The Founder of Qi Cultivation, Reincarnates?-Chapter 404 401- Let Me Do This… (2)
While the battle was raging on near the second wall, everyone had taken notice of Wu Kai's blue flames. The more powerful cultivators on the battlefield came to examine them.
"W-What are these blue flames? Is it an innate ability of a Sea Beast?"
"No! I saw someone fall from the wall, it looked like Wu Kai!"
Hearing this, one Borderner in the air gritted his teeth and said with hatred.
"This fucking bastard. I knew he was going to bring disaster to our border with that dirty blood of his! I'll kill him myself if no one is going to do it."
Eyes gleaming with murderous intent, that Borderner flew towards Wu Kai's floating body.
Just as Shi Lei had predicted, they immediately decided to kill Wu Kai.
"What?! No! What are you doing?! Aren't you afraid of Wu Kai's Master, General Chun?!"
"In this situation where so many people might die because of this brat, do you think it's the time to consider who his Master is?"
"Bastard!"
However, from the looks of it, there were a few Borderners who were opposed to killing Wu Kai.
But their cultivations weren't sufficient to stop this man who was in the Nascent Soul realm. Although he was a weak Nascent Soul Realm having been only able to transform 4/5 of his soul into a Nascent Soul, someone with 4/5 of the Nascent Soul Realm power was still a powerhouse.
His speed was fast as he flew over the blue flames to approach where Wu Kai's body was floating in the water.
A water barrier made from strong Laws of Water was conjured around him to block out these flames, however, something was strange.
The man was still feeling the heat from the flames.
"Wh-What's with these flames?"
The man increased the strength of his barrier but he was still feeling the heat of the flames. It was even increasing the closer he got to Wu Kai.
"Ugh!"
It reach a point where the man had to pause, but as soon as he paused the blue flames that were dancing on the surface of the water reacted to his still presence.
With a mind of their own, they sprang toward him. As if his barrier didn't exist, the blue flames passed through it and cover the man.
"W-What?!"
The man was surprised but that wasn't even the end of it.
"AHHHH!!!"
The man released a blood-curdling scream as he thrashed around, scratching and clawing at his face. f𝙧𝒆𝚎𝑤e𝚋𝓷o𝘷𝗲l.c𝐨m
"No! Get away! Get away! Stop!"
The man screamed as his nails drew blood trails across his face, resulting in a gruesome sight. He tried to teleport away, but he was too late the blue flames already engulfed his entire figure. They burn even brighter on the man than when they were in the water, it's like they had been doused with gasoline.
After half a breath's worth of time the screams of the man suddenly stopped before his lifeless body fell into the sea; swallowed up by the blue flames.
The people nearby who were watching this had their faces go pale and their scalps tingle.
What did they just witness? A mighty Nascent Soul Realm cultivator dying just like that? The flames aren't even burning his clothes so how did he die?
Suddenly a shout echoed out.
"Everyone move back! Those blue flames can burn your soul and life essence! Don't let even a spark of it land on you or else you'd end up like that fool!"
The people who were closer to the blue flames heard this and their hearts skipped a beat before they quickly retreated.
"These blue flames are too terrifying! What are we going to do? With this speed, we might be able to escape but the lower-level cultivators would be killed. And we can't rescue all of them at once."
Everyone began to panic upon realizing the situation was more disastrous than they could imagine.
However, it was at that time the second wall began to shine with a golden light.
Everyone covered their eyes due to the brightness. When they were finally able to open them they were greeted by an old man standing on the surface of the water.
The blue flames that just eagerly killed a Nascent Soul Realm cultivator were avoiding him.
"Who-?"
One Borderner was about to ask the old man's identity, but a voice suddenly echoed out.
"Greetings to the Border Guarding!"
The people who didn't know the old man's identity felt a tremble run through their bodies before they quickly followed suit and gave greetings to this old man. 𝑓re𝘦𝔀𝗲𝘣𝘯𝘰νℯ𝒍.c𝗼m
With ordinary gray robes, a balled head and hunched back. This old man that looked like a monk that just exited self-isolation was the Southern Border Guarding.
He wasted no time after appearing and took a step and appeared next to Wu Kai's body.
"Hm?"
Old man South Border had to pause as the blue flames on Wu Kai's body were starting to resist his Natural Suppression.
Natural Suppression was an innate ability one gained upon entering the Soul Transformation Realm. Once one enters the Soul Transformation Realm their soul would go through a fundamental change, becoming something of higher existence.
It was due to this change that Soul Transformation Realm cultivators had the innate ability to exert Natural Suppression on lesser existences. And it wasn't only limited to other human cultivators but all types of existence under the heaven.
Even Laws themselves, though this is an evolved form of Natural Suppression where the ability becomes a law. Only those at the pinnacle of the Soul Transformation Realm could use it.
It was called Law of Natural Suppression.
Old man South Border decided to use Law of Natural Suppression, with this the blue flames could no longer resist and were forced to retreat back into Wu Kai.
After losing their source the blue flames dancing on the surface of the water slowly faded away.
Old man South Border then placed his hand on Wu Kai's chest. After which a blinding golden light emanated from his palm that envelop Wu Kai's body.
Inside this golden light, faint outlines of chains could be seen that wrapped around Wu Kai to eventually tighten and then seeped into his body.
