Chapter 237: It Is Ungentlemanly To Tell On Someone

"That is not what we are talking about."

Shawn chuckled when Elvis broke the gaze and looked away. He could tell that the little guy was obviously happy to see him but didn’t want to show it.

He signaled for everyone to excuse them and the head teacher had no choice but to vacate her office for the queer but breathtaking little family to have some time together.

"Let’s assume she is not aware of my coming, are you going to tell on me?" Shawn asked Elvis as he led the two children to sit with him on the couch in the head teacher’s office.

"It is ungentlemanly to tell on someone," Elvis spat out with disdain.

Shawn’s lips spasmed in a smile. "I guess I can count on this gentleman then," Shawn said, relaxing a bit.

The more he interacted with his children the more he felt blessed. They were wiser than most children their age, making it easier for him to interact with them.

With this he could also easily negotiate with them to win back his wife and family.

"That is not a reason to be sneaky in the future," Elvis reprimanded as if he was talking to an erring child when he saw the complacent smile on his father’s face.

He suspected their father had something shady on his mind by coming to see them in school without their mother’s notice.

He also knew that their father wanted to spend more time with them, but because of their mother’s disposition, he had to restrain himself and kept himself away for almost a week after their dinner.

He admired him for not making things difficult for their mother.

He once had a friend before they moved to Baltimore, who confided in him that his parents were always fighting because the father wanted to take him and his elder brother away from his mother.

It got to a point where they made them to choose which of the parent they wanted to live with but because the father had more money, they were forced to stay with their dad even when they chose to stay with their mother.

Because of what happened to his friend, he stopped wishing to meet their father. If all he would do was take them away from their mother and make her sad, then there was no need recognizing such a father.

Unaware that he had scored a point with his children because of his sacrificial love for Kathleen, Shawn held his hand to his chest and declared. "I promise not to sneak around in the future."

Elvis’s little mouth turned up in a smirk. "I don’t need your promises."

Shawn: "...."

With arms folded across his chest, Elvis continued in a serious tone, his face reflecting the seriously of the matter as he said. "What I am more concerned about is, why you haven’t come up with a full proof plan to get Mummy to come and live with you. Or have you done such despicable things that mummy cannot forgive you."

Shawn was struck speechless. "Are you sure you are a five year old child?"

"I’m not a five year old child. I’m going to be six soon," Elvis sneered. "I’m not surprised you couldn’t tell my age since it took you this long to recognize your own children."

"Elvis! Can you stop arguing with dad and talk nicely for once," Eleanor scolded. She was tired of seeing her brother picking on their father whom they hardly saw.

What if he scares him away and he refuses to come see them in the future. Wouldn’t that make them fatherless again and the other kids will start making fun of them like they did in their previous school?

"When men are talking, you don’t have to interrupt. We are discussing important family issues here," Elvis said.

All Eleanor knew to do was come up with fairytale dreams that he couldn’t understand every morning. To what use was dreaming without action.

"What family issue is so so important that I can’t have a say in?" She frowned, still unable to wrap her fingers around Elvis’s point.

"We are talking about how mum will take dad back, can’t you see that he is so pathetic and can’t even get mom to forgive him for whatever he did that made them drift apart?"

Shawn: "..."

He couldn’t help but ask himself if he was truly pathetic. But come to think of it, the child might be right after all.

How long will it take for him to get her forgiveness.

"Really. I think I have a few tips I can share with daddy on that," Eleanor said, her excitement returning when she thought about how nice it would be for the family to stay together.

Then mummy will not be upset whenever she talks about her father and she can easily hang out with him where ever she wishes.

"So what tips does my beautiful princess have to share with me. I’d love to hear it," Shawn asked, the mirth returning to his eyes. Whoever said that daughters were their father’s sweetheart in the previous lifetimes was not far from the truth. Each time his daughter spoke, they were like soft feathers tickling his soul giving a peaceful vibe.

"I don’t think today will be a good day since our break is almost over and classes will start any time soon," Eleanor rightly pointed out.

"What do you say about meeting again," Shawn asked, throwing a glance at Elvis who seemed to be lost in deep thoughts.

"But we need to ask for mom’s permission like brother said. She will not be happy if she finds out that we have been meeting secretly," Eleanor said.

"Rest assured, I will ask for her permission next time. I only saw you today without notifying her because I had something to discuss with your head teacher and decided to use the opportunity to see you before I leave."

"How about this weekend," Elvis suggested. "Mom will be going for a conference outside the city."

"Deal!" Shawn smiled and held both their shoulders hugging them close to himself.
