THE FORGOTTEN HEIRESS-Chapter 289: Wooing Back My Wife
After Shawn was fully recovered and returned to work, he made it a point of duty to check on Kathleen everyday at Wyatt Corporations whether she was there or not.
This, no doubt whetted the appetite of our dear friend, Nuella, Aka, "Information Box" of Wyatt Corporations.
"Hey Maya, what do you think is going on between the boss and President Hudson?"
Maya raised her head from her computer and glared at Nuella, who was living up to her name — "Information Box."
"Is there anything else you know to do aside from gossiping?"
"What do you mean?" Nuella glared back at Maya. "As if you don’t enjoy the so-called gossip, Tell me what you know and quit pretending to be better than me," she sneered.
"Or do you think I would come to you if not for the fact that the suspense is trying to kill me? As a matter of fact I’ve not been able to sleep for days as I’ve been trying to make sense of what is going on between them."
Maya threw her a disdainful look and retorted,
"Well, I don’t know anything. If you are so desperate to find out, go ask Ms Ariel, her assistant, or better still, ask the boss herself. At least you will get first hand information that way."
Nuella looked shocked at Maya’s words. "I can see that you don’t like me one bit and that is why you want me sacked. How can you give me such a cruel suggestion?"
But of course, the shock didn’t last for long as the next minute she still asked,
"But seriously, do you think President Hudson is pursuing our boss?"
Maya shook her head helplessly. "Your case is definitely a hopeless one."
"Whatever," Nuella waved her aside and went on with her quest.
"Do you remember the first time he came last week after staying away for over a month? He brought almost a dozen roses for the boss."
"It was a dozen roses, stupid." Maya corrected and didn’t realize that she had been trapped by Nuella’s net.
"How do you know?" Nuella asked naturally, masking her triumphant smile with a yawn that suddenly came out of nowhere.
"That’s because I quickly counted it while his assistant was asking for President Janice’s whereabouts. Moreover no one would give their girlfriend such an odd number of roses."
"Why?"
"It’s either they give a single rose, or a dozen, or two to three dozens and then fifty, hundred and so on.
Each of those numbers have their significance and special meaning for the one it is being given to," Maya explained intelligently.
She was glad she did that special research when she was crushing on a particular celebrity who unfortunately for her, had someone he loved and it was always reported on social media that he sends a different number of roses to her everyday.
"So you want to tell me that you know about roses?" Nuella asked mockingly.
"What sort of question is that? Of course I do, who doesn’t," snapped Maya.
"Anyways, Roses are often associated with declarations of deep affection."
"So what does the two dozen roses President Hudson sent to the boss mean?"
Finally given the chance to display her intelligence, Maya answered smugly,
"Two dozen signifies the twenty four hours in a day. So if someone sends their love interest that number of roses, it means he is saying that the love interest is always on his mind."
"Awnnnn. That is so sweet," Nuella said emotionally. "In other words, President Hudson was telling boss that he cannot even think of anything else besides her for the entire day"
Her mind was instantly catapulted to the second time she had seen President Hudson with a much larger bouquet of roses heading towards the presidential elevator.
Her eyes twinkled at the thought of how beautiful those roses had looked when it was being held in President Hudson’s hand.
Then, she had even wished that by a sheer stroke of luck he would at least do as if he was about to hand over the rose to her then withdraw his hand immediately.
She would have been the happiest woman on earth and perhaps died smiling if that had happened.
"Hey, what are you thinking about?"
"Sweet dreams," Nuella said without thinking, her smile getting more profound.
Maya gaped in disbelief. "When you are not even sleeping? I think you need deliverance."
"I love this kind of demon possession, just let me be," she said and walked away with that dreamy look on her face.
Maya: "..."

Meanwhile, the topic of their discussion was in his office at Hudson Corporations, having a conference call with Jason.
After the birthday, Jason had flown back to the head office where he was managing and as a result, they’ve not been able to communicate since then.
Jason asked as he stared at the man’s face that was so handsome that if he wasn’t a straight man himself, he would have spent the entire day fantasizing about.
’No wonder my sister couldn’t get over him,’ he thought. But aside from his face, he had also come to realize that Shawn had several good sides which he only revealed to the ones he cared about.
"So how far have you gone with Janice?"
"We are making progress and I am beginning to see more green light, but you never can tell with your sister," Shawn said with a doting smile.
Jason could literally feel the love oozing out from those words as he spoke about his sister.
This is the kind of love he had always wanted the man who wanted his sister to have, someone that would dote on her all day long.
"I wish you good luck. Moreover, you have the support of everyone in the family aside from the main character herself."
The more he saw the effort Shawn had been putting in to woo his sister each day the more tempted he was to tell him the truth.
But his sister’s current attitude had also made him doubt if what she told him about wanting to start all over with Shawn was the truth or she just said it because of the raw emotions she felt at the face of the situation then.
"It sure means a lot to me to have the support of everyone and I believe that with time, my sincerity will touch Kathleen’s heart."
"I heard you’ve almost turned Wyatt Corporations into a flower shop and you hardly stay in your office again. Isn’t that too much?" Jason teased.
"Nothing is too much when it comes to wooing back my wife," Shawn declared.
If he had not tasted the sweetness of living together with Kathleen and the children, he would have also felt he was overdoing it, but after those three weeks he spent with them within the same space, he doubted he had the patience to wait any longer.
If he had his way he would just whisk them away and take them to a place where it would just be the four of them.
But unfortunately that was impossible for now.
"Hey, brother in-law, what are you planning? I can see that calculative look in your eyes," Jason teased.
"I’m thinking of how to kidnap Kathleen and the children," Shawn confessed jokingly.
"I wouldn’t advise you to do that," Jason cautioned.
"Of course, it was just a thought," Shawn said dismissively.
"How are things going between you and Ms Moore? When do you plan to legalize things with her?"
At the mention of Cheryl, it was Jason’s turn to have that lovestruck look in his eyes.
"We are working towards the middle of next year. By then I would have cleared my workload that are lined up till the first quarter and hopefully you and my sister would have sorted things out."
"Yeah, hopefully. But I also have to tidy up things concerning that creep."
"That’s true? What did the Mayor say when you drew his attention to her character."
"He is completely in on it, he is just waiting for us to say the word and he will hand her over to us."
"That’s great, I must commend him for his understanding, Jason said."
"He had no choice after all the contracts I assigned to his two companies," Shawn sneered.
"That’s for Linda, what are your plans concerning your mother? I learnt just like you, she has also become a popular visitor at Wyatt Corporations. Are you guys planning on shifting your offices to Wyatt’s corporations?"
"I wouldn’t mind at all. We’d just call it a merger," Shawn joked.
"But as for Mrs Hudson, I’ve left her to Kathleen to deal with her whichever way she seems fit. Afterall, she was the one who was hurt the most."
"You won’t do anything?" Jason asked in disbelief.
"What do you think? Of course I’m not interfering one bit. If not for her myopic nature, I wouldn’t be thinking of ways to woo my wife back. Maybe I should already be a father of four by now."
