Chapter 230: Be Obedient, Eleanor.

Kathleen rose from her seat to see what Eleanor had drawn, but her expression underwent a dramatic change the moment she saw Eleanor’s drawing.

’What is this little girl up to with this? Talk about giving someone a fish and they will ask for a whole fish pond.’

"I think it’s getting late, we have to get going," she said, taking Eleanor’s hand in hers.

Shawn looked on dumbfounded. Everything was going on just fine between them until she saw the drawing.

’Is she that against us getting back together that she would outrightly turn cold on a little child who was innocently expressing herself?’

"But I still want to stay, mummy," Eleanor complained and refused to move.

By then Elvis had stopped what he was doing and was standing by their side.

He wondered what suddenly went wrong.

"What is going on, mummy?" Elvis asked but didn’t get any reply from anyone.

"I guess I have to find out myself," Elvis muttered. He remembered hearing his father exclaim over something and shortly afterwards, their mother got angry.

He looked around and his eyes fell on Eleanor’s drawing and he couldn’t help but groan in his heart.

"Eleanor Wyatt! How can you be so careless? Even if you wanted a family desperately, couldn’t you at least exercise a little more patience seeing mummy is still not ready to get back with dad?"

"Be obedient, Eleanor," Kathleen snapped. "We are leaving this very minute."

This was the very reason she had been avoiding this in the first place. She didn’t want the children to get so used to Shawn that they will start having funny ideas.

But who was to know that it will take them only an evening for them to be completely won over by their conniving father.

No wonder he was acting all good and perfect all evening. He had successfully etched himself into their hearts and now Eleanor was caught in his web.

Before Elvis is also entangled, they have to leave.

"Remember you have school tomorrow and you need to rest early."

To ease the tension and probably redeem his image in Kathleen’s mind, Shawn decided to come in at this point.

"Sweetheart, listen to your mummy and go with her, we can always hang out some other time."

’There will be no other time as far as today’s incident is concerned. I will make sure I minimize your interactions with them to the barest minimum,’ Kathleen concluded in her heart.

"Eleanor, let’s go with mum," Elvis added in a tone and look that only the two of them understood.

It was only then that Eleanor agreed to go with their mother but not before flinging herself into her father’s arms and giving him a kiss on the cheek.

Before the driver drove them away, Kathleen turned to Shawn.

"Thank you for the wonderful evening, Shawn."

He nodded listlessly and watched until the car completely disappeared from his sight before returning back to the penthouse.

He had specially hugged Eleanor all the way to the car according to the little girl’s request and long after they were gone, Shawn was still remembering the softness from the kiss Eleanor gave him which spoke volumes.

The evening was bound to end anyway, Shawn consoled himself. Although this was not how he had planned for it to end.

Apart from clearing the table which had been done after they finished dinner, he instructed the manager not to touch anything in the apartment as he personally put them away.

He spent the night in the apartment and for the remaining days in that week, it was where he retired to after work.

Kathleen, on the other hand, had been so busy that she almost forgot about the incident.

The restructuring of The Beazell group was almost done and she planned to start operations the following week.

In preparation for next week, she had called for a meeting with all the executives and shareholders.

As she stepped foot into the former Beazell group headquarters, Kathleen couldn’t help but have a nostalgic feeling about the place. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

She remembered the first time she came to the Beazell group to intern as a fresh graduate from college.

She was unfortunate enough to be interviewed by Linda, who had just returned from abroad.

It seemed they were destined to be sworn enemies as right from the very first day, they had a misunderstanding.

It became worse when Linda found out that she was in a relationship with Shawn, whom she believed belonged to her.

She wasted no time in orchestrating her dismissal on the basis of incompetence.

Everyone could clearly see it was all a fluke as she was recognized by the various departmental heads as the most outstanding intern in the company, but no one could do anything to help her. They could only sympathize with her for offending the boss’s daughter.

But here she was at the same company, not just as an intern or employee but as the owner.

Like they say, the only constant thing is change.

Some of the staff who knew her then gaped in surprise when they recognized her and rushed forward to greet her.

Among them was a plump looking lady who stood aside, gaping in disbelief. "Kathleen! Is this really you?"

It was Betsy Simons, one of the girls then who had somehow been close to her.

"Hello, Betsy, it’s me," Kathleen replied with a smile. She didn’t know she would still be working here.

She was also being targeted by Linda when she found out that they were close. I guess she let her be after finding out that Betsy was no match for her.

"I didn’t expect to see you again in the Beazel group after all these years. What are you doing here?" Betsy asked with eyes shining in admiration.

"I’m here for a meeting," Kathleen answered casually.

"A meeting? Oh yes, I heard the new boss will be holding a meeting with the executives and the directors today. But no one knows who he is."
