Chapter 495: 495

BANG! BANG! BANG!

Two horrifying clashes erupted at the same time, shaking the land like the roar of angry gods.

"You can’t win this... kekekekk!"

The SSS-rank dark priest laughed madly, his voice dripping with malice."The eastern part of Heizen is finished."

"In your dreams," Duke Serpentine snorted coldly.

He raised his sword and unleashed his power.

Lightning tore across the sky like raging dragons. Countless beams of blinding light shot out one after another in rapid succession, ripping through the air and striking the ground with deafening explosions. The very clouds above were torn apart, and the air screamed as it was split open.

The dark priest slammed his staff into the ground.

"Umbra Aegis: Void Curtain!"

A massive wall of dark magic rose instantly, swirling like a storm of black mist. The lightning beams crashed into it and exploded, sending shockwaves in every direction. The ground cracked, and nearby cliffs shattered, massive chunks of stone falling and turning to dust before they even hit the ground.

The dark priest grinned and raised his hand.

"Nether Ruin: Abyssal Surge!"

A wave of black fire and corrupted mana surged forward, devouring everything in its path. Trees were erased, rocks melted, and the land was scorched into a lifeless wasteland.

Duke Serpentine narrowed his eyes.

He stepped forward and swung his sword in a clean arc.

CLANG!

The spell was cut apart mid-air, split neatly as if sliced by an invisible blade. The remaining energy exploded harmlessly to the sides.

"So slow," Duke Serpentine muttered.

He vanished.

In the next instant, he reappeared above the dark priest and brought his sword down with terrifying force.

BOOOOOOM!

The impact shattered the mountain cliff behind them. Stone collapsed, entire ridges crumbling and sliding down in roaring avalanches. The shockwave flattened everything nearby, leaving nothing but ruin.

The dark priest was thrown back violently, smashing through layers of rock before barely stabilizing himself mid-air.

"You arrogant fool!" the dark priest roared.

He tried to cast another spell, but Duke Serpentine was already moving again. His sword glowed brighter, lightning and aura fusing together into a single overwhelming force.

He struck again.

This time, the blow landed cleanly.

The dark priest screamed as his defensive magic shattered. His body was slammed into the ground, carving a massive crater that swallowed him completely.

Dust and smoke filled the sky.The Dark Priest tried to protect itself however before that a blade wheezed past his ear making him scream.

"Noooooooooo!’’

...

Inside the city, chaos reigned.

Melvin stood atop broken rubble, shouting at the top of his lungs.

"Fire! Pick up everything you’ve got and fire it!"

"Don’t leave anything behind!"

He turned toward his spiritual beast and roared, "Emo! Fire in the hole!"

The seven-headed serpent responded instantly.

Each head opened its jaws, and blazing energy blasts shot out one after another. Entire buildings exploded, walls collapsed, and enemy positions were wiped out in violent flashes of light.

The city had turned into a battlefield of pure destruction.

Gunfire echoed nonstop.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

Heizen soldiers fired from behind cover, using captured weapons and broken walls. Nightstar forces returned fire from windows, rooftops, and shattered towers. Bullets flew, magic detonated, and screams filled the air.

"Reload!"

"Cover the left side!"

"Medic! Someone help him!"

Smoke burned the eyes, and the ground was slick with blood. The evening sky slowly darkened, flames lighting up the streets like hellish torches.

Melvin scanned the battlefield, directing troops and adjusting formations. His expression was tight, focused, but worry crept into his eyes.

Then he saw a figure leaping across broken buildings, moving fast.

The figure landed near him with a heavy thud.

Melvin turned sharply. "What happened?"

"Is there trouble?"

He looked around quickly and frowned. "Where is Kael?"

The figure clenched their fists and answered grimly.

"He’s inside, holding things back."

Melvin’s eyes widened slightly.

"I think we need to gather additional forces and push in," the figure continued."The situation inside is troublesome."

Melvin inhaled deeply and looked back at the burning city.

"...Understood," he said quietly.

He tightened his grip and raised his voice again.

"All units, regroup!"

"We’re pushing forward. No hesitation!"

.......

"Arghhhhh!"

"Kyahahhh!"

Ryan’s scream tore across the ritual chamber. His body convulsed violently as he tried to struggle, but his strength drained away as if something unseen was sucking it out of him. His knees buckled, and his breathing turned ragged.

He forced his mana to circulate, trying desperately to cut whatever was binding him. The moment he did, a tearing strain assaulted his body. The pain slammed into him so hard that the air was knocked out of his lungs. It felt as if something was clawing at his very soul, ripping it out piece by piece.

"W-What are you doing?" he hissed, his voice broken and hoarse as he looked at Randulo. "Stop... stop this..."

Randulo did not even look at him with pity.

"Sorry," Randulo said calmly, almost bored. "It seems we can’t get that kid after all, so I’m going to use you as the stabilizer."

Ryan’s eyes widened in horror. "But... we didn’t agree to this!"

"Shut up and do your job," Randulo snapped.

The next moment, several dark masses burst out from the ritual circle. Black, writhing tentacles shot forward and pierced Ryan’s body from all directions. Flesh tore apart. Bones cracked. Blood splattered across the ground.

What followed was a brutal, inhuman scream.

....

Inside the core zone, Kael pushed forward through a swarm of mages and abyssal monsters that crawled over one another to reach him. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

"Get the fuck off, you nasty bitches!" he roared.

He slammed into them with pure force, his sword flashing again and again. A deafening explosion followed.

BANGGG!

Lightning surged along the blade as dozens of sword arcs were released at once. They tore through bodies, walls, and pillars, sending blood and debris flying in every direction.

Then Kael froze.

His eyes locked onto the ritual circle.

"No... I can’t go on like this," he muttered.

He tightened his grip on his sword and leaned forward, his shoulders rising and falling as he took a deep breath. Crimson lightning began to flare violently from his body, crawling over his skin like living veins. Darkness swirled around him, thick and heavy.

For a brief moment, the world seemed to pause.

Then Kael’s body blurred.

In the next instant, a world-rending slash tore through the air. There was no sound at first, only a sharp distortion, as if reality itself had been cut open.

The invisible barricade protecting the ritual was sliced apart like paper, vanishing into nothingness.

Randulo’s eyes widened in pure horror.

He could not understand what he had just seen.

"Wh-What?" he gasped.

The protective barrier was gone.

Kael was about to step forward when—

CRACKLEEEEE!

A sound like shattering glass echoed across the sky.

Kael’s eyes constricted as he looked up. A massive broken passage had appeared above the ritual site. The sky itself looked torn apart, revealing a dark, endless void beyond.

"Fuck!" Kael cursed and slammed his foot into the ground.
