Chapter 299: Mysterious Wedding Crasher

As the soft morning light filtered through the curtains, Lauren stirred from her slumber, her heart fluttering with excitement and nerves.

Today was the day she had dreamt of since she was a little girl – her wedding day. With a contented sigh, she opened her eyes, greeted by the warmth of the sun’s gentle embrace.

Sitting up in bed, Lauren took a moment to savor the quiet stillness of this special morning.

She could hear the faint chirping of birds outside her window, a soothing melody that seemed to herald the beginning of a new Chapter in her life.

With a smile playing on her lips, she swung her legs over the edge of the bed and stepped into her bathroom and filled the tub with warm water.

As she lowered herself into the fragrant bubbles, she closed her eyes and let out a contented sigh.

The warm embrace of the water enveloped her, washing away any lingering traces of sleepiness and leaving her feeling refreshed and invigorated.

With each passing minute, the excitement building inside her seemed to grow stronger, filling her with a sense of joyful anticipation for the day ahead.

She spent some time indulging in the soothing bath and emerged from the water feeling refreshed and revitalized.

Wrapping herself in a plush towel, she moved to the vanity mirror, her reflection illuminated by the soft glow of the bathroom lights and her thoughts turned to Steffan, her soon-to-be husband.

A wave of excitement washed over her as she imagined the moment they would exchange vows, pledging their love and devotion to each other for eternity.

However, her sweet reverie was cut short as the door burst open and her mom, Monica Holmes, waltzed in without notice.

"Mom! When will you remember that I’m grown up and need some privacy?" Lauren frowned.

"What is there to hide? We’re both women here?" Monica Holmes waved her hand dismissively.

"But I still need my privacy. At least learn how to knock," Lauren complained.

"You can’t blame me dear. Not after waiting so long for this day. I could hardly catch a wink of sleep last night. I kept on waking up every other hour to check the time," Monica said as she held Lauren’s shoulder.

Making her way to Lauren’s wardrobe, she started pulling out some things she’ll be needing to dress up.

"Do you know how happy I was when I saw that it was finally morning? If not for your father who stopped me, I would have been here since 5 am."

Lauren couldn’t help but roll her eyes and at the same time, silently thanked her thoughtful father. "So why are you here?"

"To help you get ready, of course."

"As you can see, I already had my bath and was about getting dressed.

"Nah... you can’t dress yourself, at least not today."

"Why not?"

Monica ignored her and clapped her hands twice.

While Lauren was wondering about the meaning of the clap, her bedroom door flung open and several maids and two make up artists filed in to Lauren’s astonishment.

"Really, Mom?"

"They’re here to help you get dressed and ready for the wedding. Now be a good girl and cooperate with them."

Lauren sighed in exasperation. She had no choice but to obediently sit down, allowing the makeup artists to do their work.

Soon, the room was buzzing with activities as her bridesmaids came in one after another. They all flitted about, tending to last-minute details and offering words of praise for Lauren’s beauty. Laughter filled the air as they shared stories, memories and several nonsensical girl talks.

After they were done with her facials and hair, Lauren slipped into the delicate lace gown that had been carefully chosen for this momentous occasion, the fabric draping elegantly over her slender frame.

Her fingers traced the intricate patterns of lace and beadwork, a tangible symbol of the love and commitment she was about to embark upon.

As they fastened the final buttons of her dress and carefully arranged her veil, Lauren’s heart swelled with inexplicable joy.

With a radiant smile gracing her lips, she took one last look in the mirror, her eyes shining with excitement

"Today is the day I have always dreamed of. The day I’ll pledge my love and devotion to the man of my dreams," she smiled to herself.

"Hey, girls, it’s time to head over to the church," Monica announced from the doorway as she stepped into the room fully dressed.

As she saw her beautiful daughter, a lump formed in her throat. She reached out and held Lauren in a warm embrace, her eyes glistening with tears. "You’re so beautiful sweetheart," Monica said, smiling through her tears.

"I’ve never seen such a beautiful bride," her father, who was standing by the door, added.

"Hey, I bet you wouldn’t want to meet Steffan with tears in your eyes," her father teased, blinking back the tears that threatened to fall from his own eyes.

It took them about fifteen minutes to arrive at the church as they had chosen a church not too far from their house.

Stepping out of the car, Lauren’s heart swelled with emotion at the sight of the grand stone facade of the church. It was

adorned with flowers, bathed in the soft glow of candlelight, as dignitaries and guests filled the pews, awaiting the union of Steffan and Lauren.

As Lauren stood at the entrance of the majestic church, her arm intertwined with her father’s, she took a moment to savor the moment, her eyes sparkling with joy and anticipation.

With each step down the aisle, she felt her heart beating in rhythm with the music, her anticipation mounting with every passing moment.

Her gaze swept across the gathered dignitaries, alighting on familiar faces among the distinguished guests.

There, seated in the front rows, were her dear friends Kathleen and Shawn, who had flown in the previous night, accompanied by their children, Elvis, Eleanor and Elvira, the latest addition to the Hudson family. Just like her name, she was a happy, beautiful angel, always with an endearing smile.

With a wave of relief and gratitude, Lauren locked eyes with Kathleen, sharing a silent exchange of understanding and support. Kathleen’s presence was a comforting reassurance that filled Lauren’s heart with warmth.

Behind them, Lauren spotted Jason and his heavily pregnant wife, Cheryl.

As they neared the front of the church, Lauren’s pulse quickened, her eyes fixed on the figure waiting for her at the altar.

Steffan stood tall and resolute, his handsome features softened by a smile that took her breath away. Dressed in a bespoke tuxedo that accentuated his impeccable charm, he exuded an aura of quiet confidence and undeniable allure.

Their eyes met, a silent exchange of their love for one another.

The ceremony commenced and as it progressed, the priest reached the pivotal moment, his voice echoing through the hallowed halls.

"If anyone here knows of any reason why these two should not be joined in holy matrimony, speak now or forever hold your peace."

A hushed silence fell over the congregation, after the priest said those words.

But just as the words still hung in the air, a sudden commotion erupted at the back of the church and all heads turned in unison to see a mysterious figure emerge through the door distracting the sanctity of the church. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

Her entrance was accompanied by a palpable sense of tension and foreboding.

Her attire, consisting of a long, flowing black gown that trailed gracefully behind her, and a thick black veil that obscured her features, lent a dramatic quality to her presence.

As she strode down the aisle, her movements were deliberate and purposeful, each step from her high heels, echoing throughout the entire hall.

Though her face remained hidden beneath the veil, there was an unmistakable air of solemnity and seriousness about her, as though she bore the weight of the world upon her shoulders.

Halfway down the hall, she suddenly stopped. "I object!" Her voice rang out, clear and unwavering, sending a chill down the spine of everyone present. It left no room for doubt—she was here on a mission, and she would not be ignored.

A wave of shock and disbelief washed over the congregation as murmurs of confusion rippled through the crowd.

Steffan and Lauren stood frozen at the altar, their gazes locked in shock and disbelief. Their hearts pounded in their chests as they exchanged anxious glances.

Kathleen and Shawn, seated among the guests with their children, watched in stunned silence, their expressions mirroring the collective unease that now permeated the church.

Visibly taken aback by the unexpected interruption, the priest attempted to restore order as he cast a questioning gaze upon the mysterious woman. But the tension in the air was palpable, casting a shadow over the joyous occasion and leaving everyone on edge.

"Who are you and what do you want?"
