Chapter 276: I’m Not The Jealous Type.

"What’s wrong with having an extra child in the family? Don’t tell me you are already jealous?" Stacy asked as if it was a normal occurrence that shouldn’t surprise anyone.

"What’s there to be jealous about?" Kathleen smirked. "I was only pointing out my observations." 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚

"Noted. Now go on with what you had to say, Shawn."

"It’s kind of hard.. but since you already consider me as family, can I... can I.. come over to Fairview Villa to recuperate after I am discharged from the hospital?"

Stacy darted a glance at her husband who just shrugged and from his expression she saw that the decision was in her hands,

"Why Fairview Villa?" Stacy asked.

"My point exactly," Kathleen barged in. "He had so many properties scattered all over the city and outside that he could choose any of them to recuperate in."

"It’s kind of complicated," Shawn said helplessly. "You see, my mother wouldn’t let me see Kathleen and Kathleen doesn’t want her knowing about the children yet, so..."

"I understand. You can come over whenever you want to." Stacy said directly, cutting off Shawn from the long winded explanation.

"What?"

"Really?!"

"Of course, son," Stacy chose to respond to Shawn’s "really" while ignoring Kathleen’s "what?"

As a matter of fact, before their talk with Kathleen last night, they had had a session with their grandchildren who had tried their best to convince them to allow their sick and helpless father to come over.

That way, they could see him whenever they wished and also make their mother forgive and get back together with him, they had pleaded.

They went on to say every good thing their father was and how he was the best father any child would ever have. Eleanor even recounted afresh the incident where Shawn had saved her from drowning in the pool during the school’s sports event and Stacy who never knew of such happening apart from the one at the kindergarten, was left speechless.

With how earnest and serious the children were when they tried to convince her, Stacy who had already been won over by Shawn’s action of sacrificing his life for her only daughter easily agreed, letting go of her past grievances against him.

As for Director Wyatt, he had long forgiven and accepted Shawn from the day he turned down his proposal at his office when he had tested him with his daughter knowing fully well that he had a wife that was giving him challenges.

Oblivious of the special place he had earned in his in-laws’ heart, Shawn marveling at Stacy’s kindness, grinned. "Thank you, Mom."

"Don’t mention, dear."

At the genuine smile radiating from Stacy’s face, Shawn couldn’t help but be struck by her beauty.

Although she could be said to be at par with any world supermodel within her age bracket, her beauty had more to do with the inner beauty that originated from a pure soul than the outward appearance, just like Kathleen’s.

She was elegant and at the same time approachable, making one feel comfortable in her presence.

He stared at her with admiration, and Kathleen, noticing his awe, raised an eyebrow. "Shawn, are you okay? You seem a bit distracted. Wait! Are you staring at my mom?"

Shawn stammered a bit before replying, "I...uh, Mrs. Wyatt, mom, is really kind. And, well, she’s beautiful."

Stacy blushed slightly, earning herself a snort from Director Wyatt and a cold glare in Shawn’s direction.

’I have to watch out for this dangerous "son" of mine, I don’t think he can be fully trusted yet," he said under his breath, despite knowing that it was a harmless admiration.

"I think it’s time to leave," he said abruptly and Kathleen couldn’t help but burst out in laughter.

Take care of yourself, Shawn," Stacy admonished as she got up to follow her husband who was almost at the door.

"I will, mom, thanks for dropping by," Shawn replied.

"Thanks, dad," he said to the grumpy man whose hand was already on the door handle.

"Goodluck to you, dad, on your adventure with your new son," Kathleen said at the disappearing backs of her parents.

Stacy on the other hand, had lived with her husband long enough to know that he was jealous.

She sauntered over, catching his attention as he stood waiting for her in the corridor.

"Hey there, Director Jealous," she teased, a mischievous twinkle in her eyes.

Director Wyatt looked up, a quizzical expression on his face. "Jealous? Me? What are you talking about?"

Stacy chuckled, "Oh, come on. I saw the way you looked when Shawn complimented my beauty. It was adorable."

Director Wyatt feigned innocence, "I have no idea what you’re talking about. I’m not the jealous type."

As they settled into the car, Stacy leaned in, giving him a peck on the cheek. "Sure, sure. You’re not fooling anyone. But, you know, I find it kind of cute."

Director Wyatt sighed, relenting, "Okay, maybe I was a bit jealous," he confessed.

"He is your son in-law, old man," she taunted as the driver pulled out of the hospital parking lot.

"Who is also a man, and an extremely handsome one at that," Director Wyatt confessed.

"But he is in no way comparable to my everly dashing husband who can turn heads any day and any time," Stacy coaxed lovingly.

"It’s good you still know that," Director Wyatt smirked and adjusted his suit properly, dusting away a non-existent dirt.

Seeing her husband’s action, Stacy nudged him with a playful grin. "Look at you looking all bloated and proud."

"Isn’t that what you love about me?" He retorted.

"That’s true, I like my man confident and imposing and I think my daughter took after me from her choice of man."

Director Wyatt smirked, "Here we go again. But I guess you’re right. I shouldn’t be competing with my son-in-law."

Stacy winked, "Exactly. Besides, you’re the only man in my heart. There is no more space for any other."

Director Wyatt couldn’t help but smile at Stacy’s playfulness. "I suppose you’re right. No more jealousy from me."

Stacy grinned, "That’s my sweetheart. Now, let’s focus on more important things, like planning your son’s wedding."

"Which of my son’s wedding?" He asked, donning an innocent expression.

"Jason’s, of course," Stacy laughed, knowing fully well that he was teasing her.

Director Wyatt nodded, "that reminds me, I’ve not seen that young man today. I wonder what he’s been up to."

"He’s probably busy preparing for the coming of another grandchild for you," Stacy answered with a mischievous smile.

"Aren’t you a naughty little woman," Director Wyatt pinched her cheeks gently and they both shared a laugh.