A breath's worth of time later, the golden light from old man South Border's palm faded away to be replaced with teleportation fluctuations. Wu Kai's body was then teleported away to reappear on the wall next to Shi Lei.
Shi Lei had been nervous this whole time, but seeing Wu Kai okay and alive in front of him a wave of relief washed over him. He didn't hesitate to quickly kneel down and check on him.
"Unfortunately, even I am not able to fix the imbalance of power in him, they are too intertwined. I could only seal a portion of his Sea Beast bloodline so a situation like this never happens again. But this is only a temporary solution, his Innate Flames had increased drastically so it's only a matter of time until the seal weakens and he'll lose control like before."
*Clench*
"T-Then what should I do elder? Third uncle is dead and my father won't always be watching over Wu Kai as third uncle did. I-I don't have the strength to help him when the seal weakens."
"…I saw that a portion of the imbalance was fixed somehow, how was that possible?"
"???"
Shi Lei was at first confused, but then he remembered Jun.
"Elder, it was someone from the Mainland who help Wu Kai. But he said he wasn't strong enough to fully fix it."
Old man South Border turned to look at the dark horizon when he heard Shi Lei's words. To his immediately left the sun only had just set fully.
He was looking at the direction the Mercenary Association's carrier ship had left in.
*Sigh*
Old man South Border couldn't help but sigh.
He had speculated that the person who had helped Wu Kai was too weak to fully resolve the imbalance. He was going to suggest Shi Lei seek this person's help in the future, and in the meantime, he would continue to strengthen the seal until this person could resolve the imbalance.
However, that person was on the ship that left.
'Is this a sign my decision was wrong?'
Old man South Border had to really ponder if this was the case.
He had been cautious about making a move unless it was absolutely necessary.
Not many people know this but the wall was split into four sections of power that each Border Guardian has at their disposal.
He was the strongest Border Guardian because his section of power was larger than the others.
But in the last few years, he had been getting an uneasy feeling that caused him to start conserving his strength. He thought it was due to the Sea King's threat but he came to realize it was something else; something that was far more threatening in nature was approaching.
This feeling of a disaster was increasing as the years go by, and he could feel it was some time before it occur. However, with the sudden appearance of that sword energy and that terrifying aura out at sea that followed, the sense of disaster suddenly jump closer, as if he was moments away from coming face to face with it.
So old man South Border was reluctant to make a move and use up his power, saving every scrap of it. Even to the point he was unwilling to help Wu Kai before.
He knew that the Sea King had attacked the Mercenary Association ship, but he didn't act. But because of this one of his Generals was killed.
Could he really continue to be so indecisive in this situation? Instead of worrying about a threat that was to come, he should have been focused on the one right in front of him.
Old man South Border waved his hand towards the wall.
Boldly sprawled across the wall for all to see was the number 12,111,367,299 210, which was increasing by the second.
Under it were the names of practically everyone here at the Southern Border, and next to their names was their lifetime kill count of Sea Beasts.
These names were separated into two large sections, the names that glowed with golden light and the names that were dull.
These two sections were further divided into the cultivation realms in the Five Soul Realms. The most important of these sections in any given generation were the Sea Expansion Realm, the Foundation Realm, and the Core Formation Realm, but the focus was on the Soul Transformation Realm section at the moment.
The information Shi Chun had told Yang Su and the others, that there were nine Soul Transformation Realm cultivators spread across the four borders did not include the recently promoted ones in the past decade.
There were actually fourteen, each border gaining one more while the Southern Border gained an additional two.
Among the five names in the Soul Transformation Realm section on the wall, Shi Chun's name which was dull suddenly disappeared and reappeared on the second half of the wall.
His name then began to shine with a dazzling golden light accompanied by bell chimes that rang for everyone on the battlefield to hear.
When the younger generation heard these bell chimes they were confused, but when the older generation heard it they became shocked.
Numerous eyes shot towards Shi Chun's name which was glowing golden for one last time before it became the only dull name in that section.
"N-No way! A General died!"
"It's General Chun! But wasn't he suppose to be escorting the Mainlanders, how the hell is he dead?!"
"I-Is this some mistake? It must be a mistake."
Immediate pandemonium occurred across the battlefield as Borderners voiced their shock and skepticism.
Their Southern Border had never lost a General before, but the other borders have and bell chimes would ring out when they died.
*Grit*
"This isn't a mistake, General Chun had been killed somehow!"
A somewhat old man that looked emaciated said with gritted teeth. His eyes filled with rage then glared down at the Sea Beasts in the water.
"Fucking bastard the lot of you!!"
The emaciated old man roared out in anger before diving into the water, seeming to be on a suicide mission.
But similar scenes played out across the battlefield.
"Let's send off General Chun by killing these bastards!! AHHHH!!!"
Mad howls like these also echoed out. In their own way, these Borderners were honoring Shi Chun's death.
Where the battle between the Rank 4 Sea Beasts and Shi Meng was happening, earth-shattering explosions erupted in the sea.
One could see Shi Meng fighting the three Nascent-level Sea Beasts with a frighteningly calm expression. However, even though his face was calm the festering rage in his heart as well as the murderous aura around his body as he attack ferociously told a different story.
