Chapter 65: You Are Still In Love With Their Father

"Who is ready for a sumptuous meal?" Director Wyatt tactfully offered in an attempt to lighten up the atmosphere.

At the sound of a meal, Eleanor’s gloomy face lit up.

"Grandpa, why did it take you so long to know that I’ve been hungry."

Elvis: "..."

Kathleen: "..."

Was she not the one advocating for a father just a while ago?

"Take us to the Masters Place." Kathleen told the driver.

The driver who had been driving slowly increased his speed after knowing the next destination.

To dine there, one has to book at least a day ahead but with the Wyatt’s connection, they had a special privilege of dining there anytime of the day without having to make reservations.

The previous incident seemed to have been forgotten as the children chatted excitedly during the meal.

They were almost through with their meal when Kathleen received a call from the hospital that everything was set for the journey.

After leaving the hospital they headed straight for the airport.

It was finally time for Director Wyatt to return to Luxembourg.

The children were not willing to part with their grandfather when they got to the airport.

It was only after their grandfather reminded them that he will be back with their grandmother by the weekend that they said goodbye, howbeit, reluctantly.

When they got to Fairview Villa, Kathleen went straight to her room after asking Mrs Carr to keep an eye on the children.

Elvis and Eleanor stared after her with complicated looks as she ascended the stairs.

"Mummy is not looking good. Do you think she is mad at us?" Eleanor whispered, a frown creeping onto her cute little face. She regretted bringing up the issue of their father’s identity.

"What are you thinking?" Elvis tried to dissuade his sister from blaming herself. "Mummy is not angry with us."

He took her hand and led her to the hammock specifically prepared for them in the garden. That was their personal space when they needed some "alone time".

He helped Eleanor onto one of the hammocks while saying "Maybe she is sad about daddy. She never told us who he is or what happened to him."

Eleanor balanced herself after sitting down. "We shouldn’t have spoken about daddy. But I couldn’t help it, brother."

"I also want to know who our father is. But I have no idea how to go about it." Elvis finally admitted.

"If mummy doesn’t want us to know, then it will be difficult to find out," Eleanor expressed her fears.

Elvis pursed his lips and held his chin for a few seconds. "Let’s wait for mummy’s friend that is arriving next week. She might know something about our daddy."

"But how do we get her to talk about it?"

"Leave it to me. I’ll surely find a way."

Meanwhile, Kathleen, who was upstairs has changed position several times since she came to her room.

She has been thinking of the conversation she had with her father as he boarded the plane.

He had asked her to accompany him to the tarmac where his private plane was parked under the pretext of ensuring that the blood is properly placed in the best position on the plane.

"What is your plan?" He asked as soon as they were alone.

Kathleen knew her father was referring to the incident in the car.

"I don’t know, dad. I thought I could handle anything when it comes to their father’s identity but found out today that I wasn’t ready."

Director Wyatt’s gaze was full of sympathy.

"You understand that you can’t keep putting this off. Sooner or later, they’ll have to know who their father is and the earlier ou tell them, the better."

Director Wyatt was very concerned about this matter. Maybe he was speaking from a man’s perspective or from the perspective of a father who has experienced what it means to be separated from a child for over twenty years.

"But they don’t need him, dad. They have everything and don’t lack anything. What is he going to be doing in their life?" Her reluctance was evident in the way she presented her argument.

Director Robin’s head shook from side to side. "No my dear, you’ve got it wrong there. You saw what happened today. As the children grow, situations like this will continue to come up, besides they have a right to know who their father is."

"He doesn’t even know they exist. I might as well tell them he is dead."

"That will be wrong again, my dear," Director Wyatt reproved and exhaled deeply.

"How will you explain it to them in the future when they find out you lied to them? Especially Elvis. You know his stance on integrity. You taught him that and I don’t need to remind you."

"Maybe it’s not the right time to tell them," Kathleen was looking for any form of excuse to postpone the evil day, but her father always had a ready answer for each one she brought up.

"What better time than now. Why the delay? What are you even scared of?"

"I’m not scared, dad. Why should I be scared?" She raised her chin and struck a confident pose, but her father saw right through her.

"It is either of two possibilities. It’s either you are scared of him asking for custody when he gets to know of the children’s existence or..."

"He wouldn’t dare!" Kathleen’s eyes sparkled without warning. "I brought them up myself and besides, he doesn’t have the guts to go against Wyatt Corporations."

"But he doesn’t know you are my daughter. Or does he know you have something to do with Wyatt’s Corporations?"

"I don’t think he knows I am connected to Wyatt’s corps but he saw me with Jason on one occasion. He doesn’t know now but he will find out sooner or later. What’s the second possibility?"

With eyes that looked as if they could see right into Kathleen’s thoughts, Director Wyatt declared, "You are still in love with their father and you’re afraid they will..."
