THE FORGOTTEN HEIRESS-Chapter 247: I Thought You Were Way Wiser Than This.
The only person he was yet to give a final blow to was Linda and he deliberately delayed her fate till now so that she would experience the full impact of what it means to be plotted against.
"Do you think mummy will ever forgive you the way you are going?" Elvis asked.
Shawn raised his eyebrows in confusion. "How am I going?"
"You are too slow daddy." Eleanor answered.
Shawn: "...."
Eleanor held her father’s arms with her two little ones and stared into his eyes with a serious expression as she said.
"Take my advice, daddy," she began as if she was about giving advice to her son.
"You should follow my mummy everywhere and make her see you everyday. You can even come over to live with us at Fairview Manor with the excuse that you want to be close to us. That way, Mummy will have no choice but see you everyday and get used to you."
"Then one day you can just go away and not return for a long time, then, she will miss you so much when she cannot see you again, and she will have no choice but to forgive you and ask you to come back."
"How did you come about this idea?" Shawn just had to ask, as he found the suggestion strange, coming from a child.
"That’s simple," Eleanor said nonchalantly.
"Whenever uncle Jason or our grandparents travel and stay away for long, they will always miss us so much and will always be happy to see us whenever they return back and will do whatever we want them to do."
"I see, so that’s how it is."
However someone else had a contrary take on Eleanor’s suggestion.
"That won’t work."
"Why do you think it won’t work?" Shawn turned towards Elvis who was shaking his head by the side.
He was actually thinking of considering Eleanor’s suggestion. It made sense to some extent.
"Mommy loves her space a lot and wouldn’t want someone who is always encroaching into it. All you need to do is show your sincerity."
Eleanor snorted. "How do you expect daddy to show his sincerity when mommy doesn’t even want to see him?"
’I thought you were way wiser than this," Eleanor wondered why her brother wasn’t thinking properly today.
"Daddy can only show his sincerity by making mommy see him every day. And that can only happen when he moves in with us."
Elvis paused for some time, then looked at his sister with interest.
"I think I’m beginning to see your point, Sis."
"But how do we get mommy to agree to daddy moving in with us?"
"I also have an idea for that," Eleanor said.
"What’s the idea?" Shawn asked shamelessly. He has completely left all the planning to his two innocent children who were desperate to have a complete family.
"There is someone that mommy listens to the most. She doesn’t joke with that person and would do anything to please the person."
"Is that so?" Shawn asked, his eyes shining with interest. "Who is that person?"
Elvis’s eyes widened in disbelief as he understood where his sister was headed.
"Don’t tell me you want to involve mommy’s godmother?"
"She is the only person that can get both mom and our grandparents to agree to our plan," Eleanor said.
Elvis was still not convinced. "I understand, but the problem now is how do we get her to buy into our plan?"
Eleanor did not see that as a problem as she had a ready answer. "Remember our birthday is in a month’s time? And she normally asks us to make our requests before the birthday."
"In other words, we are going to ask for an early birthday gift and that will be for her to persuade mom to let dad stay with us."
"That’s my smart brother," Eleanor said.
"Your birthday is in a month’s time?"
Eleanor’s golden locks bubbled up and down as she nodded In affirmation. "Yes, daddy. We wanted to tell you about it later."
"So how do you wish to celebrate your birthday?" He asked, pushing aside his own interest for the meantime.
Now that he knows about the birthday, he will make it sensational. But the only constraint was Kathleen. She didn’t want the children’s identity revealed yet.
"We celebrate it every year by going to the orphanage to spend some time with the children there," Elvis replied.
"Daddy, our birthday is still a whole month away. We can talk about that later. Let’s plan on reconciling you and mom together."
"Alright, my princess, whatever you say," Shawn could only follow them at their pace.
But his heart was filled with gratitude. ’What did I do to deserve such sensible and wonderful children?’ he wondered.
Shawn’s gaze alternated between the two children and he was touched by their thoughtfulness and the sacrifice they were willing to make for him.
He never had a perfect family as an only child whose parents were not so close to each other.
The only person he could say had ever shown him genuine love was his grandmother but they were years apart and although they never had this kind of comradeship, he was willing to do anything to make her happy.
Was this the same as what his children had for each other and were now extending to him? That even though they seem to always argue, they are always in sync with each other, watching out for the interest of one another.
"So, how can I get in contact with this person?"
"She is not someone you can easily talk to, but we will try our best to let her speak with you even if it is for once. The rest you have to handle by yourself," Elvis said as if that was the best they could do to help their father.
"So who is this person?" Shawn asked again. "Do I know her?"
"She is the one that took care of our mommy when she was pregnant with us before she found our grandparents," Elvis finally revealed.
