefarious eyes burst open from the ground. Blackened flesh followed, twisted limbs forcing their way out as monstrous bodies erupted from beneath the streets. These were not summoned creatures alone. Many still carried fragments of armor, torn uniforms, and broken weapons.

They screamed as they emerged.

Some roared.

Some cried.

All of them ran.

An endless tide of abyssal monsters surged toward the palace, trampling everything in their path. Towers collapsed as they passed. Roads vanished under their feet. The capital turned into a living hell.

Ramos clenched his jaw and raised his arm.

"Enough."

SWISHHH!

A massive body of water surged into the air, spiraling and condensing into a towering blade. It roared forward, cutting through the air toward the approaching horde, ready to sweep them away in one devastating strike.

But before it could land, two violent forces slammed into it from opposite sides.

BOOOOM!

The water blade shattered into countless droplets, exploding outward in a deafening rebound. The shockwave sent Ramos sliding backward, his boots carving deep lines into the shattered ground.

His eyes widened.

Portals opened in the air.

One.

Then another.

From them stepped two figures, their presence crushing, their auras heavy enough to bend the air around them.

"Another two..." Ramos muttered, his voice low and tense.

A dreadful laughter followed.

"Kekekkekeke..."

The laughter echoed unnaturally, overlapping itself, making the ruins vibrate.

"Nice to finally meet you, Ramos Veydrin," one of them said, smiling coldly. "I am Azeth, the Sect Master of the Abyssal Sect."

He gestured lazily to the others.

"This is Eroju. And the one you were just fighting is Arim."

Azeth spread his arms wide, as if welcoming an audience.

"Today, we will bury you and everyone alongside you," he said calmly. "Nightstar will become a perfect utopia of the Abyss."

"Hahahahaha!"

As his laughter rang out, a dreadful and chilling intent spread across the land. The capital of Nightstar shook violently. Entire sections of the city collapsed. Towers fell. The ground split open again and again.

BOOM!

RUMBLE!

From the ruined palace, Kael staggered slightly as the wave of intent washed over him. His body was still adjusting. The power he had devoured from Adele had finally pushed him through.

SSS rank.

But there was no time to feel joy.

He snapped his head toward the city, and his eyes widened in horror.

A massive tide of abyssal beasts was charging toward them.

"What the fuck... what the actual fuck..." Kael roared, his voice filled with shock and disbelief.

Then realization hit him like a hammer.

Since entering the capital, they had barely felt any normal life force. Everything had felt wrong, tainted, corrupted.

"Fuck..." Kael muttered. "That means everyone was already sacrificed and turned into abyssal monsters."

The creatures they had fought earlier were not just summoned beasts.

They had been Imperial troops.

Citizens.

People.

And yet— 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

"Ahhhh!"

"Save us!"

"What is this?!"

From the shattered streets, remnants of human Imperial troops screamed in panic. Some were still human, half-buried under rubble, crawling and begging. Others were crushed as the ground shifted beneath them, bulldozed by emerging monsters and collapsing structures.

Kael froze for a split second.

Why were there still humans?

Rein stood in the middle of the shattered hall, his chest heaving as the capital collapsed around him. The sky outside burned red and black, and the roars of abyssal monsters echoed without end. For the first time since he had taken the throne, fear truly crept into his bones.

"What’s going on?" Rein screamed, his voice cracking as he turned wildly from side to side.

"What the hell is going on!"

His eyes locked onto the figures of the Abyssal Sect in the distance, and his face twisted in fury.

"I didn’t agree to this!" he roared. "I never agreed to this!"

His mana flared out of control, shattering what remained of the marble floor beneath his feet.

"How dare you disobey me!" Rein shouted, veins bulging across his neck. "You bastards! I will kill you! I will kill all of you!"

His words were drowned out by the chaos. The Abyssal Sect did not even spare him a glance. That indifference broke something inside him.

Before he could scream again, a sharp impact struck his side.

BOOM!

Rein’s body flew across the hall as Martina slammed her foot into him with ruthless force. He crashed into broken pillars, rolled across the rubble, and finally stopped in a heap, coughing blood.

Martina stepped forward slowly, her sword resting loosely at her side. Her eyes were cold, and her expression carried nothing but disgust.

"Who the fuck do you think you are?" she said sharply.

Rein struggled to push himself up, his hands trembling.

"Did you really think you were a king who rose by conquering people’s hearts?" Martina continued, her voice steady but cutting deep. "You are nothing but a parasite who feeds on others."

Those words hit harder than her kick.

Rein’s mind went blank.

His eyes widened, and his breathing became erratic. His lips trembled as he stared at her, unable to process what he had just heard.

"You..." he muttered hoarsely. "What did you say?"

His mana surged again, uncontrolled and violent.

"How are you..." Rein stammered. "I am the king. I am the king!"

His voice rose into a hy6sterical scream.

"I snatched it with my own power!" he shouted. "With my own hands!"

Martina stared at him for a moment, then suddenly burst out laughing.

"Hahahahahah!"

Her laughter echoed through the ruined hall, sharp and merciless.

"You got this with your own power?" she mocked. "Who are you kidding?"

Rein clutched his head and screamed.

"No! No!" he yelled. "You’re lying! You’re all lying!"

His mind snapped.

Wild magic erupted from his body in every direction. Blades of dark energy tore through the air at random. Explosions burst against the walls and ceiling, sending debris crashing down. Rein fired spell after spell without aim or control, like a madman lashing out at shadows.

"I am the king!" he screamed again and again. "I am the king! I will become Emperor! I will become Emperor!"

Martina stepped aside calmly as a blast passed where her head had been a moment before. She clicked her tongue in annoyance.

"What a lousy mind," she said quietly.

Just then, she felt it.

A presence.

Her eyes snapped forward.

Through the storm of wild magic, a figure burst straight through Rein’s attacks. Spells shattered on contact, torn apart by overwhelming force. A blinding red light cut through the chaos, heading straight for Rein.

Rein saw it.

His pupils shrank, and pure terror overtook his madness.

"No!" he screamed. "You can’t kill me! No! You can’t!"

He stumbled backward, trying to crawl away.

"I am the king!" Rein cried desperately. "I will become Emperor!"

The red light closed in.

A cold voice answered him from within it.

"You want to be an Emperor?" the voice said. "You can become one in hell."

Rein’s scream was swallowed by the light as it crashed into him, ending his delusion in a single, brutal instant.
